This is slavery, how many years will it take you to complete the deal, what will the car look like when you are done, these are the question you should ask yourself before proceeding.

Each time I read how government officials extort Uberbolt drivers, my heart bleeds.

There’re many reasons why these things why we fall victims such as greed, misinformation and lack of concentration

Am gonna try and be helpful on the part of misinformation

Am gonna list some lastma/police/task force/local government touts hotspots

On the island

No parking and stopping on the entire stretch of marina and broad street, the only authorized drop off and pick up point for Uberbolt is oando filling station marina

Also no stopping at CMS bus stop both in front of that church and under the foot bridge.

No stopping or parking on the entire stretch of st Gregory’s road or any of the inner street off the street except you’re dropping Off a resident of that particular street, also no stopping or parking on the entire stretch of awolowo road ikoyi

No parking along that ikoyi passport office road, you can drop off and wait a bit but don’t park and switch off your engine, they have eyes all around

Also if you’re to park on those streets off Alfred rewane be very watchful and don’t sleep off because they patrol from time to time

Eko hotel round about is another place to be very careful about, if you’re sharp you can quickly drop off there and move sharply

Then another problem with Victoria island is that they’re many one way roads which the signs are hidden or not visible, I can’t vividly describe the streets here with texts but once you’re in VI and you’re trying to enter a street look out for signs or better still park and ask to be sure.

The newly built traffic lights at 1st and 2nd roundabout in lekki is a bit confusing, if you’re trying to make a u-turn, look out for the correct sign and turn there, else those lastma and police officers are milking people dry on a daily basis, don’t fall victim pls.

Ajah under bridge is also a hot spot

From Abraham adesanya down to epe is a bit relaxed

Now we come to mainland

First on the list is Ikeja, during the day there’s no safe spot on Ikeja except the inner inner streets of GRA and Allen area, Ikeja is very notorious for traffic offenses so it’s better you avoid them but I’ll still share some hotspots

Kodesoh street inwards GRA, if you’re not turning right towards airport road, don’t stay on the extreme right, it will be termed obstruction and watch out for the traffic light there, they change very fast

Under bridge too,if you’re not sure where you’re going just stay in the middle lane, another thing to note if you must press your phone or receive calls around Ikeja be very watchful too and vigilant

Ade niyi Jones to connect oba akran traffic light, pls don’t try and beat it because those task force policemen on bikes are always there and will give you a hot chase

Airport road, for no reason whatsoever must you stop on the entire stretch of airport road from international down to local, don’t ever ever stop or park, if you wanna pick someone just drive into the car park and wait, don’t try to be smart about it

If you’re to pick a rider at MM1 tell him or get to come in to the car park

If you’re to pick at MM2 you can pick from the arrival pick up point or car park but make sure you don’t pick or drop off a rider when you’re on the zebra crossing, that offense alone Na 50k and most importantly don’t waste time while picking up, if you don’t see the rider yet keep moving and circle round back into the airport until you see him or her

If you’re to pick at international airport tell the rider to come inside the car park not outside oh, it must be inside after the barrier else they will clamp and tow your car away

Most importantly when you’re around Ikeja you should be very smart and watchful and don’t park anyhow

Yaba is another hotspot that you don’t park anyhow on the streets except you go into the inner and isolated streets and also watch out for one way roads, another area notorious for one way roads is shomolu and bariga, I don’t really know much about those areas because I don’t go there

Surulere The traffic light in front of stadium to turn into Alhaji masha road be very careful lastma guys are always on the prowl, there’s also a turning if you miss it don’t try and turn at the next one,if you’re caught no stories oh

Also be careful around aguda area, there’re some no parking zones around there, even if you wanna park just be watchful and smart about it, the local government tours there no get joy at all

So for now these are the ones I can easily remember, the rest places I hardly go to and if I go I don’t waste time and am very vigilant before I leave there

Places like egbeda, agege, iyana ipaja, ayobo, ikotun, ikorodu, abule egbaland, ogba, somolu, bariga, igando I hardly go to these places

Places where you rarely have issues are festac, ago palace way, mile 2,ajegunle,okoko,satellite town, iba

Some other hot zones

Alakija under bridge
Apple junction(not always)
Iganmu bridge

That will be all for now

Stay safe and God bless us all

Very accurate list

Note also, Fatai Atere and that smooth wide road that branches left off it to come out beside First Bank on Ladipo road (both inside Mushin)

You did the right thing bro. You want go slave for 3.5 years?

