No body is trying to make you fearful, the message here is to think beyond ehailing. I believe in 5 to 10 years from now, YOU don't want to continue positioning and waiting for requests.
In as much as you need to crawl before you walk, DON'T spend your whole life crawling.
So get on board but think beyond today.

grin Boss do not fear. Is a good business for short period. If you plan to drive on rentals, please don't CRAWL for 5years in this line of business before you WALK out .Exiting doesn't mean lazy. How can someone spent 5/6years as undergraduate, 2years as Postgraduate without anything to show for it. And decided to survive pending... spent another 5years driving different people's car just to survive and meet basic needs, decided to exit and be termed lazy. Is just crazy. This life no balance at all.

Bro good day
Has this fraudster paid you?

uote author=chillex8 post=96961004]Hello guys. Calvary greetings.
So yesterday, around 5:15am, I accepted a request on InDriver from Iwaya road, yaba to Dolphin estate, Ikoyi.
I was in surulere at the moment the request came in, and I asked the lady if she's ready to move because I will be driving almost 6km to pick her from Surulere.
InDriver's price was #2,000. Got to PU by 5:25am and waited additional 5mins before she came out from one hotel off iwaya road.
Immediately she got In, she said she will be making 2 stops. I declined to continue the trip unless we renegotiate fares. We agreed on #4,000 and journey started.

First we went to Idi-oro/mushin to use a cash point.
She returned back claiming the Teller machine swallowed her debit card. After waiting 20mins plus for the machine to vomit the card, we left without it.
Note: I don't believe the machine swallowed any card.
She made some calls while we continued to the second stop. Asking the receiver to transfer money to my account so she can use my card to withdraw. I refused, telling her I'm not with my debit card.
She asked me for cash so she can give someone at the second stop ( somewhere In onipan), I declined.
After wasting another 10 mins at the second stop we proceeded to her final destination.

On getting to dolphin estate, she made some calls for some guy to come pick her up.
We waited another 20mins or so before this guy showed up in an un-registered Toyota Camry.
She stepped out and joined his car while he came to me to make a transfer.
He typed my details and all checked out then he sent #4,000 or so I thought. Normally, when riders are making transfers I always insist to see your debit alert.
So I was waiting for his, next I saw a credit alert from my bank via mail.
Alas I was relieved and was about leaving when I checked very well only to see that I was credited #400.
In utter shock I called her immediately as they haven't gone that far. I was thinking it was an error, perhaps. So I sent my ac details to her hoping that she will send the balance of #3,600.
Till this very moment it I haven't recieved a dime extra.
I have called and called. She sent a text last night that she will complete the transaction this morning. I called multiple times at noon only for her to say she's sleeping and will call me when she wakes up.
My fellow comrades, i looked up her number on truecaller and "CUSTOMER DEBTOR" popped up.
I have finally concluded she's a hoodlum and should be treated as one.
Kindly treat as urgent.
Her number is xxxxxxxxxxx
I have the names of the account holder that transferred #400 if need be.

The only exit plan un my head is to japain, i never tought i could do uber business but when reality set in after i lost my job, the highest job offer i got was 70K i had to pay my rent of 400K and all then a friend told me abt ehailing and as a long time follower of nairaland i quickly join the uber thread to learn more..throughly it's a means of survival but like some people said everything in life is in stages, ehailing bail me out at my point of need and i still follow my dreams but when u r not thr yet what can man do? We just hv to start from somewhere even some people we r looking up to are also tired of thr current position and wants to move higher likewise we hv people who r also looking up to ehailing drivers which they which they could just get a car to drive for survival..this time last year am always locking mysef indoor just because i don't want people to start asking me if i am on leave or something grin..if any of us know any life changing opportunities please make una tell us instead of all this back and forth arguments abt exit plan

I drove for my 1st partner in 2017 (which didn't end well)
I drove for my 2nd partner in 2018
I bought my car from the proceeds I made while driving for my partners around September 2018.

