Last week Tuesday I did my birth certificate/attestation at NPC, collected the certificate on Wednesday. Went to Bayelsa on Thursday for my passport application and capture. Got a call yesterday to come collect my passport, and finally collected my passport today being Wednesday. So, the whole process took a week..

The bitter part of it is that I paid for things to go this way. I paid 45k for it...

My initial plan was to do the DIY procedure and wait for my passport, but I wasn’t sure if Port Harcourt has booklet, so I reached out to one of my uncle that has been the one disturbing me to do passport and leave the country. He knows some people at the immigration so he made the calls and then got back to me..
He said there’s no booklet in PH and Benin, that I should go to Bayelsa he would connect me with a man there to run everything for me. He said it would cost 45k, immediately my mind just remember the DIY process o.. Then he said I should not worry that he would pay everything. Na once my mind drink Fanta...

I enter road the next morning straight to Bayelsa.. After filling the form and providing the necessary documents and passport, the man asked “na transfer you go do abi na cash?” Chai!!!! I no fit talk for some seconds..

With sadness I said transfer and made the transfer...

My uncle called me later and was like “No worry, I go refund the money to you”... The thing pain me ehnnnn..


But I’m glad I have the passport now sha.. at least that one done comot. Unto the next one..

Yesterday, I went to Alausa passport office for collection...but was told it isn't ready yet.
Did my interview on Monday 25th January.....was captured on 4th February.
My collection date is 9th January.

Should I give them more time or send a tweet or email to their head quarters?.......cos those guys are not sincere at all.....a lot of people got their passport yesterday.... although I don't know how long they've been waiting for it

Did you ask when you should come back? If not go back drop your slip in the collection room, if possible meet that woman sitting beside that long shelf where they use to pack the passport from, she might ask of your name and help you check. Also most times reason why they might tell you your passport is not available is maybe if your name comes before your surname (order of arrangement) they will just tell you that it's not ready because they normally arrange the passport in batches by name order (surname first)

Most of those picking up their passport at Alausa Office applied for 64pages 5Years passport. I took my time to observe that when i went there with my wife for her capturing. If you applied for 32pages passport, you might need to wait for a little while.

Please help,my friend did her NIN registration Last 2 weeks and on getting to the passport office yesterday for verification and data capturing she was told her NIN number did not drop,and it's urgent.
Please anyone with useful information should please help as this issue is weighing her down.

It took exactly one month for my wife’s NIN to drop on NIS portal after she did change of name on her NIN. If possible I’ll suggest your friend wait for additional two weeks but if she want to runs the dropping, it will most likely cost her #10,000 (from what I heard from those runs guys in Alausa) which I don’t recommend.

For those who care to listen, DIY is easy, smooth and stress free if you go to NIS in Lagos with all the right documents. From my experience, DIY application shouldn’t take more 15days in Alausa. I did mine in Alausa within 14days (32 pages) last year December and my wife is currently processing hers (64pages 5years) which she is expected to pick up next week Thursday.

NB: The collection date my be extended if there’s shortage/ non-availability of booklet.

Also, I must say that Mrs Chioma in Alausa passport office is a wonderful woman.

Currently, there are no 32Pages booklet.

There's DIY process and express route. For DIY you pay the normal fee for passport and it's affordable. You do the processing yourself. Kindly check NIS website for that. But Express
route is 40k and you'll go through an officer to fast track the process for you.

But whichever route you wanna take depends on you, how urgent you need it, and also your financial capability.


Yes you can get passport that's valid for 5 years. However, I'd urge you to do the passport in either Lagos or Abuja. This is because most people have been complaining about delay in most states lately.

DIY is the normal process irrespective of the state you want to do it. But I don't know anything about the duration of processing in PH now because people are complaining of some states. Kindly check NIS website and start the process and pay.

I guess you're right.....but it's the same material that they'll use for all passports....so, I wonder why they don't treat applicants that apply for 32 pages seriously..... ain't fair at all.

You don't understand, the country is I don't want to use a bad word. The booklets and visas are being produced in Malaysia. NIS doesnt, they only add the numbers on the pages and people's details.

So NIS can't tamper with the number of pages. One time, like two years ago FG was owing the supplier. There were no visas in the whole of embassies in the EU. Visa applicants do suffer this too.

Because of greed, they refused to be producing the booklets and visas in the country.

Pay what is required.

Do 10 years passport so you don't have to bother again with it.

Before it expires, A proper country go don give you PR or even their own passport sef.

If you think getting a Nigerian passport is hard now, like everything in Nigeria it will prolly worsen over time.

Government fit come up with policy to keep people in or another passport arrangement that will just mess things up.

How I wish I did DIY but I was discourage by my family that it's not possible to do that, but that's by the way. I went to Ibadan (all the way from Lagos) to renew my passport on the 18th of November, 2020 thinking I will get the passport on time but till today I have not gotten the passport �. I had to visit nairaland this morning to see what people are saying about it because the immigration officer I communicate with keeps telling me that there is no booklet but they have start working on it. I was surprised to see that the price of passport is 17,800 but I paid 28,000. So I had to call him this morning to ask of the price for Express and he told me 73,000 that was when I became furious.
