After chasing the farmers from their farms and destroying everything, they want to blackmail us My take on this; let us boycott their meat, safeguard our farms, learn about ranching and set up decent ranches, let the governors and reps and senators empower our farmers with AK-47 for self protection instead of goats! We honestly don't need the Northerners in the South! 227 Likes 19 Shares |

There was a time, about 3-4years or so ago, when tomatoes were not only very expensive, but even so scarce;it was that year I knew tomatoes were also grown in the Southwest with their own breed. Though not as tasty as that from the North, but many people had to make do with that breed of Swestern tomatoes. When push comes to shove, there would always be an alternative because the entire South and the middle Belt are thick in the rainforest zones, and this is always the best kind of climate for food crops and even animals. It's just that the ready availability of these foodstuffs from the North has not made people in other zones to explore the vast potentials of their lands. 156 Likes 9 Shares |

Jokers. In my area, you don't buy, sell nor rear cattle. Selling or buying of beef in our market is prohibited. No cow is allowed in our area, so this their useless beef scarcity is not for us. Any cow in our bush is a bush meat and game for boys. 28 Likes 1 Share |

They can go to hell with their beef. Necessity is the mother of invention. There are other protein sources like Chicken and Fish which we have in abundance in the south. Southerners are also starting to rear cattle in ranches. If they go ahead with their dumb threat, then they are about to witness just how resourceful southerners can be. We will survive and even prosper without their beef and whatever else they're trying to use to blackmail us, and heaven will not fall. Rubbish. 129 Likes 11 Shares |

Put in another way; the North can now place the south on sanctions and embargoes whenever it feels so? And once the sanctions are on, we can starve to death since we are not allowed to import from other parts of the world even though we have the money to do so? Is this not worse than slavery? 8 Likes 1 Share |

darkwan:You are free not to sell your goods but where the government is helping oppression is by insisting that Nigerians can't import farm products from foreign countries! If you don't want to sell, your kettle of fish! But I should be free to make my purchases elsewhere. .. Northern Nigeria is not the one feeding the people of Egypt, Cameroon, south africa, China or mongolia. Those people get their excess food supplies from somewhere and they pay for it. Don't take yourself too serious! You are selling something you are being PAID for, more than the value. If you don't want to sell , fine! But government should open the borders so we can import better qualities at cheaper rates from serious business people elsewhere... You are not donating food to anyone.. Always remember that.. 58 Likes 9 Shares |

It's a 50-50 thing. We don't buy, they don't sell. We keep our money for alternatives, and they look for another alternative to get money. Ceteris paribus 27 Likes |

Officialgarri:threat made by illitrates. North should be grateful to the south for buying its produce as uptakers. Northern threats has help southerners to engage in both crop and animal production. In no distance time it will bethe other way round. The day south will stop food from north, north will cry. 25 Likes |

lol the citizenry should understand that we are at WAR already! you all would start seeing such false news / technical scarcity within this period In the game of war, it is called propaganda. a tool to put fear in your mind subliminally the idea is to always foster the southern imaginary dependence on Northern Nigeria for food. truth is, the north doesn't even have the capacity to provide adequate supply of food for the south. forget all those stories of herds of cows and expanse farm land, there is land for farming everywhere in the south. the southern Nigeria is yet to understand the gift of RAIN FOREST You can never use food as a weapon to threaten any geographical location that has rain forest by the way, how many time in a week do the guys down south actually eat vegetables from the North ? BTW this thread and news is about vegetables, onions and tomatoes... nevertheless, did you notice how the image of cows were added to it? you guess is right, the propaganda is just not only in you face. it is also a subliminal way of inoculating into your mind those behind the news, who they are, their agenda, and the constant reminder to the south that they control the government ARISE O Compatriot !!! 19 Likes 2 Shares |

Can they just make good this threat and see who will get tired? These people are always using reverse psychology on everyone. Were southerners not eating before Mr Lugard joined these country together? So far, the north has failed to absolve itself of the leeches they are. If they are really serious, let’s divide this country and see who will beg who! 17 Likes |
