I have a few questions if you have answers kindly respond. 1. Where do you suggest someone studying in University of Chester gets an accommodation. 2. Do you have an idea if I can get an accommodation at a cheaper rate </= £300 pcm? 3. Please what do I need to do before proceeding to apply for a job? (Like things to get done first - police certificate? NIN? etc? How do I go about it?) 4. Do you know anyone that is studying or have studied in Chester? (last year September intake or before then) 5. Is it compulsory I leave London immediately after isolation to school to get my BRP? Can I wait a few days? 6. How do I buy a train/bus ticket from London to Chester. What do you suggest? 7. How can one apply for a job? What sites can I view? (I know about indeed.co.uk) 8. How and where can I register my SIM card for NIMC? I was unable to get my NIN in Nigeria. 9. What network provider and bank account is best to use? (I have read about Monzo) Thank you! |

kode12: Ah okay. Check here https://www.nisbets.co.uk/kitchenware-and-knives/chefs-knives/_/a33-2 Then don’t let the meat defrost fully before cutting. Sometimes it’s easier. Good luck. 1 Like |

Grace321: There is no right or wrong time , it all depends on the student. Some start the process shortly after they arrive |

Hi guys. I got into the UK recently for my MSc. I'm trying to open a Halifax account. Which will be better to open between Current Account & Student Current Account? |
Re: Living In The Uk/life As A UK Immigrant by LagosismyHome(f): 7:46am On Jan 31, 2021 |
iCode2: Since you are a student then definitely student current account. Both are similar and free. The only difference if you are given over draft allowance then with student it is free and you don't pay interest but with the other Current Account Halifax will charge you interest when you use your overdraft 2 Likes |

Hello Grace 321,I have been trying to mail you. Apparently, it appears I don't really know how to,again using my phone. You mentioned that you have a mail of University of Chester personnel that someone can mail to and get a quick response in the student forum.. Please can you state it please? I missed my admission because of their reluctance nature even after paying school fees. I have deferred for the next intake. However,I need the right contacts for mailing. Thank you very much. |

NIMC? This is a Nigerian organisation - I very much doubt that they operate in the UK... If you do not have a NIN when in Nigeria then you have most likely missed your chance... However, if you had tried to get a NIN and got a transaction slip or used a SIM card, it is not that hard to link the SIM and NIN. You will be better asking more relevant questions to people living ordinarily in the UK - most folks are not students anymore. Try the student section or other relevant Forums (not just Nairaland) or more accurate and useful advice and info... Alternatively, Internet searches is quite easy and useful for most things. The Universities also have liaison officers that can help. All will also have international students committees and so on National insurance number can be obtained from the government website. (.gov). It will take you some time and given you are a student, you may not be prioritised. Working should be less of a priority and answers can be easily obtained on the ground. Covid test - same thing; not relevant! 2 Likes |

Can students now work for unlimited hours? Pls how true is this? |
Re: Living In The Uk/life As A UK Immigrant by LagosismyHome(f): 4:21pm On Jan 31, 2021 |
olenime: If someone tells you that .... ask the person to show you where on .gov official website it is stated If it not on .gov then doesn't exist. There were some changes made due to covid allowing unlimited hours but this are strictly for Students who have work rights and are employed by an NHS trust within a listed number of professions 3 Likes |

Hello please I really need the truth as regards this question The UK or Canada, which is easier to get a pr,am thinking of Canadian immigration or studying in the uk |
Re: Living In The Uk/life As A UK Immigrant by icon8: 5:29pm On Jan 31, 2021 |
enesty:You get Canadian PR the moment you set foot on Canadian soil (through any of the skilled immigrant programs) and you qualify for citizenship after just 3 years. To get PR in the UK, you must have lived here for a minimum of 5 years (ILR), and another 1 year (totalling 6 years) before you qualify for citizenship. 2 Likes |

enesty: If you meet the eligibility requirements for Canada and you have no specific attachments to the UK, then I’d say Canada, with UK as plan B. For a neutral, other than the UK’s nearness to Nigeria and Canada’s horrible winter (very very cold and long) I can’t think of anything the UK has over Canada. 2 Likes |
