Why did Ojukwu install the Igbo Speaking Major Okonkwo as Governor of the Midwest?

Banjo saw Ojukwu was busy doing an Afonja on him.
Okonkwo is from the Midwest too. Was it wrong to appoint a Midwest as a president of Midwest Republic?

By the way the Nzegwu (not Nzeogwu) tribunal found Banjo not guilty

So Ojukwu quickly constituted anothe Kangaroo Court trial instead of setting Banjo free

Ps Nzegwu was an Airforce Officer

This niger delta you talk about, do you know that the Igbo are the largest tribe in terms of population in niger delta followed by ijaw? 9 local governments in delta is Igbo, 65% of rivers state is Igbo. There are Igbo in bayelsa and others niger delta States, benue and kogi state. I suppose you are not looking at 5 states as Igbo land?

We are on the same page. Igbo land also forms part of the Niger Delta but I was referring to the non-Igbo tribes in the old Eastern region

You daft mo.ron can you provide your FACTS on where Jaja was born then if he wasn't Igbo? No need for pointless arguments that will lead to cul-de-sacs. I provided verifiable sources on Jaja's birthplace, please we are waiting for yours.

Cc: Pazienza, OfoIgbo make una come follow me see this shameless revisionist grin grin cheesy

Phijo abeg where was Jaja born in Ijaw land?
You're the daft one. He has never indicated that Jaja was born as an Ijaw man. What he wants you to know is that, all Jaja's exploits and expeditions were executed as an Ijaw Man. Unproven history has it that Jaja was a slave boy bought by an Ijaw Chief and was later ritualized into an Ijaw being. And his exploites were known thereof.

Ijawcitizen

80% of rivers state landmass is IGBO.
They know this. That's what the guy who brought this topic is trying to let therm understand that minus igbos in Niger Delta republic the Akwa/cross will have no option than to form their own country, and may ally with the Igbo economically.

Is any part of Igboland on the Sea Coast?

Just asking
What is this obsession with sea for God's same? Rwanda has no sea and oil but they are 100times better than Nigeria with 6 sea ports and large deposits of oil and gas.

I doubt you are Ijaw! If you are you would know that our fathers like Harold Dappa Biriye ( from Bonny in Rivers state) and Melford Okilo ( from Ogbia in Bayelsa state) were at the forefront in the battle to end Igbo political and economic domination in the now defunct eastern region. They tried through political means but it did not work. That was what motivated Boro to declare independence when an Igbo was head of state and another Igbo was governor of the now defunct eastern region.

Indomie generation grin

Boro was deceived by the north to destroy the Eastern region like they had done to the Western region. I was thinking you would at least mention how the Niger Delta was marginalised. The Niger Delta sold out to the north and is today faring worse than it was under the Eastern region with militancy, poverty, lack of development and pollution of your land and waters. Some of your big men were settled but you are mostly poor and oppressed.

Trans Amadi industrial layout who build am for una? Who kept Obudu Cattle Ranch alive? Who took away your resource control? grin grin

You are the one than needs read well, Arochukwu war lasted less than a year.

And Benin Continued the war for 2 yrs.

Make a better research before commenting next time
Continued what? When the oba was on exile in Calabar and all the important chiefs hanged at the village square and all the palace destroyed, the city walls fell and citizens came down to bow. Despite all the human sacrifices made? At some point in the short war, kids and women were the ones fighting. Maybe you should read more.
Arochukwu was not the only people fighting... Aros are not only in Arochukwu, if you know too well....they are all over... The fight included Ekumeku and other fights until what ended in 1929.

What is this mongoose twerp even talking about? did you even read the preposterous assertions of your daft Ijaw brother before making a fool of yourself? the tangent of his argument if you failed to read them was that Jaja was never born in Igboland and neither to Igbo parents, the fool didn't even know that all the documented archives of Jaja's( not his real name) from his birth, slavery and consequent rise to prominence in the Niger Delta are available for any layman with a jaundiced sense of history to read. Ijaws can lay claim to Jaja on the premise of his influence in the significant prints of their history, but one thing you can NEVER take away from him was the fact that he WAS AN IGBO MAN birthed by Igbo parents with his ancestral roots tied to his birthplace in present day Imo state.

The British invading force crushed and plundered Benin forces and artifacts in just a matter of days, Ovonramwen Nogbaisi fled into exile in Calabar after the fall of Benin so where did he amass the fighting power to prosecute a guerilla war for 2 years? the Aros fought for British for way longer but the only recorded part of the conflict was from 1901-02 when slave trade was been threatened and the long juju of Aro (Ubini Ukpabi) which was reputed to be the most feared epicenter of slave routes/trades was finally discovered by the British did they then send a large expeditionary force to destroy it. After the fall of the Aro confederacy, there were still organized and fierce resistance that continued until about 1908...

Also note that the bulk of the leaders and men that formed the Ekumeku secret society that resisted the British from 1883-1914 came from Aro (Arondizuogu) in the western Igbo axis.

You type without reasoning, I said make a research and you're here repeating what has already been said before

That he was arrested after 1 or 2 years doesn't take away the fact that the bini kingdom didnt fall after a few days...infact the british burnt the kingdom to the ground and looted the city.

If bini people numbered 40 million, No force on earth will take them down in a few days

If we numbered that yes I agree, but Benin did not fall in a few days like the British said, I already gave you a reference to research on. You should leave Benin issues and concentrate on Ibo affairs. You said earlier I should stop saying ND that I am indirectly claiming part of Ibo land and I agreed, so I except same from you

You're obviously the daft one here, the Aros were the bulwark that formed the Ekumeku resistance after the fall of the Aro confederacy, lots of Aros joined the Ekumeku resistance west of the Niger to continue the resistance against the might of the British empire, essentially making the Ekumeku war the longest of its kind that was fought against the British... what's there not to understand?

You have spoken/written well. Do not mind the distractions you are getting from chronic, psychological and pathological minorities who defy reason
We Igbos are used to such behaviours. The actions of Wike in Obigbo comes to mind.

Just like you, to me I didn't see the reason for questioning Bayelsa development rate, but that's by the way.

It is because of such chronic minorities that I am of the opinion that Igbos should keep hold of any of the Igbo territories that are by the ocean.

Ndoki-Igbo people have some prime real estate in this regard, which includes Obuaku in Abia and Ubani (Bonny island) in Rivers state. To avoid these chronic minority mentality and their wahala, it will make sense for Igbos to keep hold of these, and ensure they are not dependent on any minorities for their sea access.
Opobo will depend on whether the Jaja family wishes to join Biafra or another country
PH will depend on whether Ikwerres will prefer Biafra or another country

Ok let's do this one more time cause this is getting tiring. The Aro confederacy which fell in 1902 didn't signal the final defeat of the Aro confederacy and its allies even after the long Juju of Arochukwu had been blown up by the British forces. The Aro war chiefs simply refused to sign a treaty of surrender to the British and for that reason many of them were hanged. So the resistance stubbornly continued till about 1908 before the resistance was officially crushed, by then lots of the Aros were fighting with their Igbo neighbors on the Western bank of the Niger in the Ekumeku war against the British which lasted for 31 years! so don't dare compare your useless Benin war that was crushed in just a matter of days to the might of the Aros who proved beyond all mettle to be seasoned warriors. We resisted the British for 31 years (if you can't the Ekumeku war), while your tiny empire got thrashed up in just a matter of days.
