Please where are the accredited centers for covid test in the UK. How can one get it done and how much

Are you in Nigeria? If so, why do you want to do a covid test in UK?

By the way, there are very many places to privately do covid tests in the UK. Google is your friend?

Boots the chemist does as well as other major chemists or drug stores. There are test centres as well as self administered test kits used... The package is sent by post for analysis.

It is not like Nigeria, most test centres will be approved and there is no big issue about accredited by the government.

Google and read the reviews. I also had to Google to find these things when I had someone going to Nigeria. Most UK people will not know or need to know covid test centres unless travelling...

As for travel Covid tests - fit to fly. I know someone that used Collision at the Airport recently. Collison are at the major airports - Manchester, Heathrow, Gatwick etc. And it cost £99 (100pounds). Result in less than 24 hours.

Test prices range from 99-150 or more.

Good morning full house,
Pls I don't know how true this could be, am hearing that the UK is coming up with new rules this 15th February, as regards anyone coming to the UK will go and self isolate in a particular hotel where you pay about 50k a day. I thought if you are going to visit a family friend that will accommodate you is to isolate in the family friend"s house that invited you. Living Nigeria to the UK towards the end march for 2wks visit for the Easter. Pls just asking for clarification. Thank you .

This your plan will not work. If you even manage to pay your fees etc with a student job, it will be at the expense of your grades. Biomedical sciences is a great course and you will most likely get a job in the NHS on completion. I will strongly advise that you focus on getting a distinction grade which will at least give you an advantage above your peers. A student job might be able to cover a part of your living expenses, but it shouldn't be relied upon.

I have 2 friends who studied biomed but couldn’t get a job before they were forced to leave the country. Maybe it’s cos they worked all the time to pay their tuition like you pointed out, or maybe they couldn’t get the needed certs to allow them practice.

Last last your advice is spot on.

Let me borrow you for one second.

Put yourself in England’s shoes. You travel from abroad and then you want to quarantine in someone’s house. That person likely has a family. The point is, the house is not empty. You will eat in the house, touch door knobs in the house and lick spoon in the house. And you know Nigerians, we can’t talk without shouting or laughing out loud that saliva will be everywhere (little wonder why BAME community is mostly infected).

If you mistakenly catch the virus from Nigeria or the airport, you will infect them, and they will infect others, if they are part of the “I won’t wear mask brigade”.

Then UKs 20k daily cases will increase because of you.

Would you, if you were England, be happy to allow anybody quarantine in their family friend’s house?

This is true, from Monday 15th February all international flight passengers especially from the red zones will be taken straight from the airports to a hotel to isolate for 10 days at a cost of £1, 750. If you are visiting that’s most of your shopping money gone. cool

You can use CityDoc or Boots. CityDoc cost £200 as at December while Boots was £120 but Boots required a booking 28 days in advance of test date as at December, not sure if that's changed.

You don't have to stay up to 6months to get credit card.

Use online eligible credit cards checker to see cards you have high chances of getting before you apply as each application makes it more difficult to get the next. Register to vote ,put some bills on direct debit. Then try capital one or vanquis after confirming with their eligibility checkers.

Thank you, we actually checked online but a few centers we saw online denied doing such tests even when I could clearly see it stated.

We eventually opted to do it Manchester airport. Thanks all

Is this only for ppl on visiting visa?

But I don't understand all these rationale yet. Travelers must test negative before they travel then on getting here isolate for 10days. I know someone who has only stayed for about 2 weeks he had to leave for naija before his return date because he has an important exam to write. He still had too do covid test again

I realized getting an accommodation as a johnny just come in the UK is an arduous task, you apply as if applying for jobs then they will tell u they are running checks. I tell you for a fact, sometimes they don't. If you ask from your referee, you will realize that they were not contacted.

I will advice OP to exert efforts, and a very sure link is getting linked up to a house owner if you are lucky to find one

True. But the Op said they are moving from Essex so I’m assuming they aren’t really new in the UK.

Good morning house,
Please is it feasible to rent a 2 bedroom flat in UK from Nigeria? I'm in need of a 2 bedroom flat around Gillingham for a family of 5. The three kids are same sex. I will appreciate your guidance. Thank you.

The people to self isolate in the hotels to pay the £1,750 are people coming from countries marked as red list and Nigeria is currently not part of the red list countries.
“ How to book a place in a quarantine hotel and arrange coronavirus (COVID-19) tests if you're travelling to England from a country on the banned travel list.” (As seen on the gov.uk website, please visit the website for more information on this).

Regarding the payment plan, you have to make a deposit of £3,000 before you can be issued CAS. Then you’ll pay 50% of the total outstanding tuition fees on or before the start date for classes and the outstanding balance on or before the end of two months or is it three months? But that’s the pattern, so just prepare your mind. Wishing you all the best.

Hi, I intend to apply for the master's program in Biomedical Sciences at the University of Chester starting in October 2021. I will like to know more about the availability of student jobs there because I plan to cover part of my fees and living expenses with wages gotten from my part-time job. Also, you mentioned that you know someone that finished from Chester. I will appreciate if you can help me find out about their payment plan. I know I have to pay 3k first but I don't know how soon I will have to pay the remainder. Thanks.

Thank you very much for the response. I hope it doesn't get to London soon as I have bought ticket already. Thanks a lot
Mamatukwas:

Scotland has already but this in place. Currently international travelers landing directly in Scotland have to quarantine for 10days in a hotel at a cost of £1,750. I will not be surprised if the rest of the UK puts up something similar shortly. Right now the Scots are viewing England as the weakest link on this Covid matter so there might be a response. Think of your trip very well.

I have just re read it again and it states that travellers from those red zone counties are banned but British residents who happen to pass through or from those countries will do the hotel isolation. All other travellers arriving will have to isolate for 10 days along with their entire households.

Yes! It’s a great idea to come here now because the UK is offering Post study visas of two years to students where after school, you can stay here and work any job for two years.

This means after uni you can apply for a professional job without needing sponsorship which is a great thing, as more employers will want you.

However the wahala starts after two years. If the employer decides they can’t sponsor you, you’ll need to leave the country. But as a sharp guy, I expect that within those 2 years of working, you’d be saving for Canada. Then like that, you’ll emigrate to Canada if you don’t get a sponsor here.

So yes come here. Getting admission and visa to study in Canada is like pushing a camel through a car window cry. Also, no fear ielts, it’s very easy to pass if you start now to speak proper English, rather than Nigerian English. E.g. I can’t write ielts now because my English haff spoil.

Good evening House,

I'm considering getting on the property ladder with a 2 bedrooms house not more than £90k. I have a Mortgage in principle in place and the bank can only offer me the said amount of GBP 90,000. I'm considering picking between Sheffield or Bradford .
But I'm not sure if there is any job prospect in this 2 cities . Currently I live in London planning towards moving out to get my own property but I'm just a bit skeptical of the possibilities of getting a job in this 2 cities . Please I will gladly welcome any suggestions as regards affordable mortgage that's not more than £90k in England with job prospect.

Thank you
