IDENNAA:Like I said earlier almost all anambra communities now speak similar dialect but calling it Onitsha dialect to elevate Onitsha above others will cause serious commotion. That is the Anambra State. Infact the Original Onitsha dialect not what the whole of Anambra state speak now call God Oseburuwa. What they speak in Anambra state now can be called anambra dialect if you still want peace to reign. 1 Like |

Ebitimi44: I doubt you are Ijaw! If you are you would know that our fathers like Harold Dappa Biriye ( from Bonny in Rivers state) and Melford Okilo ( from Ogbia in Bayelsa state) were at the forefront in the battle to end Igbo political and economic domination in the now defunct eastern region. They tried through political means but it did not work. That was what motivated Boro to declare independence when an Igbo was head of state and another Igbo was governor of the now defunct eastern region. The Igbo negotiated with Ijaw oil assets. They had a deal with France on that. It is no coincidence all of their major backers had strong French ties. Ivory coast, Gabon, Haiti etc. The primary reason Ojukwu declared Biafra was because he lost control of Ijaw oil assets. He believed he could regain those assets for the Igbo through a war. 1 Like |

IDENNAA: There's a post where someone said what is spoken across various Anambra communities are similar yet distinct. This is the truth. The "general" Igbo spoken across is not Onicha dialect, though it may be close. No matter how much one speaks this "general" Igbo, one with a keen ear can still pinpoint where you're from. Again, any move to supposedly impose one particular dialect, no matter how sweet it is on the tongue will be resisted. The indigenous dialects across the state, from Onicha to Awka to Nnewi and interior areas remain sacrosanct to the people, traditionally and otherwise. 1 Like |

BKayy: There is no way any Anioma clan will be discussing about being absorbed by binis, pls this is a stupid talk, delete it. Ijaws are sparsely populated in nigeria. Even Bayelsa which represent the largest ijaw block numbers 1.6 million and Hundreds of thousands of them are Isoko and urhobo communities. So if ijaw is less than 2 million in nigeria, how can they absorb Rivers state igbos who are more than 4 million? Ikwerre owns Porthacourt city, This isn't being argued anywhere 3 Likes |

Ebitimi44: Ijaw nation is large enough to be on her own. Should Nigeria divide that remains the most preferred option for us. There would be nothing "crazy" about the map. Ijawland covers much of the coast from Arogbo in Ondo to Andoni in Akwa Ibom and Rivers. 1 Like |

iSlayer:You've said it all. Infact what is spoken in Enu Onitsha is not actually Onitsha dialect. It a dialect formed out of cohabitation of various Igbo groups over the years. It is very different from the original Onitsha dialect and the indigenes will tell you so. It is even modernizing every year. Like recently they included de je, something that is peculiar to Nsukka dialect. In summary anybody that can understand the new dialect they speak in Igbo cities like Onitsha or the entire Anambra State because there is a way we are interwoven unlike others can understand any kind of dialect in Igboland. The best is to leave it like that. Don't tag a name to it so as not to bring resistance and allow nature take over 1 Like |

Logan23: Ikwerre don't own Port Harcourt. They don't feature anywhere in the history of Port Harcourt. Their claim to Port Harcourt was made possible by Ijaw people. The treaty on Port Harcourt with Britain was between Ijaw people and Britain. Ijaw people also recieved more compensation than the Ikwerre. The largest Ijaw clan is in Rivers. The thing with you Igbo fools is that you talk down Ijaw population thinking it will benefit you, when it matters it is the North or Yoruba your greed, shortsighted attitude and foolishness will benefit. Close to half of the LGAs in Rivers state are Ijaw. 3 Likes |

iSlayer: It will, but people who use them will be considered not so polished. Like English people who don't speak Queen's English are considered in England or Germans not being able to use Hochdeutsch are considered in Germany. Ability to write and communicate in Igbo Izugbe will be seen as symbol of social class. 1 Like |
