go and bargain ur own... the person was badly duped. It’s not even upto that. And he is in bayelsa.. different offices... different rates... some people even pay less than 2k.

How long does it take before the booklet is available?

Shouldn't be more than ₦2,000. I did mine at a government hospital for less than that. Plus they laminate it for you.

I would be renewing my passport soon. I checked the immigration site and the field for NIN isn't compulsory, but I've seen posts here saying that it's mandatory although it was in respect to a fresh application.
Please I would like to get a definitive, if possible from someone whom has done theirs recently.

I don't have issues with NIN....I have my NIN since May 2019. I did my capturing successfully and my application was approved.

By the way, I live in Ikeja..... and I applied at Alausa passport office.....will be relocating to the Island soon....as a result of job transfer.

And they keep writing AA on my collection slip.....who knows what that means? I'm certain the delay in my passport collection has nothing to do with NIN.

You can't be sure about your NIN status.
The fact that you've had your since since 2019 doesn't matter. After capturing, sometimes, your NIN doesn't automatically drop via immigration portal. Sometimes, it takes a little time to appear and if it doesn't drop, there's are no two ways about getting your passport.

u dnt need guarantor for your 2 years old child. Click on my name and find my comment on the requirements for passport for a child/minor.

The person could be right. What he got at the rate is attestation letter for persons above 18 years but if you are less than that age, you could get it 2k like the boss Oggg said.

You can call this number on their Twitter handle for Lagos residents. Ensure you negotiate very well and feed us back as well. I have called him and negotiated too.

So I'm getting a fresh passport and I'm using the DIY method. I just made payment not long ago and it states my interview date is 30th March.

1. I'm guessing this is the capture date right? And can I go to ikoyi before the stated date ?

2. Since I'll still have to go to court after doing affidavit for birth attestation to endorse my grantor's form, can't I do both endorsement and attestation same day ?

So I'm back to thank the brains behind this DIY method for all the heads up and the assistance throughout my application process.

So I applied and paid for my passport online (26k) on the 1st of Feb and went to the NIS office on the 3rd cos I had to fill and stamp the guarantor's form before going there (spent a total of 1k, 5h to print the forms and buy file and all, and 5h for court stamp). I submitted my form on the 3rd, and my interview/capturing date was on the 10th (You guys remember that I came back to rant here that I couldn't capture on that day after spending the whole day there simply cos my guarantor's form has only one passport photograph).

So I went back on the 11th with the extra passport, and when it was almost my turn to capture, they complained about poor network. Since I had other things to do, I left the office and came bk on the 12th. Finally captured on the 12th, and was given a collection on the 18th. These guys suddenly started being nice after my capturing ooo. I ended up making a lot of friends that day and on my collection day... Went back on the 18th and was issued my passport within 5mins.

So I ended up spending approximately 27k, (as against 55k an agent told me, and gave me 14 days before collection) and less than two weeks (if you minus the two days delay they caused me) to get my passport.

My advice? They'll definitely try to ridicule you cos you applied online and won't fetch them money, but don't mind them. Stand your grounds and face whoever needs to be faced, they attend to you Las Las cos they value their jobs.!

PS: I applied for fresh issue(32 pages, 5yrs) and in Portharcourt.

Go there before the date. Go on Tuesday and tell them you need it early. Ensure your NIN is okay

The last time I checked the old e passport without NIN was still very active. I planned doing this for my wife as she is having issues with NIN data modification
