I took delivery of these broilers on Friday 5th January 2021, I will be updating their performance here. I believe they will do better even with the price of feeds.
This is my first time of rearing broilers so am open to corrections and suggestions.

Try to work on the source of heat.. Broiler require extreme care from 0-14day..

Observations :
1. Space is too much
2. The second picture depict that there is effect of cold in the brooder, hence the clustering together of chicks ; this is as a result of low temperature, which means that the heat source is not enough
3. Using lantern as a heat source is a no no, you could use cold pot and charcoal, as smoke from lantern will cause crd to birds
4. Feeding trough is not suitable for D.O.C breeding, get something more flat than what you are using currently

The above in picture you posted is known as pasty butt and it occurs in poultry as a result of cold, increase your heat source and administer multivitamin that contains electrolyte to them.
As regards your questions for feeder type I suggested earlier, you can use the cover of buckets which are flat and can't get tipped over easily ; very but if you intend on getting the real deal, visit Afrimash online shop and request for day old chick feeding trough, you will see it pop up in red color and looks exactly like the normal tray pan
Modified: If you where unable to get the one I suggested, this one can serve as well if you could lay your hands on it

So today I made it a must to update you guys
The chicks are doing well @2weeks and already they seems to be congested in their space but the expansion will wait till Sunday when they will now occupy a whole room.
As for the scale, it seems am not getting it any longer for this set of chicks as the price isn't friendly @all

@chukskafor am really grateful for your input though I couldn't get the flat tray u suggested, I then removed the wood on their Feeder hoping it would serve same purpose.
As for the heat source, I couldn't imagine such simple trick of perforating a tin.... Those two lamps nah 3k ooo , am very sure charcoal of 1k5 would be enough for brooding this number of chicks.

No mortality and am grateful to God for that

Yes sir... No casualty
Actually I have only treated Cocci(though it was just in one poo) with regular multivitamin
As for Lasota, honestly I don't think I will be giving it to them

The 1st bag finished on saturday so they are currently on their second bag

Am sorry for this abstract topic.... I just need suggestion

Greetings once again. Please am having a thought of raising broilers for breeding purpose though it would be on a very small scale for test, but these are my challenges/questions
1. What are the challenges I might encounter along the line
2. Why does it look like an impossible mission to many?
3. Finally, what's your advice on this.
Note: Am not going for the parent stock but for the usual DOC we all know

So I finally got the scale because I would be glad to have some reference in the future... Honestly country hard die

The birds are doing very well and I pray it continues that way. They are 4weeks 4days old today with an average weight of 1.6kg
Highest weight= 1.8kg
Least weight=1.4kg
Hope am still on the right track folks?
