Ogun Governor, Dapo Abiodun has handed patrol vehicles over to the Joint Security Intervention Squad (JSIS) to secure lives and property in Yewa (Ogun West Senatorial District) axis of the state against further attacks by suspected killer herdsmen.

JSIS was constituted two weeks ago by the State Government in response to the recent farmers/ herders clashes in Yewa Ketu area.


Members were drawn from the Nigeria Army, Nigeria Police, Department of State Security Service (DSS) and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

The security vehicles, comprising 10 operational vans and 20 motorcycles equipped with communication gadgets, were received by Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of JSIS Operations, DCP Ahmed Abdullahi, at a ceremony attended by the security chiefs in the state

Abiodun charged operatives of the JSIS to make optimal use of the equipment for protection of the state, hinting personnel of the South West Security Networks (SWSN) code named “Amotekun” will soon be deployed to reinforce JSIS.

He emphasised that equipping the taskforce with necessary working tools is more important than setting it up.

The Governor warned against ascribing crime to any ethnic nationality but addressing and treating criminals with appropriate provisions of the law.

Ogun get governor? The state is lagging behind in taking measures to cub herdsmen's troubles.

It is foolhardy/dumb to fight government sponsored terrorists with thesame government security aparatus. Imagine the Joint squad is being headed by another fulani (who will likely be sympathetic to his brothers) that he is employed to fight. Imagine the number of fulanis that will be in the task force. The Joint task force even sounded like ISIS (JSIS) (a dreaded terrorist group that is ravaging the middle east). This is instituting terrorists to fight a brother terrorists; impossible.

Imagine the DSS who are yet to detect and prosecute the sponsors of terrorism in the country (which the terrorist themselves have continually boasted of being in the government) but only come after those who criticise the terrorists government, the NSCDC that were supposed to prevent the killings at first but never cared (all they do is harassed, smoke and oppress those they should be protecting), the soldiers who harrased civillians indiscriminately but couldn't defeat terrorism for years and in many cases indicted in providing cover for terrorists fulanis, the police that continuously robbed civilians of their money and belongings and will demand bribe before they pursue a case and in many cases defended the fulani terrorists (i read an amotekun officer(s) was shot by a DPO in defence of the herdsmen terrorists), are those he institute to protect his people. This is Esual selling his birth right for a plate of porridge.

Who is advising this governor self. A local vigilante group drafted from Yewa and nearby villages, equipped with arms and mobility devices, would have been better.
