Please House, does coolant have effect on a car mileage? The reason am asking is because I discovered after adding coolant to my radiator for the first time in January, since then have noticed appreciable increase(improvement) in mileage, infact my car breathes better, covers the same distance with almost half the same litres. Am trying to know what I did right that could cause that significant increase in mileage. Before my Honda pilot covers about 65miles with 30litres, now the same 30litres gives roughly 100miles(this is only city driving with frequent stop and go)

Wow. This is a good learning point. The experts in the house should be able to explain this. But what prompted you to add coolant in the first place? Was your car overheating?

It might be that your gears are slipping due to worn out gearbox oil. Maybe it’s high time you changed your gearbox oil (with the recommended type) and also clean the solenoids on the gearbox at the same time.

If that doesn’t work then scan the gearbox for codes.
God bless you , will try it out

I had similar issue with my 2008 civic. What I did was to wash the radiator and flush the inside with pressurized water. After that my car came back to it normal. You might try it too.

How many litres of coolant did you pour in the radiator?

From top to bottom your dashboards visible warning lights are tyre pressure monitoring system, vehicle stability assist (VSA), electronic power steering and lastly the code all cars show when there’s a serious problem somewhere. Which of these lights came up recently and in what order did they all pop up since you’ve been using the car?

Scan the car to know if there’s more faults in the background.

P0420 code means your catalyst needs checking and P0011 means your engines bank 1 intake camshaft is advanced. Your camshaft sensor might need checking for this one and pray it does not mean worse. You’d finally need to scan the car to know more.

Did the vibration from use of the ac and driving at those speeds start at the same time?

About vibrations from using the ac it may be something simple like your throttle body needing some cleaning. If that wasn’t it then you can check your belts and the compressor itself to know if they are okay. Vacuum leaks cause vibrations too so check if some air hoses or connections are loose or broken/torn in your engine bay.

About driving and noticing vibrations at exactly those speeds you mentioned (not more or less) then it might be you need to first check your tyres for signs of deformity. If they are all okay then consider rotating them and going for wheel balancing and alignment also don’t forget to make sure your suspension components are all good as you take each tyre out of the wheel well during rotation.

Either one of your radiator or cooling fans are the culprit here. Just try to buy a new radiator and tell an auto electrician to install it and at the same time test your cooling fans individually to 12V(the car battery) to see if they are still working optimally. Change the engine of any one that’s not spinning very fast.

Thank you very much for your prompt response, I really appreciate it, please i will need a good auto guru that can help confirm the camshaft sensor please so as to know how soon and how much to replace it .. though car drives well, no rattle sound on start up in the morning ..

As regards the Vibration ...it does that when I put on the AC..
I will check the tyres to know how far with it

Good morning everyone
I drive a Honda Civic 07
I just changed the gasket cause of overheating recently.
It doesn’t overheat anymore, the temperature is normal, but I discovered that the engine oil changed color to milk like color. What could have been the problem and how can I resolve it. Thanks you plus I recently changed the oil.

Johnsonkeyz2019:

Car jerks like it has a cylinder misfire

When you depress the throttle and your engine stutters/stalls without moving forward accordingly

Unusual hard starting after parking for a while etc

Did you notice the engine oil creamy before or after your head gasket job?

If you noticed it after changing the gasket (and obviously changing the oil and filter) then it’s pointing to the fact that your head gasket job was a flop.

Take it back to the Mech to do a proper machining of the affected parts before finally coupling the engine plus don’t forget to rectify whatever caused your overheating problem in the first place or else your engine could go ‘kaput’ in the next unfortunate episode

Pls let us be reading our car manual if we have one, it can help us a lot.

I purchased Honda Civic 2008 in December, the engine and gear was never opened and still in very good condition but I discovered that driving was not smooth at all, a times it takes time b4 changing gear from low to high, at times it revv to 4500 rpm and still not changing gear, I have to put my leg off accelerator a bit to make the gear change. I took it for scan and only ABS code was found which by the way there is abs light on the dashboard already.

And just recently, I checked my manual and discovered that the transmission oil is way above the highest level, it is overfilled. I took it to garage and it was reduced and gauged to normal level. I instantly noticed a change in the driving, I still checked the oil and still above, then took it to the garage the 2nd time and low and behold my car is back on the road flying and pleasurable to drive.

Always know what your car need, don't allow the Kazeem destroy your car... Too much of any of the fluid in the car might not be healthy for the car. Thank you

Hi guys, good day. I drive a Honda Civic 2009
For a while now I noticed that once I engage my gear, it takes about 5 to 10s before it engages and there is this click or vibration like something just entered a slot, I didn’t think much about it. Yesterday while on 3mb, I noticed something falling off, don’t know if it’s one debris I matched or it’s from my car, after about 1 hour still driving I noticed when I slow down, it will be jerking like it wants to go off, but when I turn off the AC it will stop, and when I want to accelerate again, the car will be firing but it won’t pick till after a while or when I release my leg from the accelerator and press it again. when I got to VI, I parked somewhere slopey. And the car refused to reverse. Turned off the engine and put it back on, everything went back to normal. When I got to the office, I checked under the engine bay and noticed something like oil around an area I believe is the gear box area( I may be wrong). Just checked the gear oil gauge and it’s normal.
Though I noticed the gear light indicator blinking( it’s being like that since I got the car, abs light also on).

Changed the gear oil in January at honda place.

I’ll appreciate all inputs as it bothers me

Attached is my gear dip stick after car has been on for over 30mins

I think from your gauge ur transmission is overfilled, and ur D light blinking is as a result of ur abs, try removing abs fuse if d light will stop blinking or fix d abs