You will end up putting over 100,000 miles on that car that I'm sure has done over 200,000 miles already. By the time you're done and considering our maintenance culture, that vehicle is dead already. Of what use is it for you.

Not going to blame the owner of the vehicle too, he's not running a charity organisation and he's only making about 25% per annum which i think is very much fair.

The only way this HP model works on bolt is if the person driving it has someone else that foots his bills. Maybe the parent, cousin or uncle. That way, he can remit all his earnings to the owner of the car and pay him off in a year and half or thereabout.

Anything else is destined to fail.

We are in the same dilemma, I have used Hyundai and I'm using Honda now, but struggling to get Toyota. Feel's like I'm yet to arrive if I don't have Toyota. I was patiently observing the type of car argument last week and choose to keep mute if expert like Bishop or Madam Rad are not saying anything.

But my little submission on this matter: either cars are built for different purpose or we need to understand the reason why we need a particular car at a point in time. Toyota small but mighty barely reduce in price, it's that kind of shoe you will use and leave for ur children (mallam ku rin jo).

Toyota Corrolla: 2m or 1.5/6m for grade local used, if you use the car for 2 yrs and want to resale, pending on abuse... The car may go for 1.6 for toks resale or 1.3 for local used, at the end 300/400k difference

Honda Civic: toks 1.2/1.1, while used can fly from 750 to 400k and some times it's hard to tell the difference b/w both. Let's assume you get a good grade Honda for 750 and you use it for 2 years, sell at 600k, what's the difference? 150k

Prons: They both make same money, but I consider Toyota Corolla as moving money and owners worth, better chance of offline trips if you have good communication skills. For Honda? The A/C, interior and sound system is a give away. If you buy a car of 750 and after 2 years, you've made 3.5/4m plus or minus, compare it to buying a car of 2m and making same amount.

Cons: inability to sleep well, excess security consciousness and insurance matters, unlike the Honda civic where you may careless, drink your beer in peace. For the Honda? Your communication skills must be top notch before you can nail an offline trip, not that you cant, cos I do and mostly turn them down (they are distraction to work flow for me). Chance of having disappointed clients are high, in all fairness I have taken my leave on 3 clients cos they want big cars and I can't b begging someone, some will even ask if they accept this kind of car now (2003/2004 civic), thinking the car is 1996, I'll b the one explaining this is 04 car, same year with your Corrolla. The gear is the major problem, you see the solenoid will show you shege (Don't let no one tell you different), I practically service my solenoid switch every 2 weeks, with extra 2 up and down soleniod in the boot (each set cost 12k). while you may not even get to service Toyota gear for 6/12 months, let me not talk abt Honda service duration.

As for Hyundai's and it reselling values, you will be the one begging the clients to add some tin, part availability is in Ladipo and you may not get the toks, but new. Sound protect? They will ask you to go work Toyota own to it.

Toyota Yaris have is unique compressor, so when it get faulty, just know it's a beginning of a new Dawn in your life. For Toyota Camry 2003/08? Let's leave that for another post

Let me stop here, need to on my app, I'll edit later.

It shows you have no clue of what u are saying.. After Corolla Hyundai elantra is the next big choice for ehailing. Parts are very easy to get .. The elantra engine bay is not too tight to work around with......

Have been doing uber for 4years plus.. Elantra USA spec 2.0liter was my first choice of cars on the platform.. The car was very ok strong and fuel consumption was good as any 1.7 liter engine car .. I had about 6 of them the a/c system was well built , the transmission was impressively built strong.. I was so impress with the Elantra that I bought 1 for private use ....... The car was too simple to fix not a complicated car ......

