Hello, guys I don't know if you all know what's happening in Minna, Niger state currently.

What started as a common directive by the Governor to demolish side shops and kiosk has turned to arrests of innocent bystanders including our gateman.

They (the demolisher's) came in last week to demolish the shops by the road side (despite the completion if road and culvert for more than 6years).

But were chased out by area boys and they returned today with lots of police men who started shooting teargas sporadically.

The area boys resisted the second time, but were overwhelmed by the number of police forces (they came with more than 70 police men as if going to war, all harmed with guns and even dangerous weapons).

Right now, they are surveying the whole area and anybody seen outside, if doesn't matter if you're innocent or not. They pick you up and deal with you.

Our gateman was one of the unfortunates. He was standing outside the gate.

Despite my stern warnings to him to come inside, he insisted on watching the scenes which player out before him.

He was spotted, and they tried to force their way in after he locked the gate.

They climbed the gate after noticing the gate was locked. And broke into his room, were he was beating right in front of me ( I was scared as I watched the scenes from my window which played out in front of me). Right now, they are still making arrests.

I will be posting pictures of the damages done by the bulldozers which they brought in.

I'm supposed to resume school tomorrow (FUTMINNA) and I kept wondering if this country may continue like this.

No jobs, youths created jobs for themselves and yet their jobs being destroyed by the same government which plundered the country into recession.

My Tailor's shop was affected by the excercise going on.

I will keep you guys updated once it's safe to come out. Also, I've phoned my mom and dad, who were presently at their places of work about the incident.

I will post pictures if eventually, our gateman gets released on bail.

Update: so, apparently after the police force shortly left our area, some enraged area boys went to the newly completed house of the deputy governor, and threw stones at the house, in the process, destroying some glasses of the Windows.

After that, the force men came back with full force and are now going homes to pick up youths. I was fortunate to be back before the exercise started.

They came into our house and was barging our door for me to open the door (apparently, they came still came in through the fenced gate.

I declined, and they left shortly after.

For now, here are some pictures I've taken from the scenes of the shops demolished ( I took the pictures before they came back).

I will continue to update the thread and let you guys know how many arrests have been made so far. Also, this incident happened at Brighter School Area of Minna, Niger state.

They won't create job for you, when you try creating one for yourself, they destroy it with stupid policies.. Until boys start beating the police people like it was during the end SARS protest ,they won't have sense

Update: 1 dead, and over 50 people have been arrested so far (including a friend's 13 year old brother).

The area have now begun activities as usual, but some security operatives can be seen securing the house of the deputy governor.

I can't get the picture of the damaged house as it's been heavily guarded.

Right now, the police are yet to contact us on the whereabout of our gateman.

And we don't know where he was taken to.

My dad work in another state, and my mum is yet to return from work.

This kind of news won't make frontpage now cry

Anyways, sorry about your gateman. Stay in for the next few days before inquiring about his whereabouts at the nearest police station (go with cash)

I honestly can't blame those area boys for their actions. They're more than justified in expressing their anger.

Imagine, a 13 year old undecided

Update: our gateman just contacted my mum that he's been detained in their head quarter.

My mum has been there for more than 30mins, but she was denied when she wanted to see him.

Right now, I suspect his phone has been seized as calls no longer go through his number.
