Hi Newbies

Here is a breakdown of all the charges on Bamboo!

We currently charge 1.5% on all buy and sell trades. You will see the "Estimated Commission" on the page when you review your Buy/Sell order. At this point you can choose to go ahead and make the trade or not. We will certainly give notice if our Trade Fee is going to change.

Deposits have a 1.4% processing fee on Naira card transactions and barter transactions (capped at 2,000 Naira), a 150 Naira processing fee on Naira bank transfers, while there is a 2.9% processing fee on Dollar card transactions.

There is an extra fee on instant deposits which is 0.1% (with a minimum fee of $1 and a maximum fee of $10). This means that if 0.1% of what you are depositing is more than $10, the extra fee will be $10. However, if 0.1% of what you are depositing is less than $1, the extra fee will be $1.

The processing fees for wire transfers vary across different banks.

If you deposited from a Naira payment option, you can only withdraw to a Naira account. If you deposited from a USD payment option, you can only withdraw to a USD account. There is a withdrawal fee of ₦45 to Naira bank accounts and $45 to USD bank accounts.

Finally, there is a 30% WHT (Withholding Tax) on dividends, which is a mandatory tax taken by the U.S. government for individuals buying stock outside of the U.S.

Factor the above into your profit.
What?!

A proper answer to the bolded depends on several parameters that are specific to you. Things like your age, marital status, income, tax implications, objectives and risk profile among others determine an investment’s suitability for you.
I do not know your plan
Why you in the market?. You have to have a strategy, are you an investors or a trader?
This and many more questions you need to answer before i can possibly suggest a stock.

Today's Lectures
How do you do your “due diligence” when trading stocks? Many people have asked this questions on this thread

What are fundamentals and stuff I should look in a stock when researching?

How do you perform company analysis and stock valuation once you have identified an attractive opportunity? In this write up I hold nothing back and explain how I use my Five Step Research Process to perform company due diligence and stock valuation:

The Five Step Research Process consists of the following steps:

Step 1: Company Quality Assessment

Company quality is based on the quality of the business, the management team and the balance sheet.

Business quality: How structurally attractive is the industry? How strong is the company's competitive advantage? Is it getting stronger or weaker?

Management quality: How competent is the management team at operations and capital allocation? How aligned are their incentives with the shareholders?

Balance sheet quality: Is the balance sheet strong enough to withstand temporary adversity without the company being forced to raise capital on unattractive terms?

Step 2: Analysis of Key Economic Variables

This step aims to:

-Identify the handful of economic variables that will have the greatest impact on the business’s long-term economics, and
-Estimate a reasonable range of outcomes for each variable.

Step 3: Financial Modeling

The third step of the process begins where the second step ended. Having identified the key economic variables and a reasonable range of values for each, I use that analysis to model the company’s income statement, balance sheet and cash flow statement, and then create three scenarios: worst case, base case and best case.

Step 4: Valuation

My basic valuation tool for stocks is the discounted cash flow model (DCF) of equity free cash flows forecasted in the prior step. I use the same discount rate – 10% – for all companies and all scenarios.

The DCF can be an imperfect tool. A reasonable criticism is that it is overly sensitive to small input changes and to user manipulation of assumptions. To guard against these, I cross-check DCF-derived values against other measures such a valuation multiples (e.g. normalized P/E, EV/EBITA) and private market transactions.

Step 5: Behavioral Checklist

Before investment analysis is complete, I apply a checklist designed to identify things that I may have missed as well as behavioral biases that may have influenced my analysis. This is a dynamic list; it has been evolving over time, reflecting lessons learned from past mistakes made by me and by other investors.

Doing thorough fundamental analysis and valuation work is an important part of any value investing process. The Five Step Research Process helps ensure a systematic and repeatable approach that helps minimize the impact of behavioral biases.

AUVI was bomb today grew 500 percent before closing at 270 percent. I entered late and I was able to make some gain, sold and bought again when the price dropped but it kept dropping till the close of market
This is my first trade and i already learnt my lesson. Sure tomorrow will be better. Thanks for the tips.
And when is the best time to enter?

