Hi,

How much can I set up an inverter that will power a laptop?

If it's laptop alone, best you buy a laptop power bank.

The one I bought from a seller here on Nairaland is 400,000 Mah. Powers both laptop and standing fan. It's pricey though. 120k.

You can get one that costs less with lower Mah

Am sorry, but I doubt your battery bank is 400ah for that price.

Just my honest opinion

I think the ah they sold to you is way lower than that.

By the way what is the back up time?

400,000mah is equivalent to 400amp.
The cheapest 200amp in d market is abt 90k.
Do the math.
Are u sure of the price and mah?

My brother Eh, it was after buying it that my eyes opened to the rubbish I bought.

The seller is here on Nairaland, he promised me that it'll carry my fan, flat screen TV and laptop for 8 hours. And he's been dealing since 2015 with good reviews so I trusted him.

See his link: https://www.nairaland.com/2182890/buy-laptop-powerbanks-deep-cycle

Paid the 120k only to find out the thing can't even power standing fan alone for 8 hours let alone the other two. The thing takes almost 40 mins to add one percent when charging but loses one percent after 15mins.

I've been living with the regret since.

What do u mean by backup time?

Upload the pictures of the battery here if you can, but after going through his thread, he only posted 26ah and 40amp batteries although they are lithium ion batteries. Which type of standing fan do you use on it?

If I wanted to be wicked, I wouldn't have stated the downsides for me. I only regret buying it because the seller promised it'll carry other gadgets for me. If used purely only for laptop, it's very good.

Besides, he can make his own research and get good cheaper ones.

Sorry about your experience sir. My story would have been similar to yours, only that I was careful to do due diligence. Let me share my story.

Just after the lockdown was eased, I began looking out for a laptop power bank to power my laptop as I was learning animations then and I needed to be on my PC for long hours.

This particular guy was one of the first few people I reached out to, and he quoted similar price to me. I reasoned thus within myself, "in 2018, I did an inverter setup from the information I gleaned from this thread. The inverter setup then didnt cost me more than 60k then and it was able to carry my laptop and binatone standing fan for a couple of hours, before the battery went completely bad. Why then would I spend a whopping 120k to power only laptop?"

So I began frequenting the inverter threads here on Nairaland and was networking and getting enough information, until I made significant head and got a good system. This particular guy is even a reseller. That system is a clever contraption made with Lithium batteries. I have the contact of the guy who constructs them at Alaba International. The guy you bought from resells with a profit of at least 30k. I am not against the guy reselling the product, but it is sad that he is being deceitful. I could have fallen into the same trap, buy my Chi was alive.

Abdulasod, I recall that we spoke at length on Monday night. See, the moment one begins to look for powerbank for laptop, it is just best for that person to begin his inverter journey, because the cost of getting a specialised laptop powerbank will easily get you a decent 100ah battery and inverter. And you can easily scale up from there.

Exactly what my guy who is into solar told me. He Said if I'd added like 10 or 20k, I would have gotten a jumbo inverter and battery, whatever he means by that.

Anyway, in life we win some, we lose some. It's not a total loss sha. At least, on hot nights, it powers my fan and saves me cost of buying fuel.

This is my own version of laptop powerbank.
No inverter, it's aimed for an efficient power usage.
Comes with charger, has dual USB for mobile charging , Compatible with solar.

Although I'm just starting this,
made one for a customer, objective was to run a laptop for 10-12hrs, fortunately it powered the laptop for 15hrs.

It was just a 40ah, total capacity,
I.e 14.8v., 10,000mah

Sold For 25k
He was so happy.

Though make varieties.
10hrs, 20hr, 30hr run time on laptop And more

This is lovely!

But I am finding it very hard to believe it lasted for 15hours ooo. Unless your customer uses a mini-laptop with power rating of 20 - 30watts.

Care to clarify?
