QuotaSystem: What hateful derogatory rhetoric? How do you even want the Yorubas to react when communities upon communities are being attacked by Fulani bandits in Ondo, Oyo, Ogun, Kwara and Ekiti? The people of the north-west suffering from the continuous attack of bandits may not look at it from the prism of ethnic attacks and a bid to take over their land from them since there the Fulanis are indigenous to that land but the Yorubas don't have such a relationship with the Fulanis. Everyone knows that without the Fulani issues, the southwest would never have risen to hate or push negative rhetoric against the north but instead of smart people like you to dose the tension, you keep on escalating the whole thing by calling us names and playing politics with it. Everyone knows that the Buhari gov't have been sympathetic to the Fulani criminals and terrorist against the interest of other Nigerians. He has used the instrument of States to protect them while playing dead to the yearning of other Nigerians. People wouldn't just take it and assume that everything is okay, just because the interest of an Osinbanjo or Tinubu is on the line. I will rather have peace, be able to farm and travelled around and have an Igbo president than the prospect of being kidnapped in my homeland and on the road with a Yoruba president. 6 Likes 1 Share |

Asgard13: The Daily Trust Newspaper which published this article is the foremost Northern Media powerhouse. Where did Tinubu or Yorubas come in? The presidential election involve some many factors and I don't know how you think it is solely about citizen Tinubu. |

myobjective: With peace, understanding & mutual respect everybody wins. But it is not in the interest of the politicians, especially the opposition, for peace to prevail. Therein lies the dilemma. Hence they stoke tensions, people are rubbed the wrong way, emotions run high and they react - sometimes excessively. To be honest, everyone is guilty for escalating the crisis because the amount of gloating and insensitivity when innocent northern traders were killed in Ibadan was highly inciting and blood curdling. I personally abstained from commenting on the herdsmen crisis for months because there was clearly a political angle to the issue, but the general reaction of the majority of southerners (particularly SW) to the Shasha incident put one on the defensive. It was an unfortunate incident and it is best we all bury the hatchet, put it behind us & forge ahead; shaming the wicked politicians in an altruistic effort to collectively create a brigher future for us all. Cheers. |
Re: 2023: Top Northern Politicians Pushing For Southern President by FriendNG: 4:39pm On Feb 21, 2021 |
QuotaSystem: Not only that. The southwest governor(s) encouraged the attack in Shasha market. Rather than ending the crisis, they use Amotekun to shoot at innocent traders. That on itself is a state sponsored terrorism. Hence Amotekun has portrayed itself (in this case) as an ethnic militia and not a community police. 1 Like 1 Share |

QuotaSystem: You are spot one. The event in Ibadan is unfortunate, many innocent northerners fell victims to what has nothing to do with them. They were just the common men looking for what to eat and the gov't of the state should have acted on time to bring everything under control. I also agree with you that the press has not really been of help with the amount of fake news they have been churning out. What we really want is a Nigeria that works for everyone. We all can take the blame for what Nigeria has become and at the same time work in making it a better country for all. I believe that our diversity in geography should be an advantage for us all. We should be working and fighting for a better country that will be able to protect the interest of the most vulnerable member of our society. Chears. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Re: 2023: Top Northern Politicians Pushing For Southern President by myobjective: 4:47pm On Feb 21, 2021 |
FriendNG: If you say that the Oyo state government didn't manage the violence well, then you have a point but to say he collided with Amotekun to kill northerners in an insignificant market, then that is being mischievous. He should have acted on time to bring normalcy to the market but he never sided with anyone in his handling of the unfortunate incident. 2 Likes |

Re: 2023: Top Northern Politicians Pushing For Southern President by myobjective: 4:58pm On Feb 21, 2021 |
FriendNG: No bullet was fired. Most of the destruction was done by hoodlums outside the market. What I expect the governor to do was to deploy enough security men to the Hausa quarter in Shasha and be on the ground to stop the hoodlums from arson and harassing mostly northern traders. |

myobjective:Buhari is the one in charge of the army and not the Governor. Look at the way you are cowardly begging aboki because of imaginary presidency promised the SW in 2023.How many times have FriendNG apologized or try to give explanations for the thousands of southeners killed by fulani herdsmen? 1 Like |