Elantra Resale value.... I never had issues selling them at all .... Since I took good care of the cars I had up selling them for nothing less than 1m ..... It didnt take me long to sell at all ....

I have basically sold all my elantra on my fleet except for 1 that I will be putting up for sale soon.. Never had issues selling those cars .. I don't like to keep cars for more than two years on ehailing, even though I have kept some for longer ......

Unfortunately tokunbo elantra USA spec 07 to 10 are very expensive at the auction.. They are built to compete with Corolla.. And they are 1 of the top selling cars in the USA on that category etc ... And I knew it will be expensive down the line especially if am buying them tokunbo for ehailing. This is why I switch over to the Civic 03 to 05 ...

When it comes Cars that are use on the platform .. It boils down to maintainence of the car ...... I have seen a 2010 Corolla that the body was so banged up and looking unkempt dirty etc that I wouldn't want to get inside o.. .

So with offline trip all it matters the condition of the car and good shape the car is in ..just because it is a Corolla that has been rough up banged up etc will not make me enter ,just because na Corolla... 90% of ur assement makes no sense or.has no substance at all ..it shows you have no idea of what u are saying......

Than to top it up .. You stated tokunbo civic goes for 1.2m naira with these currant exchange rate . Abi na dead tokunbo you talking about for 1.2m grin even dead tokunbo go pass 1.2m ......let me break it down for you below.....

Honda Civic tokunbo 2003 to 2005
Assuming clean title and accident free....

Budget $2k
Shipping cost $ 920 , some shipping agent will charge $1k ...

Towing to the Port.. Depending on location anywhere from $150 to max $500.

Clearing from the Port 470k naira ..

If you buy the car at the lowest calculation below .. Exchange rate black market now is 480

Buying.. $ 1k
Shipping..$920
Towing to port $ 150
Clearing from the Port... 470k naira ...

So I use exchange rate of 460 for my total landing cost.. Which came to 1.422200m naira..

For the fact that I use 460 instead of 480 .. Landing cost is above 1.2m that you were spewing out ... this my landing cost is not even guaranteed .. 1.6m should be the minimum landing cost...... See yourself now ... grin I shake my head at times .. Just spewing total nonsense up and down

Oga Dru I just want to let you know that an attack on the Pope is an attack on every Oven world wide. Seriously you won't like to go one on one with me on this issue, because you obviously will b found dumb with the questions I'll throw at you.

As you said I don't have knowledge of what I am saying, I hope you've read through the place Kanu Nwankwo the G.O.A.T and I talk it out, about me using my experience when I was trying to get one as standard. Inbtw that I've seen toks for 1.4 on jiji, probably if priced, one maybe able to arrive at 1.3m, what's the difference in + or -? Oh! Is a dead car, you've already test drive it abi? and it's not possible according to your analysis. You need to wake up, dust that dirt of your shoulder, folks sell cars for different reasons, some even use it to launder money, some just need to get ride off the old stocks to clear new and better cars, they won't be sitting on 100 to 200k profits, when they have better fish to catch.

On Hyundai? I generalise it and you singled one out of it, how wise is that? But I'll still pick the choice you flow with. Going back to 3 yrs ago, this same car was almost flooding everywhere with 407, what happened to them today that made Corolla and Matrix still gaining egde among them? I don't know... You said it's because of high cost you stopped using them. Bros high cost or low cost, once a tool is not feasible for business, simple means it's not good for such business, forget the pampering biko. You said you sold your Elantra easily, yet Nigeria used cars are not worthy to buy, the buyers must have been very stu.pid, craz.y, senseless and fooli.sh to have put their foots in such buy I guess. Oh! I forget, you always maintain your cars. Please how much did it cost you to put the cars to work? How much did you sell them? I leave that to your faith. But one thing I just Want you to know, that selling is easy if price is right, even our villain ford, is someone's hero and probably if they can maintain it well, all will b well. Let me burst your bubble, I cant survive with heaping an idol that I'll have to drop oil on his head every 1a.m, the traffic in Lagos can b crazy, one day I'll get stuck and that nigga goan find me and wipe nonsense of my life, the beginning of a man's fall I guess... meaning, in this country, you can't be 100% right on maintenance, everything is fighting you (from filling stations, oil distributors to the ones that you will think they change Mobile 1 to XHP).