I worked for myself 2018, 2019, 2020

And still working 2021. About to resign and upgrade my hustle

I have savings close to N2 million naira in my account currently with discipline and self denial of luxury and pleasure ( I have evidence and proof of bank balance)

Looking back at journey of doing ehailing for 4years. I will sincerely tell u that the energy, time and effort still doesn't worth it.

Ehailing doesn't have potential and capacity to give me the money I want.

Its a rat race, its time consuming and very stressful in correlation to money u make.

And there is limit to what u can make as a driver.

Most here e hailling has bail them out of poverty .. Most are making more money than they deliver .. 1 of my driver that was able to save 1.2m is saving up to buy tokunbo matrix ..

This driver has family and kids and he delivers on time .with no excuse.. This driver is so focus on his goals that am so impressed.....so my brother people are making money and smiling to bank .. If you want more out of life it is better to stop complaining and get to work . nothing is free and nobody will show the way to make more money, that u have to figure it out on ur own .....

I had success in my ehailing career compared to my friends who are also into the business before me. Sometimes they are envious of my financial status. I ve had some of them ask me how I managed to save. I remember few years back when man was jobless, even to eat 3 proper square meal nah struggle. Then I was ready to take up any survival job available to keep body and soul together. This is what drove me into ehailing. According to Maslow's hierarchy of needs food, shelter, clothing are the first level of a man's need. I have attained and surpass these level of needs and this is what ehailing is designed to make you have. Pay bills, eat 3 proper square meal, buy clothes etc. Life is more than that my brother, I know what i want and ready to rule my destiny and make things happen. For me to say Taxi work no be better job, I know what saw before supporting Angryigbodon on this. I think the reason for all these is because I am beginning to overgrow the hustle, let me just put it that way. And this chart explains more

What u said here so far will wake up the calling of some people on this thread. There is nothing as living your dreams and fulfilling your potentials

How dare you bite the finger that fed you! Show gratitude. If ehailing were to be human how do you think it will feel regarding your remark. I think a lot of us just needs to be grateful for the opportunity life has offered us to put bread on the table without begging.

In life you have to remain steadfast, disciplined and focused if you have to get anything out of it. Its never going to be easy and if anyone tells you otherwise then its all lies.

If you get a good paying job today would you say your primary education got you the job? But that primary education was part of the process that got you to where you are, though fundamental but vital likewise ehailing. Ehailing should be seen as a fundamental aspect as we journey through.

Take out of ehailing what ehailing is willing to offer. Ehailing is not a one shop for everything. But at the same time can be everything depending on how you look at it.

During one of my ride requests I met this young girl, quite bright and intelligent. We connected and when I dropped her at her place she offered me to come into her house: its a 2 or 3 story building; each floor is a bed room except for the ground floor which serves as the sitting room. She pays 1.2m p.a. Won't go into her life details because I asked her why pay this much when you can actually build your own? She said she's already doing that!

The reason for this story is because this girl suggested to me a brilliant business idea I could venture into considering where I worked which was something I never thought about. So understanding your terrain and the little opportunities it offers is key to your survival. Being successful in life is knowing how to pick up data from your surrounding and converting that data into meaningful information that you can then use.

I guess what I am trying to say is: ehailing is a fat cow, how you milk her determines what you'll get out of her. Don't complain embrace it.

the winners in this set up r the app companies.

E hailing is a stop gap. If you continue in it, it will drain you of any potentials left in you.

E hailing has the ability to suck you in and spit you out.
After a couple of years, you will look back n you haven't made much development as an individual.

I didn't work throughout last week, I only worked on Sunday, valentine's day. What was I doing?

Sitting down n critically thinking of my exit plan. No dstv, no videos, no watsap, no social media I shut myself in.

On the 5th day, two powerful ideas came barging thru. These ideas won't come if I was driving in the chaotic and high pressured Lagos metropolis...

Cos driving drains mental energy, and that is the case of every single person driving in Lagos for money, you won't have time to CRITICALLY THINK.

