This OP is definitely not from the ND. He's Igbo trying to pacify the ND to see why they should join Biafra. Most ND people I've spoken to don't want in on Biafra. I support the agitation for a sovereign Biafran state, but the Igbos should please let the core south stay alone if they want it. The can be an autonomous region just the way Taiwan is to China.


From history, the ND people were forced into Biafra. They never really wanted to be part of Biafra. They wanted their own autonomous region. If the ND get merged with Igbos in Biafra, it'll just be another nigeria for them where they have no control of their resources and lands.

The Igbos would try to lord it over them while shaming them to compete if they're not afraid and stuff. They would also damage their reputation as igbos would do anything to survive. Wonder why South Africa, Ghana, some Asian countries can distinguish Igbos and don't want them in their space is cause of the atrocities they commit.

As YORUBAs are starting their agitation, I honestly don't care if states like Kwara or Kogi choose not to associate with us, even Edo. As long as we have our 6 states in the West intact. The federal government rejected the plebiscite proposal, obviously because it implied the recognition of Biafra and the substitution of a democratic vote for force of arms. Had the plebiscite been held, a ceasefire would have had to be declared, neutral observers would have been on scene, and the secession would have been revealed as a people's movement". The New York Review of Books, Volume 14, Number 8. April 23,1970.

At no point were the minorities held in Biafra against their own wish. Ojukwu was always open to a UN supervised plebiscite in minority areas of Biafra, to prove to the world that the minorities were not being held against their own will. Gowon and Yoruba media propaganda knowing that the outcome of such plebiscite wouldn't favor Nigeria, rejected the offer.

Biafra was a joint venture of all Eastern groups. Everyone was involved. Kogbara,an Ogoni man was Biafra foreign affair minister in UK, Opigo from Yenegoa was an Ijaw chief who suggested the name Biafra during Eastern region consultative assembly meetings, Opigo was also the Administrator of Yenegoa province of Biafra. We have the likes of Mbu, prof Bassey, etc, all playing prominent roles. Okonkon Ndem who MNK is mimicking today with his Radio Biafra, was from Akwa cross too and played vital role. Rex Lawson an Ijaw man helped too.

It is true that Failure is an Orphan, so immediately Biafra started losing, many minorities jumped ship and left Ndiigbo to deal with the aftermath of Biafra, they also went about doctoring the history of their involvement in Biafra effort to present themselves as a people held hostage by Ndiigbo during Biafra and not as willing partners in the Biafra struggle in other to warm their way to the hearts of the Yoruba/Arewa led new Nigeria. This to me is a betrayal that no Igbo should ever forget.

The above is also why I insist that Biafra must not have non Igbo clans in it ever again. In fact I hate any Igbo that suggest having minorities in future Biafra. It depicts lack of knowledge of our history and disregard of the injury multiethnic Biafra inflicted on Ndiigbo and is capable of inflicting in the future. A nation is only as strong as the loyalty and unalloyed patroitisn of its constituent groups, the minorities are a liability as far as building a strong impregnable Biafra is concerned. Those including them in Biafra don't mean well for Ndiigbo.
