Guys...I’m traveling to USA in 2 week time. I learnt from my Travel agent that all travelers are required to do a Rapid covid 19 test which will cost another 37k at the airport. Regardless the airline
How true is this?

Not necessarily true because requirement for Rapid test is at discretion of the airline. However the mandated test to travel to the US is either PCR covid-19 negative test or an antigen test. Please engage your airline for further clarifications. I know Emirates has mandated Rapid test if you are transiting through Dubai effective since February 2nd.

You only need a PCR Covid test at a designated testing centre and there are many to choose from( there is NO testing place at the airport and rapid tests are not valid for travel). Get your sample taken and get the PCR Covid test done either at LAGOS state facilities or the official ones on ncdc list e.g afriglobal, synlab, clinic, veracare, 54gene .

Anyone telling you about some test at the airport is scamming you by selling fake results. Actual COVID tests done are easily verifiable and plenty fake results have been traced to nigeria.

It is not totally true or untrue but a function or discretion of the airline. I think it's better to start learning how Rapid test is being carried out. I plan to visit US in April via Emirates and I have been reading about their requirements to travel to, from or through Dubai. See the attached

Good evening all.
I was supposed to have my interview with my spouse in March last year but due to covid-19, our appointment was cancelled. We have been able to book another appointment for March since our payment receipts are still valid. The challenge now is that we lost the copies of our Visa fee receipts in the course of relocating to another state around August last year. We have been to the Gtbank branch where we made the payment so as to reprint the receipt but they can't seem to find it in their records. We have also called the customer care all to no avail.
Please, is there any other way to solve this as we are told we need to present the receipt before we would be allowed in for our interview?
We have the payment references for both receipts, we just don't have the copy of the receipts.
Thanks

Just asking ...the Lord is my Shepard

The only red flag from a general perspective is if you told any untruths at the first interview that are now inconsistent with any information you are providing at the second interview. Were you working in the police force when you applied to go for a police conference? That would be unusual if you were not. Did they issue you the first visa? If not, why were you denied?

This is a tough one. Maybe you should call the embassy and ask them. I know you are required to show your receipt. They might ask you to pay another fee. Please next time make photo copies. Keep them same place you keep your passports.

Check on top of the page. It is a mix of letters and numbers. I believe your are talking about your ds160. I hope you made copies after submitting it. I think you have to pay before filling the form.

Were you issued a visa the first time? The only res flag will be if you lied in your first application. Have you switched career path?

How true is this?

It is not true.

You are to have a negative covid test valid within a 72-hour window of entering your final destination.
Covid tests can either be PCR or Rapid.
PCR takes a day or two to be ready.
Rapid is a matter of hours.

If you exhaust your 72-hour window during your trip, you may be required to do the Rapid Test by an airline while in transit.

You are also to quarantine and/or run another test while in your destination country. Most European and western countries conduct free covid test, unlike Nigeria.

So don't let your travel agent confuse you.

Calculate your 72 hours to include result collection, departure date, transit date and destination arrival date.
Most flights are usually under 36hours, except our tendency to get a ticket that allows you an extra day at transit country in other to get a free hotel experience on the airline bill..

Send an email to GTB HQ. Supplying the date and other details of the payment.
That Branch needs to be sanctioned by whoever supervises them, or you engaged with someone there who has little knowledge or poor banking operations training.
Since you have the payment references, just print or make copies and hold while you go on with the inquiry as advised to USConsulate

The embassy probably (90%) won't make a decision with the surname as a yardstick.
You stand there at the interview as you alone, backed by the info on your DS160.

The only thing the US Friend can do is to provide you a destination address and will be responsible for your upkeep and spend for the duration of your stay. (This will lead to further questions like how long, what will you be doing, will you come back when you are done, what's the proof you are coming back, what happens to your work/school while away)...

An invitation letter also good, but not important.

Hello everyone, please I need help for a sister.

What documents does a single mother of one needs, aside from affidavits, to travel out of the country with her child?

She already gone to do their passports but according to her, it wasn't easy because they requested for letter of consent from the child's father, and she told them the father's whereabouts is unknown. She was told to make 2-affidavits (one for single mother and the other for facts) after which they were interviewed, their files verified, approved and they got captured.

She said she was told to keep copies of the affidavits because she will need them when they want to travel.

@justwise, seyewest please help

Is the child's birth certificate listing the child's father?
If it isn't, you don't need anything again to travel. Hope you have copies of those affidavits?

Things like this paint everyone in grey.
Please leave agents alone and walk through the front door. Don't allow anyone to lay ideas in your head on how to beat the system. Forget the inside man at CGI... All this is to determine how much you are going to part with compared to the last person they jobbed.
If the reason for an interview is urgent and important, the same embassy has a link to schedule an expedited interview.

Ouch.

You are in a bit of a pickle because global immigration laws, in trying to deter child abduction, almost always require consent from the other spouse if a child is traveling alone with a parent.
Abandonment doesn't strip a spouse of parental rights.
A minor or child cannot be taken away from the other parent.
If you want this solved properly, you will have to go to the magistrate court (family and probate) and try to get an order for Parental Custody. If you can cite abandonment by the other parent (evidence of no care, financial support - school fees, clothes and shoes, health care, accommodation; physical presence, failed communication - SMS, Email; birthday and holidays without the partner (photos), picnic and outings...
This will give you a stronger case at Border Controls.

Was there a legal marriage? If not, then this Order will suffice. The Magistrate Court will be faster than the High Courts.

PS. This works for either a father or mother situation. Noticed I used 'other parent' in most of my references.

Good morning,
Please has any one recently gone to the embassy to get a B1/B2 visa for the purpose of holiday? What was your story? Can you please post a transcript?
My dad is trying to renew his visa (He has had a couple of visas in the past)
His appointment at the embassy is in two weeks (that’s the date we got) and The travel date he put on his form is May. Purpose of travel holiday.
Does anyone have a similar experience and were they approved? If yes, please share your transcript.
For anyone else/ gurus in the house any concerns or red flags? Please what are his chances?

Perhaps people are busy? Be patient... no need to shame anyone on a visa.

You should consider the strength of your application. Mind you, because of 9-11, visa officers are likely to scrutinize your application more closely. Make sure you are consistent in what you say with respect to your last interview. Best of luck.

Not sure how it works in Nigeria but the mother can go to court to obtain an involuntary termination of parental rights. That should be permissible to travel.

Yes. Different DS 160 Form. Except it's for birthing, documents are not checked at the interview. The interview lasts for maximum of 3 minutes. On rare occasions can you spend more than 5mins.
Just take basic documents but I am 99% sure that they won't be checked.