Best time to enter is look at the trend. I'm never keen to enter at a stock moving at its highest point. Also, look for catalysts; earnings calls, partnership announcements, change in leaderhsip. These may cause some sellofs/dips where you can enter at, that's if you beleive in the business and have done your DD. Information is key, always. Buy the rumour, sell the news

I get a lot of questions on how I “scan” for stocks and how I look for potential stocks to trade / invest in. Here are two methods that I use to look for potential trades. This is just one way of looking for stocks out of many different ways. Hopefully this helps some of you who struggle to find stocks. You can find stocks with other methods but try this method out and see if you can find stocks that you like.

P.S you can also filter or find stocks by sector / industry and narrow down the hottest sector of the market right now, or if you know of a sector that can potentially have huge growth in the future, you can look into that as well and research some of the companies within that sector / industry.

Here’s a method of finding potential stocks to trade.
With this method, we’re going to strictly focus on volume.

High Volume = More Interest in that stock

Meaning more trading activity in that stock.

Now here’s how you can check stocks that have a lot of Volume —>

#1 key in finding stocks in general to DAYtrade is to make sure they are volatile and have a lot volume (Volume means a lot of liquidity)

When you trade Options, it’s best to keep a BASKET of stocks that already can produce a good daily volume and that you can keep looking at. And the thing i love about this way of scanning for stocks is that you are still looking at stocks based on volume.

Not only are you looking at stocks that has had a lot of volume or is having an increase in volume but you can filter it to see if the company is worth buying.

Are you a long term investor looking to set yourself up for retirement? Building your long term portfolio as soon as possible will get you that much closer to setting yourself up for life. Dividend stocks are companies that pay their investors with earnings either quarterly or annually. Here are six things to look for when investing in a good dividend paying stock.

Dividend 2-5%
Payout ratio < 65%
CAGR 5% it MUST have an effective hedge against inflation
Earning growth > 5%
>10yrs dividend increase
$10b capital base

On Wednesday, Roundhill Investments launched the Roundhill Streaming Services & Technology ETF (NYSE ARCA: SUBZ), the first ETF globally designed to invest in companies in the streaming sector. It’s another way for the markets to make a push into a popular aspect of technology that shows no sign of slowing down.
“Media streaming continues to grow rapidly as more consumers abandon traditional media and subscribe to a select number of streaming services. This transition, accelerated over recent years, has taken place across multiple industries including video, audio, and even gaming,” said Roundhill Investments Portfolio Manager Mario Stefanidis.
SUBZ holdings include video streaming platforms Netflix (5.96% weight) and FuboTV (4.12% weight), audio streaming platforms Spotify (5.73% weight) and Tencent Music (5.62% weight), and streaming technology companies Roku (5.96% weight) and J-Stream (5.04% weight).

If you consider yourself a long-term investor and not a trader...then don’t get caught up in the day-to-day market volatility...

As J.P. Morgan famously replied, when asked what the stock market will do, he responded, “It will fluctuate”...

Reading through your posts because you're hella smart and dropping wisdom everywhere, but I disagree with your take on holding winners. If you;re trading, youshould have a clear-defined exit strategy, because as easily as it can soar to +500%, it can come crashing down. Nobody ever got broke by taking profits. Don't get greedy.

LauraClasikVibe:
Focus on your patience and the rest is history! You can be great at picking a nice portfolio, but it won’t matter if you can’t control your emotions.

Patience is the most important trait of investing. It’s all about the ability to not panic when you see your portfolio value drop 30-50%. It’s also about the ability to continue holding a winner even after you’ve made 500%.

Most people let their emotions get to them by panicking out of positions when markets pullback or they take profits too soon when they are up.

Once you understand patience, then you can focus on finding great companies to buy and hold for a long time and you will realize the true potential of ginormous gains. If you don’t have the patience, your portfolio won’t matter as you won’t be capitalizing on its true potential.

Are you a patient investor?

Stock is all of the shares into which ownership of a corporation is divided. In American English, the shares are collectively known as "stock". A single share of the stock represents fractional ownership of the corporation in proportion to the total number of shares-Wkipidia
