The first police officer to find Tiger Woods at the scene of his car accident has revealed that the golfer is 'lucky to be alive' as he was driving at high speed.

Investigators will also test if he had drugs or alcohol in his system before the crash.

Deputy Carlos Gonzalez found Tiger Woods conscious in the driver seat of his Genesis GV80 SUV around 7am on Tuesday morning.

A neighbor who heard the car crash immediately called 911, and on arriving at the scene Gonzalez realized that the golfer was too badly injured for him to move alone.

Woods was wearing a seatbelt before the crash.

'When I first arrived at the scene, Mr Woods was still in the driver's seat,' Gonzalez said.

'He spoke to me. He was very calm and lucid. I kept Mr Woods talking until LA fire department arrived on the scene.

'He said his name was Tiger, and this was when I immediately recognized him. He was lucid and calm.

'He was not exactly concerned about his injuries, which is normal in car accidents. They might in a state of shock, and pain not felt until later.'

He has always had issues with depression, he had a messed up childhood because his dad overworked him, then the sex and cheating scandals made him an alcoholic. He seemed to have made a comeback before now.
