So apparently Rashford has been playing with a shoulder injury that requires surgery after the Euros angry angry

Out of the top five players that have played the most minutes in the league this season, 4 is ours[Maguire, Fernandes, Bissaka, Rashford].

OGS for all his good man management absolutely runs his players into the ground, no wonder they all seem burnt out and bereft of ideas.

Bruno looks a shadow of himself, Rashford just recovered from a stress fracture not long ago and is already carrying another shoulder injury and he's still being played heavily. angry angry

If care is not taken and with our atrocious form, getting top 4 will be a real battle. With Amaka at the helm, anything is possible bottling included.
I fear that more disappointment is coming.

On Saturday when City played West Ham, this was their bench.....

Sterling $68m
Jesus $38m
Steffen $10m
Laporte $79m
Rodrigo $87m
Bernardo $60m
Mendy $72m
Cancelo $84m

If you can show/tell me anytime under Woodward we have had such a powerful bench while playing against a PL team, I owe you $100.

He bailed us out against Burnley & Fulham.
You're trying to be clever by a half, dropping their fees in dollars rather than pounds...

Man City squad for the season cost £810.9m whilst ours cost £628.1m...Taking into context that we have McTominay, Rashford, Tuanzebe and Greenwood in our squad who are academy graduates, you'd see that the £182m difference amounts to nothing...

For emphasis, Liverpool Squad that won the UCL and EPL in the past 2 seasons cost way less than City and United just incase you want to limit the argument to amount spent only...

All our high scoring match, this season, Pogba has not been involved. We lost against Sheffield United, Arsenal, Tottenham and even Crystal Palace with Pogba on the field. We have also played some drabless draw with him on the field.
Having good ball playing skills, Pogba might have better ball playing skills but his influence on the field is not different from that of Mctominay and Fred.

Fact.......

At the start of the season, I remember saying Ole doesn't trust his bench and it's evident...Nobody should come here and say the bench players haven't impressed when given minutes because in most cases, it takes an extended number of games for players to find their form...Look at us already questioning Telles, someone who was a starter for Porto and is a Brazilian international, VDB nkor? Williams hasn't got a look in so, if he isn't rated, why was Dalot loaned out? Tuanzebe and Lindelof played against PSG in what most of us thought was going to be a heavy trashing but the pair silenced Neymar and Mbappe but guess what, immediately Maguire returned, Tuanzebe was dropped to the bench...We still have Bailly o! Who can partner Lindelof but no, Maguire must start...When they all break down, he'll run to his bench players who are by now match rusty and we will here saying we need a quality bench...

Then the argument should be that we have not spent wisely, rather foolishly...I agree we need an experienced DoF but that doesn't take away the fact that even Ole has been supported to a large extent...

The fee we paid for Maguire, Wan-Bissaka and James could easily have gotten you 4 very good players who do not come with the hype...Ferran Torres was relatively cheap, so was Zichenko, Foden is an academy product...In fact, most of City buys are within the 50m benchmark or thereabout but if you look at our squad, you'd see we have a number of player we bought above 50m but you can't compare their output with that of their City counterparts...

You can imagine spending 80m on a CB yet we are still talking of signing a quality CB that's utter ridiculous...In midfield, Pogba, Fred and Bruno cost over 200m yet they can't play together and what about VDB, he was signed to provide cover in midfield yet we still persist with McFred...In attack, Martial is on 250k for doing what exactly? Rashford? Even Greenwood seems to have stagnated compared to Foden who is improving every other match day...Do they have the talent? I will say 'Yes' in the affirmative so, what's the problem? The manager, we do not have an identity even after he has spent 2 years here...

