The 36 Governors of the Federation have agreed to end the practice of nomadic rearing of cattle in view of its increasing adverse security effects on the country.

The Governors came to this agreement at the 25th virtual meeting of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) held on Wednesday.

They were however silent on the date they plan to put a stop to open grazing and movement of cattle by herders.

In a communique at the end of the meeting, which was made public on Thursday evening by the NGF’s secretariat, the Governors also cautined against ethnic profiling upon being briefed about the posture of the Northern Governors’ Forum (NGF) on the issue by their Chairman and Plateau Governor, Simon Lalong.

It said: “Following an update from governors on the various initiatives taken by State governments to address the rising insecurity in the country due to the activities of herdsmen, members reached a consensus on the need for the country to transition into modern systems of animal husbandry that will replace open, night and underage grazing in the country.

“State governments are encouraged to put in place systems to accelerate the grazing initiative of the National Livestock Transformation Plan (NLTP) and ranching in the country.

“The forum respects the right of abode of all Nigerians and strongly condemns criminality and the ethnic profiling of crime in the country in an effort to frame the widespread banditry and the herdersfarmers crisis.

“In the light of the economic and security risks that have arisen from these circumstances, the forum resolved to urgently convene an emergency meeting of all Governors.

“The Chairman of the Northern States Governors’ Forum (NSGF) and Governor of Plateau State, Rt Hon. Simon Bako Lalong provided an update on steps taken by the Governors of the nineteen (19) Northern States and cautioned against the tagging of ethnic groups based on the misbehavior of a few criminally minded individuals.

“He (Lalong) called on State governors to address this matter head-on in their various states.”

The meeting also dwelt on ways to ensure effective destribution of the coronavirus vaccines when the are available in the country and agreed the health workers should first benefit.

They should wait till the killings get to their door

Be wise, illiterates has taken over this platform

Don't judge a whole tribe simply because of individual opinion. Note that politicians laid tribalism foundation in this trap called country for their selfish interest. Now ask yourself, what is the population of politicians and their agents, and what is the population of neutral Nigerians.

Beware Nigerians. This is the time to know and understand the true identity of those who cause tribalism on here, they are paid agents, they are neither from east or west, some are not Nigerian. They have more than twenty monikers, they would create tribal related topics and make tribal comments with different monikers to cause chaos between southerners. Though, they have no conscience but you can try to educate them or better ignore them. They are easy to identify, use your head brothers.
They dominate this platform. They are evil and restless until their aim is achieved

2023, the year of "stone any bad politician".

What blood shed and killing of innocent people could not do, ESN and Sunday Igboho did. So this people dey fear make this zoo no break. grin grin grin

And herdsmen are still killing in Ogun undecided

What's the punishment for any herdsman caught in the south?

Did they agree on that too?

Except Buhari personally tells them to leave the south they ain't going nowhere.

This one is still busy glorifying Nnamdi Kanu.
Where's the connection between this topic and Nnamdi Kanu?

Better but still no to water resource bill and RUGA esp. because cattle rearing is not a government venture hence herdsmen should buy lands and ranch their animals.

Southern govnrs de fall my hand. This is an avenue to also bring the business interest of the southerners to the discussion table. Frequent destruction of beer in the north by hisbah hurts the economy and business growth of southerners in the north.

First the SW was the first to establish Amotekun and that was when Kanu thought about ESN when your governors failed to act.

Secondly, The SW governors were one of the first to collectively ban open grazing and called Miyetti Allah people to order that it’s no more business as usual. The SE governors only pronounced their own ban after the SW did theirs.

Thirdly, the Fulanis are feeling the heat from people all around from the West-SS-SE-MB.

The effort of SW/SE governors, Igboho (burning their houses), Media hammering on it, ESN, SS (Edo), Ortom (MB), and the animosity the Fulanis are facing around the South is a message to the government that things will soon escalate and Fulanis will soon become endangered species in the South when things finally completely go out of hand.

However I don’t care about their meeting of action if it’s not followed by action. All the herdsmen in the South should start relocating to the grazing reserve that Ganduje said he’s building and the other Northern governors should do the same.

They have become quick to look for a solution because people are now fighting the killer herdsmen back, had it been that they weren't fighting back, nothing would have happened.

It is going to be another herculean task to get rid of this crises, even if the government implement ranching. The criminals have already tasted ransom money via kidnapping activities. They are not just going to let go of their assumed way of easy money making.

Those saying that the fulani herdsmen should not be profiled are enemies of this country. They have to be profiled to know those who are not Nigerians among them and then bundle them in cages back to their countries of origin. It's like these governors don't know their left from right.

Good morning to 36 governors.

So, they knew that's the best thing to do all these while and kept quiet. Until the whole tribe in the country opposed the Fulani tribe after destroying villages and farmlands.

God will punish all our politicians.