On getting an offline trip. I once picked a rider that said her friend cancels the rider the moment she notice is not Corolla or Camry, that's odd if you ask me, but who is going to tell her? For the men, they hardly care about the car, but for these our wives? You just can't see enough of them, when I was using Hyundai, one once told me she was happy about another type of car outside the norm. So it's an influx of back and forth, but with corrola/camry assurance cover you. Need you know that on Civic, most people sitting at the back find it difficult to stretch legs, Even your boy (sorry! Man) Felicity001 is looking for car and he's not putting Civic as option, I believe say e get reason.

Let's narrow down to business: You said, you sold your used cars above 1m, for want of understanding. Please can you knowledgeable buy any car used on uber for a year and months or 2 years above 1m? Can you advise anyone you know to buy such? What's the sense in buying a car for 1.6m in the name of civic, register it and incur more cost, only for them to b pricing it 700k, 600k after a year? All these stu.pid marlians with no respect for cars. Chucmoore said he's spendin 300k to fix his car, give chilex8 that 300k, I'm sure he will add 100k to it and uber car is on it way to set grin so you see what works for A may not work for B, but since he that is wearing the shoe knows where is pinching him the most, then damn perception and do what works for you. You invest, I invest and drive at least 4 days in a week, slept inside the car and start over the next day without bath, menh! Don't toy with the head I give, it's may pain, stress and regrets I'm giving out for free to save another person, and prep a better easy rolling ground for them.

Note: I'm not saying Civic is not good, for a starter with low budget, it's the best option and he or she can built from there. Please know someone with G wagon and Camry no b mate for Lekki-epe express road, if you think say I they lie, ask Korope how they act when they notice the one in front of them.

Thank you so much bro
But these places you have indicated
Like CMS bus stop front of church and under the bridge
Where can one park assuming your rider is going to any of those specific places
Also where can one park on st Gregory road and on awolowo road ikoyi assuming rider is going to that place
Is it Also okay to park and ask questions in VI regarding one way??
How do you mean the correct sign on the newly built trafic light in lekki, do you mean the U-sign post in between the road
Where can one park under the bridge in ajah??
You also advised to avoid ikeja but what do you do when you have a request
Are vehicles not allowed to make u turn on alhaji Marsha roads
The “no parking zones” in aguda are they not designated
Are there no designated places to park in ikoyi
Thank you so much bro for taking our time to pass this information
Please assume these questions asked is been asked by a new driver not too familiar with Lagos roads
I would really appreciate ur reply

You said you sold you Elentra easily, yet Nigeria used cars are not worthy to buy, the buyers most have been very stu.pid, craz.y, senseless and fooli.sh to have put their foots in such buy I guess. Oh! I forget, you always maintain your car's. Please how much did it cost you to put the cars to work? How much did you sell them? I leave that to your faith. But one thing I just Want you to know that selling is easy if price is right, even our villain ford, is someone hero and probably if the can maintain it well, all we b well. Let me burst your bubble, I can survive with heaping an idol that I'll have to drop oil on his head every 1a.m, the traffic in Lagos can b crazy, one day I'll get stuck and that nigga goan find me and wipe nonsense of my life, the beginning of a man's fall I guess... meaning, in this country, you can't be 100% right on maintenance, everything is fighting you (from filling stations, oil distributors to the ones that you will think they change Mobile 1 to XHP).

What's the sense in buying a car for 1.6m in the name of civic, register it and incur most cost, only for them to b pricing it 700k, 600k after a year? All this stu.pid marlians with no respect for cars.