I looked at the team we put out against Palace and thought we had no excuse not to win that game...We can criticize the amount we paid for players and I wouldn't have no qualms but not to say we haven't spent...This season, we took just 1 point from a possible 6 from Crystal Palace, that's 5 points dropped against a team not in anyway better than us...Against Sheffield, we lost 1 and won 1, that's 3 points dropped...Against West Brom, we dopped 2 points...At other times, we dropped points late in the game against Leicester and Everton...You can see that the difference between us and Manchester City will easily be less than 4 points if we didn't drop points against teams we should be beating and whilst they're off days and fluke results are possible, ours is just too many you have to notice it...

Certainly, West Brom, Sheffield, Palace do not havs better players but we dropped points against them because we approached the canes like we were comfortably ahead and Ole just sat there looking at them play with no urgency whatsoever...

This is similar to what happened with JM. We focus all our attention on one sector and start criticising only that sector as if changing just one part will solve all our problems.

Moyes, LVG, JM, Amaka. 4 different managers with 2 of them being legendary managers. We changed them one after the other but not much has changed.

The only constants in all these have been the Glazers and Woodward. They are the only ones who have been here while we changed manager, players, training staff and still got unsatisfactory results.

It is not by just spending money but spending money wisely. City will spend 50m on a player worth 45-60m but United will spend 50m on a player worth 20m and 80m on a player worth 45m.

The time I heard we were interested in AWB it took me only 10 mins of YouTube videos to warn people here that he will struggle in a top team but Woodward approved 50m for him.

In an era in which top teams are playing with high lines Woodward approved 80m on a slow defender worth nothing more than 40-45m and who had only ever played in a low block all his life.

It is about the true quality of the player not the fee that a mugu paid for him. If you put lipstick on a pig it is still a pig. If you like pay 100m for Bakayoko he won’t magically change to Zidane.

I always go back to United showing interest in Gabriel Barbosa at the same time City was showing interest in Gabriel Jesus. We have blind men scouting and assessing players for us.

We should not belabour the fact that Amaka is a mediocre manager. We all know that, however our problems run deeper than that.

What difference does that make? Put United’s own in dollars or naira & it won’t amount to the aforementioned list.

patrickmuf:

And there lies the point. City have had a better academy system(since their new owners arrived) known as Elite Development Squad and yet only Foden could make the leap from the academy to their senior team.

United, however, have already pushed low quality youths to their senior team to fill up the quota. We have Rashford, Tuanzebe, McTominay, Greenwood, Amad, Shoretire, etc. None of these players except Rashford would make City’s squad.

When Pep arrived at City, all we kept hearing was that he was going to take their academy players to the next level like he did at Barca. It’s been almost 5 years and Foden is the only academy product he’s developed in that period. Pep buys finished products unlike the rotten system United have - promoting low quality graduates to fill in the ‘homegrown’ quota.

patrickmuf:

For emphasis, Liverpool Squad that won the UCL and EPL in the past 2 seasons cost way less than City and United just incase you want to limit the argument to amount spent only...

Liverpool also invested in a quality starting XI. Trent Alexander Arnold is the only academy graduate in their senior team. United have 6 or 7 of those in theirs of which only one(Rashford) is quality.

And you can see that Liverpool’s strategy proved to be unsustainable when an injury to Van Dijk alone destroyed their ambition as they fell from 1st position to 7th. If they had a monster squad like City’s where every centre half cost more than £50m, they wouldn’t be in their present predicament.

You have proven my point by citing Liverpool and you failed to show me a United bench in a PL game that was as rich in quality as the one I listed. You missed a huge opportunity to be $100 richer this morning.

What a chance!!!

The away unbeaten run is the only positive thing going for Ole.

With the cracks and level of tiredness in the team, not sure top 4 is even certain. Key players are tired, also, we keep hearing that players are swearing at themselves.

Thank you doc, whenever i see the kind of playere we want to sign sometimes i wonder whether our scouts and management are drunk or what, you dont even need to splash astronomical amount on players to get quality. In the last 2-3 Years, we left fullbacks like James Justin, Matty Cash, Solly march, Ricardo Perriera etc who are very cheap but excellent to sign AWB who is clearly lacking in Attack, infact AWB only thrives in last ditch tackles which only unserious teams need to make most times, his positioning awareness is atrocious and an accident waiting to happen, how Chelsea players failed to capitalise on this during our match with them remains a mystery to me.

