Hello People, I applied for a master's in 3 Canadian universities now and currently waiting for their favorable considerations of my applications but I'm disturbed if my current age could be a barrier. I'm 42 going to 43 now and not sure if I could scale this visa people hurdle. please, from the experience gathered so far, could anyone throw more light as regard age in this race. thank you.

Your age definitely makes it harder, I can't say impossible because I'm no expert in the field.

Thanks Baphil, school resumption date is May 2022.

I will be 41 this year, will it be advisable to use sponsor or present myself as sponsoring myself.

I have two children, mother, brothers and sisters with a building owned by me. Plan is to use my children, siblings and property as home ties.

I currently work, 16 years experience practicing what I studied in school here in Nigeria and about going for same course but higher degree.

Please what are my chances?

Baphil:
Did you mean to write May 2021?

If yes, you are already running late. Start and finish today if possible!!!

If 2022, I would advice you start gathering all necessary documents and apply by September to December this year.

All the best

Congrats @ditha. I am so happy for you especially because I also experienced how challenging this online study and visa journey has been. It’s been 6 months now from September till now. Whew! I can’t wait to get my passport back and touch down Canada too.
It will end in praise!

Congratulations to all those with their 'Love letters'.

Those that have applied for their SPs will rejoice this year.

Those that are preparing one document or the other to apply will do so without mistakes.

We that are waiting for admission offers will receive.

IN THE END, IT WILL END IN PRAISE

Hello everyone, please I need clarification on something. Is WAEC results a determining factor in any stage during application for student Visa. I'm applying for a Masters in communication and Technology at University of Alberta and WAEC isn't a requirement. I just want to know if it'll affect my chances during visa application because I had a D7 in Mathematics in my WAEC. I'm planning on writing again if it is going to affect anything.

Hello Nike66,

Applying with 5.5 band in any of the band module is at your sole discretion. My previous post already expatiated on it.

If you mean admisison, then yes, you can defer if you can't meet resumption or if you don't want to take online classes. If you're referring to the visa application, its not possible.

Best of Luck

1) IOMLagosClinicalTeam@iom.int

2) There is no specific timeframe as regards that. It can take days, weeks, a month for it to reflect on your CIC Profile.

Now that you av done your Upfront medicals, it expected of you to send your e-medical SHEET (a long slip given to you at IOM) via Webform & Mail to CIC Nairobi immigration and also send to E-mail address of other Immigration offices.

3) No fixed duration like I said initially, but it shouldn't be more than a Month if its gonna take long

4) Await a response to this question from other members

Thanks a lot for the response. It's not upfront, I was asked to submit medical. Thanks all the same.

oh, okay then, thought it was an Upfront medical you did, in that case, you don't need to send anything via Webform or via mail.

Since IOM have sent you a response that your medical result has bin sent to the Canadian embassy, all you jz gotta do is wait till it reflects on your CIC Profile

You are welcome

Good afternoon.

I have a pricking question.

If someone pays full tuition to a school and when he arrives, decided to change his course of study, will it be accepted?

That's if the student has not registered any course at all.
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 18 by Admin9: 3:54pm On Feb 12, 2021
I have another question:

Between these courses, which one is more profitable in canada?

Masters in Risk and Safety Engineering
Masters in Oil and Gas engineering
Masters in Energy Systems engineering

Thanks

Aren't you cutting it too close? Thats like only 6 weeks till May 2021. The current regular average processing time for Nigeria is 14 weeks.

I kindly suggest you just prepare everything now and shoot your shot immediately your offer letter drops. You can add IELTS result later via webform. The elders in the house can comment as I'm still a novice as well.

I will advice against asking this question cos this is your career plan and can't be decided on answers persons give you. Therefore I suggest you look inwards and consider where u would like to be in 5yrs. All courses are good and profitable as long as its canada but the final decision rests on you

Good day all. I hope this meets you well.

I have been an ardent follower of this priceless thread for years. So I decided to give it a go as Australia is doing pin pon with their border reopeneing. Please spare me sometime to go through the documents and information in my possession already and advise me in any way you can.

Degree: BSc Physics and Astronomy (2013)

CGPA: 4.06/5.00

IELTS: 7.5 Overall

Work Experience: Insurance Company(2016-2018)
Bancassurance(With a top leading
bank 2018 till date)
Please note that I worked at an Environmental consulting firm from 2014-2016. Though I don't have the employment letter with me as I lost it a long time ago.

Travel History: Singapore 2019( For the Company's annual business conference.

Sponsor: A long standing close family friend who was my late dad's apprentice. History of him taking care of the family after my father died can be found in my bank statement as old as year 2015 as he has been making constant huge and small cash deposits in my bank account.
He owns a registered company and has up to 20-25 million in his bank statement together with various registered landed properties.
He recently made cash deposits of 10mill(3,3,4) in my account using his name for my tuition fee and is going to make an electronic transfer of 10mill using his company's name, for my living expenses.

My personal savings: I have a total of about 5 million in my other personal account.

Family ties: I am the first of the three children my late father left my widowed mother with. I am the one paying their school fees, rent and other house expenses.
Also, I have a fiance who I will legally marry once my Visa is out.

Now, I am looking at going for MBA in Simon Fraser(2 yrs) or UNB(One yr).

Of course, I intend switching course once I get there.

What are my chances please?

Thank you for your time.

@Frankrobbn1

What program are u interested in pursuing. Let it be related to your current job experience. E get why

Your close friend being your sponsor is a red flag. I understand the relaiand how he is close to the family but its a red flag and visa officers dont buy it easily. So I advice you move your 1y or 2yrs tuition fee plus 10kcad living expenses into your account and stand as a self-sponsored. I will advice against lump sums being dumped into your account to achieve this as well.

This is the only way your chances could increase.

As long as you can package yourself and provide convincing evidence. You're good to go. The rest is by grace.