This your epistle long no be small grin I don't even know where to start.....
Make I start with the most obvious statement ... You stated a tokunbo civic can land 1.2m grin.. You want make they steal am give u? ....

Another statement you made .. Elantra is hard to sell etc that the seller will be begging the owner to come and buy etc .. Parts are hard to find etc .. You lost me on that one I.. Elantra was my very first car I used on uber.. I never had issues looking for parts etc and till today elantra is still very popular for uber..

The last tokunbo elantra I sold about almost two years ago .. I bought from a private owner for $700 load it inside container for $1200 and sold it less than two weeks and still made small profit ...

Mind you When you load a car inside container it affects your profit margin .. I no get time to break it down for you... Now I no fit get elantra that same price anymore . it is expensive, it is almost like buying corolla ... So elantra are still very popular among uber drivers and private users alike.......

The only way I will use elantra again is if uber restructure their business model and increase fare and make their services more premium etc .. Trust me na elantra I go use sharp sharp......

For now elantra 2007 upwards is too classy for uber unless uber is offering premium services. Corolla is ok for uber work due to its non executive looking shape .. I will rather have an elantra of the same year of a corolla pick me up for am important event than a corolla .. There is nothing wrong with a Corolla , I agree it is stronger than an elantra .. But the car is just too local and outdated for me ....... I will even take a 2021 Elantra of the same year over a corolla ...

Uber is no more a luxury ride anymore.. As such you have to adjust accordingly I said it in the past. If you are buying tokunbo corolla , camry , vibe , matrix for ehalling you are not only wasting ur time and money But you are hustling backwards, whether civic get leg room for back or not ..uber is no more premium services anymore .. Uber cars should get you from point A to point B in comfort and safety.. Uber cars are not meant to be carry loads of people up and down .... All those riders that u said will cancel a ride because of type of car etc .. They are not serious at all .. When is time for them to pay money na story and most can't afford premium services. And that is why uber reduce their car age requirement from 2007 down to 03 .......make I drop Mic .... I need to teach you few things about business bro ..

You did the right thing bro. You want go slave for 3.5 years?

You will end up putting over 100,000 miles on that car that I'm sure has done over 200,000 miles already. By the time you're done considering our maintenance culture, that vehicle is dead already.

Nigeria banks will be happy to give out loans at a reasonable price.. Either way it is not easy for person that go borrow money and than have to pay bank ..

True. Thats why I said the owner of the vehicle is not to blame as well. The main problem is the ridiculous prices these vehicles are being sold.

How do you buy a corolla for 2.2m? Most graduates are very happy to take a 150k a month job.

How many years will it take such a graduate to save 2.2m to buy a corolla assuming he's a corolla or nothing gang grin

Boss abeg don't over get high on your supply, what I wrote there is clear enough and you are not the only cars supplier biko, I obviously won't bring private matter to public (talking about what we here thinks). When you say enough folks still uses Elantra for Uber, e b like say you they follow them park under tree for chevron, abi you they follow them sleep in front of farmcity, you can rehearse the role of Arnold behind your keyboard, but me will offer you reality.

I touched almost everything you wrote here, but since you want to cherry pick and quick to conclude, it all becomes watery and sense of weak emotions for me. About teaching me business? what works for you may not work for me. Let me narrow down to you and Felicity001, no gesture of offence please... how many months did you guys worked as partner? how much did he bring to the table? How much did you use to fix the car when the going was good and after? Business 101

Please no cherry picking.

No cherry picking, I have questions begging for answers, but you keep looking for fault to buy your way out. The elantra you want to sell for 1.3, if I offer u 1.2/1.1, won't you accept it? Then what's the big deal if I narrow a car of 1.4 price tag on jiji to 1.2m or you just feel you can hold on to this point to make mountain out of mole hill.

Note: wot I quote was what I got when I was trying to get one and as at yesterday I saw 1.4 on jiji, are we clear now?

Please answer my questions and stop cherry picking, cos from that, you will enter ur last straw (memes).
