In the advent of a Niger Delta republic, they just need resource control, then the idea of Biafra becomes less appealing. Biafra will be offering the same Nigerian setup where resources from one region will be used to develop the whole country. I doubt if any oil producing state will want that after Nigeria. All the talk about seaports and whatever I consider bullocks. The possibility of Biafra being landlocked is not a disadvantage. There are landlocked countries doing quite well. Whatever the case, however they break, all the countries will still have to work together one way or the other whether they like it or not.

The Ijaws may have the numbers but in the reality of a Niger Delta Republic, the power bloc will most likely be the Edos and say Deltans. I say this because the Edos are just a state and contribute about the least oil from the Niger Delta but are still such a force at national level, they know the game. They were a force way before oil, they know how to play politics thats not hinged on ‘my oil’. Something I can not say for the Ijaws and some other tribes from the SS.

The Ijaws are a large number but lack a united and formidable front. Give them resource control, they’ll walk away from the centre, they may even turn on themselves.

When you people talk about oil, I see it as people without vision and have nothing else to offer. Do you know that Imo and Abia by legal definition of the NigerDelta are a part of it. Do you know that Abia and Imo state are both oil producing states (Also with very large deposits... even Anambra now... However, if you notice, they never talk about it, all they fight and bicker about themselves is about who is performing best in WAEC and JAMB and who is opening more industries, companies and innovations... They bicker about who has more big businessmen and who are putting up infrastructures and building houses.
The sooner Africans start thinking this way, the better for their advancement.

That is also wrong!

No matter how "indigenous Igbo" is drawn it is not close to 40 percent.

Where do you place the Ijaw and Ogoni?

Ijaw and ogoni are sparsely populated in rivers state. That's why an ijaw man or ogoni man will never ever have the numbers to win gubernatorial elections in rivers state. Igbo in rivers covers about 60-70 percent of the state, try n visit ph to understand this first hand

Any talk about crude oil is pure stupidity...From 2014/2015 till now, that's 6 - 7 years, the price of crude oil has been very low in the intl market and that is because solar technology and electric vehicles are massively been produced, thus the market for crude oil will keep shrinking n shrinking until its price drops permanently to less than 15 dollars per barrel.

As for crude oil, Anambra, imo and Abia are already oil producing states AKA niger delta state....Crude oil was found in the Benue troph last year and Edda in Afikpo was where crude oil was found in nigeria for the first time (1927)......It's no brainer to know that there is crude oil on Enugu state.

So if crude oil is what ND have to add to biafra, then they are a heavy liability, cuz the north will finish up the crude oil in the niger delta and leave them with polluted land, polluted water and polluted air.......Is pollution what u have to offer biafra?

Alright then, all and any igbo speaking person in the world is Igbo & anyone bearing an igbo name. Is that common sense good enough for you?

Omuaro38:

Nothing defines the identity of a people more than their language, culture, and to a considerable extent their names. The Igbos didn't colonize these Igbo speaking subgroups in Rivers state, and I'm definitely sure those Igbo speaking tribes didn't just wake up one morning and magically started speaking variants of the Igbo language... just apply common sense from a prism of rational reasoning, and it makes things less complicated.

You don’t leave today to fly into the future. You build the future from today. Oil is still a thing as at 2021 and will be till the next 10-15years if not more.

If you are more broadminded and read more you will notice asides the Igbos, there’s other tribes making strides as well, in many endeavors.

If the Igbo states have these deposits why forcing others to join then? Its got to be by choice. You cant force a people into your agenda, you buy them into it, if it doesn’t work you leave them alone.

It is on record here in the 1800s that you were paying homage and going on pilgrimage to Aro people. Here is an account by Baikie.

"...The village, which is the first one in the Oru country, is named Agberi, and the chief, called Agbekiim, had been on board as we passed on our ascent. Since that time he had been on a pilgrimage to A'ro, to inquire why his wife had no children, and from this place he had but just returned....."

If you say its not enough then it can not be a big factor. You don’t decide on what basis they pick the side they want to be with.

A referendum will make it clearer.

gidgiddy:

Language may not be enough but it is a big factor. If there is a referendum, would you rather go with those you speak the same language with? Or stay with those you dont understand anything they are saying?

That question must be put to that 45% indigenous Igbo speaking people when Biafran referendum comes, lets see what they say.

When the struggle resurfaced, people just assumed that the old Biafra will be in place but right now, nobody ever forced you. In fact, I have always pushed for your exclusion and many other people share the same sentiments.

What potentials do the south east have that are entirely theirs and are a birthright that are not obtainable elsewhere? You think too highly of yourself.

With all your wisdom and potentials, asides Ebonyi, nothing exciting is happening in the south eastern states. Is it a yoruba or hausa or ijaw man that is your governor?

Abi all these potentials are not for you lot to better your own good?

There’s no abundance of oil in the SE. The two south eastern states are the least producing in Nigeria.

You cant talk about these things, secession and all and not mention oil. Oil is crucial my man.

Do not worry, Firstly, they are not the least, and secondly, there are an abundance of oil and natural gas deposits... However, I can assure you that we understand the environmental problems associated with oil exploration within Nigeria and land is sacred to us, we rather not have the FG explore to destroy our land. We know the efforts we are making to prevent it until the future time if necessary.

Secondly, no you can survive without oil, countries like Japan, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Rwanda do not have crude oil and they are doing quite fine.
We have other strengths, in our vision of Biafra, oil will be a plus. Check the list of the top 10 richest men in the world, none of them deals in oil... That should tell you all you need to know... Oil will be a cherrz on top.

Stop belittling ur self wit ridiculous questions.

Even if u can reason normally, u should av known that if the countries that buy ur crude oil daily start powering their houses, cars and industries with solar technology, Automatically the demand for ur crude oil will fall and the price as always will fall wit it.

If the Nigerian govt refuse to use the massive crude oil deposits in the SE, does that mean that the SE has little crude oil deposit? U dont even have sense, crude oil has been mined in the SS for well over 75 years now and u think SS will still have more crude oil deposit than areas that have been untouched?

There is massive gold deposits in 4 or 5 yoruba states and the govt isnt mining it, does that mean there is no massive gold deposit in yoruba land?

Since gold is being mined in the north and then very little gold is mined in yoruba land, Does that mean that yorubas have small amt of gold deposits?