FriendNG: Several mistakes were made, and to be honest, anyone including myself would never tolerate being killed or forcefully ejected from my territory without some form of resistance. However, you're right about Amotekun abandoning their duties and true targets to callously start attacking innocent traders; it definitely gave the attack an ethnic colouration and was quite inciting, further fueling the crisis. What anyone needs to do is take a panoramic view of the whole situation, one would discover that we're just being pawns on the chessboard of wicked, selfish politicians who are deliberately sponsoring & fueling the crisis for their political gain - either through chaos to frustrate the President or for their seccessionist/separatist agenda. The only way to collectively win therefore is to forgive one another, agree to stop peddling divisive, hateful & derogatory narratives and instead give peace a chance, support a credible 2023 candidate that would consolidate on present gains and lead us towards the Nigeria of our dreams. 3 Likes 2 Shares |

PaChukwudi44: I don't really care who becomes the next president but at least we should get someone on the ticket that can safeguard life and property, give the economy a boast and generally solve the problem of kidnapping and banditry. I know how much I have spent on flights on location I would rather drive to. Nigerians are not safe, the economy is in shambles and you think I really care more about the ethnicity of our next president that how competent he is? 4 Likes |

"The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the leading opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are yet to zone their presidential tickets to any part of the country, but scheming for it has commenced, thus the crisis rocking the two political parties." Outright nonsense! No presidential ticket is going be zoned to a person or ethnic group. And that means anyone interested in becoming the the president of Nigeria should fight for the chance in a political party primaries. I suspect people selling this false claims that a presidential ticket is going to be zoned to their tribe are ignorance of the 1999 constitution of Nigeria So, find a copy of 1999 constitution of Nigeria and read it to educate yourself. Finally, zoning a presidential ticket to any tribe or geopolitical zone will definitely invite military take over of Nigeria. What other choice? |

QuotaSystem: Recent events? When have the North spoken up against the Fulani herdsmen killings in the SW and all the havoc wreaked by the 16th century thinking Fulani marauders? Why do you Northerners always think like savages? Is it inherent in your culture to just be barbaric in your thinking? Even God knows that we Yorubas tried our best to be civil and even when time has consistently presented us period to stray the path, we still always try to give the North the benefit of the doubt. What more do you want bro? We should remain silent while the Fulanis kill our mothers in the farm because we want to keep the Northern alliance? A brother that can’t speak up against injustice meted against other people by his kinsmen doesn’t deserve the bond of brotherhood. Right from the days of your ancestors you guys have always being betrayals and you hiding under the current crisis as a decoy for backstabbing doesn’t change the fact. When the ungrateful Buhari was visiting Bourdillon and seeking his help to win the presidency, you never hated Yorubas then right? With reference to Sasha, when did the North even starts valuing human lives? Is the lives of the Hausa more valuable than those of the Yorubas killed by Fulani herdsmen? 3 Likes 2 Shares |

Arewa1stSon: I second this. The systems in the north including banking were dismantled under a South West President (OBJ) all the top civil servants who were brilliant were targeted using Orasanye leaving a huge knowledge gap that has affected the north since then. The current attacks and blanket blaming of the Fulani for every crisis in the SW because Tinubu wants presidency guarantees he will not get it by God’s grace. GEJ was dangerously inept but not malicious. I would support Amaechi for President with a Northern VP (Kwankwaso is a guaranteed win in Kano we are ready to bury Ganduje). I would be hard pressed to support a SE candidate until they show they can control their people, besides their governors seem as useless as the ones we have in many states. Otherwise bring young fresh people that are not ignorant. 2 Likes 1 Share |

The stupidity of the comments in this thread. The north brought in OBJ, same north voted in Yar Adua and GEJ the north voted GEJ over Buhari when GEJ started listening to bigoted fools the north voted him out. Don’t forget it’s Southerners that removed zoning in their shortsightedness under GEJ. Nobody will vote for SE president go and deal with your bigoted internal problems. You will not win elections without northern votes. Bring good candidates and we have always supported. 1 Like |

Speaktruth88: From 2003, the north had wanted Buhari to become the president of the federal public why the rest of the country including the middle belt has been giving them the middle fingers. The core north never made Obasonjo in 2003, Jonathan in 2011, and Yaradua (intact most northerners voted Buhari instead of Yaradua) 1 Like |