Rinse and repeat, rinse and repeat, 12 months already gone. February ends next week.

I will travel next week to start implementing the plans,, whether perfect or not

Anyone on rental, work for 5 days, but the remaining two days, Shut YOURSELF IN, :
no booze, drug, women, weed or wine. Think, think, an idea will drop on you that will liberate you from this rat race.

This is POWERFUL.

I wonder, what is the essence of making money without enjoying it,because in the END,we are still leaving everything BEHIND.

Life comes in stages... Angryiboman is just saying rubbish if he cant apply what he is preaching about to his own life.....

What a lot in Nigeria and Nigerians youths in general is laziness .. You guys want the easy way . it takes discipline to achieve anything in life regardless of your choose profession.. Unfortunately Nigerians don't have that .......

That been said . ehalling can be a stepping stone to acquire those riches you talk about.. U have to start someone and take steps.. An uber driver can go from being a driver to car owner ..

Some drivers were able to transition from driver to car owners .. Some have two cars and still drive for other people.. Now if you can't succeed in these business as driver and transition to car owner and you have goals to make it big or drive big cars etc .. You are just dreaming and wasting time .. Pray to God all day u want , nothing will happen u have to put in the work and with a little bit of luck and prayer u achieve your goal ......

I will use my new driver as an example .. This driver as set aside 1.2m naira to buy a car . he wants to buy a matrix .. That money saved up is from driving uber and other things..

This is a family man with kids , now tell does he have two heads no be the same job that you guys are doing ? The guy delivers 25k rental vs 30k rental that people are collecting .. So he is making use of the opportunities that I have given , same chances I have given others and they have misuse it .... By the end of this year that driver will be able to buy his own car .. And chances are he is going to ask me to help him buy it .. And I won't charge anything for it .... This driver is one of the hardest working driver I ever meet .. Never complains and he delivers on time ... This guy will go places with his work ethic .........

So guys that are dreaming big etc .. U better have a plan and have good work ethic .. Failure to do so u are wasting your time and deceiving urself......

Ps.. I know I will get a lot of backlash like it is easy to give motivational speeches when it favors u etc ... That is the excuse u people give...in life u have to create your own opportunities , which can lead to u giving motivational speeches ... Everyman for himself nobody will hold ur hands on the path to success.....

Boss you have spoken the truth, though not all is agreed on, like the Angryigboman part of not applying this to his life method. You never can tell bcuz he doesn't come here to show off.

But on the other hand dreaming and reality are two different medium.

Success by mouth is different from the physical wealth, and here wealth is different from riches you can be rich health wise or financially but doesn't mean all round.

The main point here is to always Dream It-Pray For It-Work the Work. Nothing will drop on your lap like manna.

I want you to all analyse this; 2 Farmers are praying for rainfall, to start their planting season. One was praying and at the same time tilling the land in preparation, while the other was just praying and fasting and sleeping.

Which 1 do you think God will answer first.

In all pls pray and work the work.

I hustle now not to Hustle later. Like me carrying my knapsack up and down lagos in fact holding danfo for back to move within lagos
Last last everybody go dey alright.

Make this people approve my papers then am off this rock.

She said she has been chatting with him But the nigga said he too cant do transfer that I should wait for him to come all the way from Iba.

My head almost tear but I just kept my cool.
Madam look for my money for me I've to pick up another rider. After enuf back and front of almost 35mins I just had to come up with something instead of allowing this girl spoil my day.

It was my 1st ride for the day( I usually rest every Tuesday then come out in the evenings to work now).

I wanted to seize her phone but I thought it will be unfair.

I asked of her IG name and WhatsApp number which she gave to me without hesitating then begged her to send my money. She promised heaven on earth to send it once its 12midnight.

Me: send my money ooh else you won't like what will happen.

I left.

I've called this girl more than 20x today she only picked my calls once and said she was on her way home, this was around 11am. She has stopped reading my messages on WhatsApp and dont taking my calls again.
