Though they are like 20 police and army checkpoints on the road, but there is still so much insecurity on the road.

My suggestion is a 24hrs patrol by the police on the road.
That's not the solution to the problem. Routine transfer of the security agency is the solution

Both the leaders and the followers.

Here in Nigeria, we just come, vote, and then sit at home and expect to be fed.

It's not for nothing they call democracy participatory.

Pray tell... What did the last massive and widespread "participation" (Protests) achieve??! Have the security agencies become better??! Have all leaders become more accountable??!

This government lacks tactic and solution to tackle insecurity in the nation.

Participatory democracy means not giving up.

The blacks in the US got a lot of improvements in their lot from perseverance.

Besides, who told you protests were the only way.

Please, no excuses. The thing on this site is , people tend to give excuses for why things are not better in Nigeria...till their side gets into power, then all is well and nice.

We have the tools. Fear of suffering, love of being arm chair critics, and lack of patience prevents us from using them.

Buhari and Osinbajo are truly revamping the economy.

Because we don't fund the police adequately to fight crime...because we believe that what we are earning from oil is enough for our needs, and all we need to do is to stop the looiting, and the money would be enough.

Which is partly true, and I am not denying looting happens in our country. I am also not a fan of this government or past governments.

However...

Countries with better police forces than us, also have better tax to gdp ratios than us. And they have diversifed economies.

Here in Nigeria, we have a

1.Low tax to gdp ratio...and attempts to increase it are met with protests of 'We are poor'

2.Low industrialization, because we don't want to pay the money needed to improve electricity power, and we don't want to pay the taxes needed to improve road infrastructure, and because all our business ideas are all about importing and selling imports...and because subsides on power and petrol means that refineries are bad, and power supply is bad simply because both cannot earn the funds to fix either.

3.A complete lack of understanding of how a participatory democracy works. We just vote, and then go home. No ideas on how to keep the pressure up on our leaders to lead us well. Just voite, go home, and colelct salary.

So, not enough revenue, before looting, a bad police force, and a nice environment for criminals and bandits to flourish...and increased tensions, and increased crisis.

But no, Nigerians only complain about bad leaders when their side is not inpower...then when their side is in power...silence.

You do realize you haven't actually said anything specific with regards to the actual roles of the average Nigerian in nation building??!... Talk is cheap sir.

What exactly are American citizens doing far better than the average Nigerian citizens??! Please, mention or enumerate them with specifics.

It is always easy to put down citizens of Nigeria as not doing enough in the face of poor leadership, as if after elections they have the majority of influence on those elected under the constitution. Yet, Nigerians are more vociferous, critical, demonstrative, and pushy compared to citizens of other nations.

Street protests are a very powerful for bringing about social and political change. It has proved itself over and over again in several societies. Find below a picture of a protest in South Korea calling for d resignation of d president because her friend used her relationship with d president to enrich herself. D protests took about 3months.

Endsars protests was an amazing idea. D question u should be asking is why didn't it yield as much success as expected? Pls look at d crowd in d South Korean pix? Did we have that type of crowd anywhere in Nigeria during d protests?

For any protest to succeed, it must be sustained no matter what until success is achieved. How many weeks was endsars protests? Also, in how many states did we have serious protests? In many states, there was nothing even though d protests would have been beneficial to all. In d end, we lack a protest culture, we are too relaxed in d face of bad governance and not because endsars was a bad idea
