If you’re still criticizing this Kano-Maradi rail line project after listening to the Economic impact of the project by the Transport Minister, then you’re not being constructive in your criticism. Why not counter his claim with logical arguments, than argue without facts?

What are d economic impact u are referring? Can u pls share?

I hear d rail line will help nigeria import crude oil from Niger. Is that an economic impact?

A Lagos-Calabar rail line is by far more useful tbh. Not just for people but for oil, agric produce, containers, etc.

The problem, like with power, is that Rail transport is legally the responsibility of the FG. I don't think regional governments can do anything about rail lines, unless as a contractor.

The Minister clearly stated Nigeria is not doing too well as compared to other coastal States in West Africa. Reason being that countries in the Hinterland are afraid to use our roads. In avoiding that, they use Ghana, Togo, Benin etc.

Siting of projects can either be Politics or Economics. Clearly it’s not Politics as the The Minister is from Rivers State and the President is from Katsina State. How do you make our seaports competitive without providing those Hinterland States ease of transportation? If you have a better alternative, then let’s hear it.

Are you from a polygamous home?

Stop building more colleges and start building industries and factories that will employ both the educated and half-educated folks. Build hospitals, and healthcare facilities that can employ nurses, surgical techs, medical assistants, nursing assistants, mental health technicians, phlebotomists, and e.t.c. Build community colleges where youths can go and study some of these healthcare skills that I mentioned, and see the people not only earn a great living, but also help the sick.

When will these old folks running Nigeria stop thinking that everyone must go to 4 year college before they can start looking for the job that doesn't even exist ?

Africa and the world should be trooping to Nigeria for medical tourism considering the fact that Nigeria has the most brilliant brains both academically and fraud ( yes it takes one with a higher IQ to do fraud, which I am not in support of)

Enough of effing universities already!

Too many foolish Young Nigerians speaking.

Many of then would still fail when it regards leadership, most of are yahoo boys just looking for their maga to pay so they can bang the next girl they have fantasies about.

What is wrong with the contractor building a university in Rivers State?

Why is building an international train route a problem?
Don't you watch TV or do we just watch movies without keen observation?

Have you not seen countries do similar things?

No matter the talk, CRA is doing great.

You all were taught about means of transportation which includes rail/railway.
Yet I'm sure 80% have never been in a moving train in Nigeria.
Amaechi is doing things to ensure this changes, but you are too blinded by the nonsense your foolish fathers and lazy mothers told you about North/South Dichotomy. You refuse to think.

whether you like it or not, Nigeria will wax stronger

Bollock.
Listening to Amaechi on channels on Sunday, I couldn't help but pity the man.
If you want to see a castrated man with big eyes, just watch that interview on YouTube.
Same boisterous Amaechi who before 2015 threatened to form a parallel govt can't even speak freely anymore.
He looked out of sorts, turned the programme to a farcical joke and kept wriggling around the studio like a worm. It was a sickening and saddening sight albeit one which reminds us that every man has his price. It might not be cash. It might be something else. But every man has something that can be used to cajole or coerce him.

He needs to be in control of rivers state to speak that confidently even on national issues. Lol. For now he's just doing public office work. Wike is running rivers on 2nd term. Not a strong position for Ameachi to have mouth.

Did you watch the interview?
It shows how intolerant this present govt is to divergent opinion if someone like Amaechi who is known for speaking his mind can be so gagged.
Imagine. He was asked the benefit of the rail, he said he's not finance ministry.
He was asked the trade volume between Niger and Nigeria, he said he's not ministry of trade.
Then he was asked about solution to herdsmen and he said he's only allowed to speak on transport.
Just imagine!! A whole Amaechi the so-called lion of ubima cringing from questions like that?!

Illiterate. Lagos kano is more important than Lagos calabar because
Kano imports more cargoes than calabar and kano is industrialized state, calabar is not
Kano can bring agricultural produce to Lagos something calabar can’t boast of
There’s no oil in calabar
Kano is more populated than calabar

Who said the rail line is for the importation of crude? The sole purpose of the rail line is to encourage Hinterlands like Niger to use our seaport.
Can’t you come up with a logical argument without accusing someone of receiving peanut?
Counter the Minister’s claim like a reasonable person that I want to believe you are, rather than resort to cheap blackmail.

You hit the nail on the head!

That interview revealed a lot for those who are discerning.
Is he telling us that the different ministries work at tangent?
Was he simply handed a project to execute for which he didn't need to go through the details?
With the congestion at Lagos ports how do you get Niger to deal through Nigeria rather than other West African countries they already go through?
Will they be willing to bear demurrage simply because it is Nigeria than avoid it going through other countries?
Or will they be given preferred treatment over Nigerian businesses?

The failure of the minister to CLEARLY articulate the economic benefits shows that there is more to the project than we are been told.

His repeated comments to 'go and find out' also showed that he was on air more for a 'public relations' thing than to COMMUNICATE clear and meaningful information to the people.

Niger is rich in Uranium and they are a major exporter of it. Uranium can be ferried using the rail line down to Lagos Seaport. We have other examples.
Do you have a better alternative to what the Minister proposed?

What's the economic importance or impact of Kano–Maradi railway line?
I don't get it how FG won't ever get their priorities right. We have many industrial and commercial thriving cities that are yet to get railway connected to it. This project is as good as rubbish.
