Thank you for your response. Like I mentioned, I have done my research and applied to quite a number of schools and still have some pending. I am just looking out for DIRECT referral/recommendation from anyone here who got GRA/ GTA / funding from a particular school and similar research area to add to my list. NoFap123: 8 Likes 1 Share |

I was admitted to PhD Language study recently with Graduate Assistantship/Teaching Assistantship at Clemson University in South Carolina. Can I accept now and later reject if another PhD Language study, admission in a different school comes up? 1 Like 1 Share |

GreatUniben: What is the time frame given to you to accept the offer? If it April 15th for example, why don't you wait for other offers as well. At the PhD level, it is a very small world. Accepting an offer and later rejecting it doesn't sit well. If you have time before accepting the offer wait until you hear from the other schools you applied to. 3 Likes |

Is anyone going through this too, please? Can't seem to figure what's wrong, cos everything's been done accordingly and visa fee paid for, only to get this.

Friedpotato:I think switching locations is a brilliant idea. I've been locked out from the page today though cos it says I've reached my daily limit and that it'll be reset for tomorrow. So I'll give your idea a try from midnight. Thanks |

PimpinPips: I'm not sure you are using F1 student academic exchange program to apply for your visa that's the reason you are not seeing appointment dates, because right now there are dates available for regular appointments, you just have to recheck what you filled out. |
Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 16 by EmeritusR: 9:57pm On Feb 06, 2021 |
PimpinPips: oh okay I see where the problem is coming from now, you just need to check this trend and ask some few questions there if may be they've started regular appointments for medical purpose but I'm sure emergency appointments was suppose to be working for this. trend here~ https://www.nairaland.com/5807124/usa-visit-visa-part-4/22 1 Like |

drjustice17:It doesn't really matter. He can do either first. He can pay the visa fee, book an appointment and fill his ds form later. The important thing to know is that you must complete the form, submit it and put the form number on your cgi appointment page and you should do these before 72 hours to your interview 5 Likes 1 Share |

Jukwasi: Do you meet the minimum requirement for admission in those schools? I mean TOEFL, GRE, and GPA requirements? How strong are your reference letters? Do they require essays? You can do a rough estimate of your compatibility with a school on msinus (msinus.com). Usually if you meet the requirements of schools, they give admission, albeit conditionally. 3 Likes 1 Share |

Daodudavid: Congratulations man. For your safety, and for everyone's safety, I think you should expatiate more on what kind of help you mean - advice, information or financial? People should be encouraged to connect with you openly HERE for advice and information... And if financial, you can render by proxy, by using known names, such as fairheart etc. Jah bless your hustle man |

omofolajomi: Personally, I believe there are only three things a VO needs an F-1 applicant to prove. 1. Strong Home Ties: This is a no-brainer. A Visa Officer needs to be assured that you will return to Nigeria and not be a burden after you graduate. Do you have family here? Do you have a wife/husband in Nigeria? Do you have kids? Are you currently working? Do you own a business? Is it your family/Spouse that is funding you? Do you have scholarship from a local company? Is it a government scholarship? At least, can you clearly articulate your plans after you graduate? Does the VO has a gut-feeling that you are genuine? Do you have history of past travel and returning to Nigeria as at when due? Do you have a research you are working on tied to Nigeria? Just answer any of these questions honestly in your mind. If you are planning to lie to the VO, don't trip: Be rest assured you are coming out of that cubicle with a rejection slip. 2. Proof of Studentship: The VO is trained to pick the wheat from the chaff, to separate genuine students from people who want to japa. (Sorry if you don't know the meaning of Japa ). Answer honestly in your mind: What do you know about your research/course-of-study? Are you clear on your proposed thesis? What do you know about your school? The city where your school is? Where are you going to stay when you get to the US? Why did you apply to the school? Why did you select the school? Do you have contacts in your department? Is the course related to your undergraduate degree? If not, why are you switching careers? Can you articulate responses to these passionately? 3. Funds: Who is paying for your trip to the US? People with scholarships/fellowships/assistantships/funding from first family (mother, father, siblings, spouse) usually have no problem with this point. But if someone else is funding you, I mean awon Uncle, Aunties, In-laws, companies gang, be ready to explain the motive. Someone cannot just part away with millions of naira just because they love you. Be ready to explain, what is your relationship with this entity? How long have you known each other? What is their motive for investing in you? Are you paying back? Is it a loan? If you got a partial funding, and another entity is covering the rest, you'd still explain. If you got tuition waiver, with no extra funding, you need to explain solidly how you plan to survive in the US. If you have kids going with you, what is your educational plan for them? What is your medical plan? You must have sorted accommodation for at least a semester. You cannot be saying. You are not sure/act like you have not really prepared. So what's your plan? In essence, be honest and be prepared. The VO must have rejected you earlier for not meeting one of those requirements. The embassy/consulate HAVE YOUR RECORDS and also access to DO A BACKGROUND CHECK on you. So with these few points of mine, Be it as it may, if God wants you to be in US, and you have worked diligently and honestly, and you have nothing to hide, your visa WILL be approved. The God factor is the most important factor. As the maxim goes: work like you have not prayed, PRAY like you have not worked, because in essence, it is not by your hard-work. Whew! That was an epistle. My bad. I was a beneficiary of this thread (Part 15) and I look for opportunities to pay it forward. It's been a month in the US now and I must say, life is really good here.
