She's not an adult. Hence, she may not truly know what she is doing.
That's why the court of law will seriously punish that man if sued. He's just grooming the child for his own selfish desires.
Nothing here is the girl's fault

From the conversation, you don’t show your daughter love or spend quality time with her and now she’s craving for the only place love is coming from, her teacher.
There will be bad times bringing up kids. Pray for knowledge or go for counseling on children upbringing if you lack it and stop picking on the innocent child. Every teenager or kid was once stubborn at some stage in their life. You were too. Please start showing your daughter more love and when you do, she won’t easily fall for such tricks from her teacher.
Use the money for suing to take your daughter out for shopping. It’s a season of love

What do people do with phones? They use it for phone things.

There's nothing inherently bad about a 15 year old using a phone with internet access. What may not be desirable as far as parenting is concern is unrestricted and unregulated access to the phone and it's capabilities.

I met my 15 year old female cousin for the first time during a week-long event and she absolutely blew my mind in no small measure. What I saw in her was a teen who's WIDELY READ. She had written several teen stories on an online bookstore. Very original, with impeccable use of English.

The way she thinks and formed her thoughts and opinions was something I expect from an above average adult. We discussed a lot of topics and themes. She is naturally intelligent but there was no way she'd be able to know all that she knows without internet and gadgets.

She uses Twitter, and Facebook but I have no problem or fear about her being negatively influenced to great effects. She'd be too enlightened to fall for dumb glitter. At that level, I can allow such a kid some freedom and trust their judgement to know what's good and bad for them.

the bolded so how do you tackle it?

Baba, a child can be well read without the use of phone. Also, saying there is no way that she would know all the things she knows without internet, is wrong. Before the internet didn't people know things? Many of the things you listed can be gained without the internet.

There are numerous options to set up parental control on websites and apps on phones. There's Google's parental guidance parents can look to implement. And there are other specific softwares and browser plugins your can activate. You can monitor a lot of the activities they can carryout on phones. You can catch inappropriate phrases and words too.

All the above and more stringents restrictions are possible. We can completely keep them of social networks because I see little use of them even for adults.

Yes, she can know a lot without the internet. But Don't you limit the efficacy of the statement that the 'internet is information at your fingertips.' when i say that I was impressed by a 15 year old, I wasn't impressed by the fact that she was good at 'school'. I was impressed that she was knowledgeable far beyond what is common for someone her age. Even the questions she asks when not knowledgeable about a thing portrays someone who knows how to learn.

We are not talking about knowledge 'teachers' impact on people. I'm talking about knowledge one acquires that go on to define us.

If I have to wait to read from a physical book before I'd get knowledge, then I don't think I'll know 'anything'.

Whatever we learn from each other by having this discussion wouldn't be possible otherwise without so many things that technology and internet have made trivial.

the first bolded,
You are correct about parental controls. But not having a phone in the first place would render all those precautions/controls unnecessary. You are also forgetting something, the phone can be carried around, what stops a child from giving the phone to a friend that can bypass the parental controls? In this case a desktop computer is best.

the second bolded,
i did not mean school knowledge, when i gave you my initial comment. there are multiple ways we can acquire knowledge. The internet is one of them. But do you also know that there are a lot of fake news, fake knowledge on the internet? how would a child discern which is fake and which is not? even adults have difficulty doing that. Look at instagram the beauty standards there are so insane that girls are doing crazy things. I am sure you heard of the girl that used gorilla glue on her heard, she is actually a 40year old woman oh. Silhouette challenge nko?

the third bolded,
Lol, we are both adults. i am assuming you are above 18. i dont hate the internet or tech. But in my opinion there is nothing that tech and the internet is offering currently that would warrant a child of 15 to have a phone.

We can completely keep them of social networks because I see little use of them even for adults.
grin grin grin you missed it with that quote. As of today the heart and soul of the internet is social media/network. Remove whatsapp, facebook, twitter, instagram etc from a phone then you have rendered that phone useless, the average user would not enjoy it, you might as well not have given the user a phone in the first place.

Mobility can hinder access to information on-the-go. But I agree it can help prevent giving the phone to another person to help bypass restrictions.

If you put those restrictions in place you'll know if someone tempers with them.

And you think the cure for naivety is less information and knowledge? No wonder the whites wowed our ancestors with mirrors grin

There's danger in ignorance. There's danger in consuming fake news. There's danger in consuming half truths. But there's less danger in consuming whole story and acting on that knowledge.

Keeping them off it completely might look the best option. But know there's always the good, the bad and ugly. Introducing them to the good parts early helps prepares them to the reality of the bad parts in the future. A bad part they'll eventually get to see, probably when the parent have lost all opportunity to influence them to the benefits.

Nah! This paragraph of yours is where I see you completely are missing the point of giving people information. It's what they make use of it that matters at the end.

All those apps you mentioned can be many things to different people depending on who you ask. The majority of those apps are the glitter of today's cyberspace. But the real substance are not on there.

Some celebrities on this platforms make a post or two a day, spending less than 20 minutes on there. They promote their brands and partners and earn money because of their reach. While the average user spends 3-4 hours surfing peoples opinions and doing challenges without showing any productivity.

nawa oh. you last paragraph. remember we are talking of a child not celebrities or adults, AH! what is a child going to be promoting? You are the one missing it.

Dont worry lets leave it.

I dont wish to argue much this year. When you have children do whatever you feel is best for them, i'll do the same for my own children.

You nailed this

Teenage girls are very difficult to manage. After suing the school and the wayward teacher, the parents will still have to sit down and do a lot of work on their daughter, because it's easier to train her than to fight off every man that comes around.