We left Fabinho who is even proven at high level and is clearly a baller to sign Fred at a higher price, we signed Dalot for 19m for almost the same amount as Ricardo Perriera of Leicester.

Maguire was 11m at Hull and was highly mentioned but we allowed him go to Leicester to buy Linjollof, only to buy Maguire for 80m 2 years later. There was Son for 21m, but we preferred Mkhitaryan(who was very good though). Instead of Harvey Barnes we took Giggs advice to get James. Almost all our signings since Fergie retired has been either average or outright flop except for Bruno. You cant continue signing average players on high fees and expecting them to play above their level.
Since 2017 Klopp signed Robertson, Allison, Mane, Sallah, Fabinho, VVD, Wijnaldum and promoted TAA and Gomez, that was a total overhaul only Henderson the captain retained his place in the starting XI, imagine the perfection.

After 2004-2006 dry years of Fergie, the next signing he made launched the team to very high level. We moved from Silvestre, Bellion, Kleberson, Roy Carrol, Quinton Fortune, Hienze, Djemba Djemba to the core of new signings Vidic (€7m), Evra (€5m), Van der Sar(€1m), Carrick (£15.8m) and J.S Park (€4m), Plus the maturity of Rooney , Ronaldo and a certain Darren Fletcher. Giggs, Scholes and Ferdinand have always been world class. So the quality of signings are important not amount as we think now. Fergie bought 21 year old Chicharito for $5m, who started benching big money Berbatov within few matches of the season.

Therefore, we just need to move on a lot of this our current crops and some of the starters need to start coming from the bench to usher in great well researched signings. I know the Glazers are stingy but Klopp and Fergie as aforementioned didn't spend much of fortune to reach the zenith. That's where Ole will need to be cut lose too

I am with you on this. Even Ole himself knew he is not good enough but just wanted to milk the situation as much as he could. That's why he kept sacking the dicks of greedy Glazers by keep shouting " I am happy with my squad " even though we have Magwaya, Tuanzebe, Linjollof, Jones and hospital-based Bailly as our centre back options with Fred and Mctoms(I think he will be a good bench option but not confirmed starter) as our midfield option. Ole knew he cant get any job in a serious club, so he is just using politics to to hold on to his job

They will do extremely well against City in curtailing or stopping their intricate passes. The biggest challenge with McFred is what they do with the ball after winning it. This seems to be their biggest weakness. Fred’s use of the ball is horrendous but he’s excellent at winning them.

Ole’s tactical acumen will be to sit back, hope McFred wins the ball in a moment when City have camped in United’s half and then launch a counterattack.

If Fred makes use of the ball very well like he did in the same fixture last season, United could get a draw or even win. Besides, don’t forget it’s a derby game. Form flies out of the window in such games because a lot of other factors are in play.

Greenwood isn't quality just because he is coached by Ole...Before this season, who will put Foden beside Greenwood especially after his performances last season? What changed? One plays in a system that works, one plays for a team that depends on magic for anything to happen...Put Greenwood at City and Foden at United and let's see if Foden will stand a chance...

What makes City academy better? The 'Elite' attached to it? Lol...

If Torres, Foden and Jesus are first teamers at City, Greenwood will definitely make it there...And for your info, I have seen relatively unknowns make City bench and even played (Delap's son and a couple of other come to mind), which totally invalidates your assessment of United just because Shoretire made the squad and even then, it's our tradition...

The Liverpool line doesn't cut it, for emphasis, VVD, Gomez and Matip are all out injured, that's equivalent to City having Laporte, Dias and Stones all out...Remember, Dias was only signed when Pep saw Laporte was having difficulty recovering fully and staying match fit juxtapose that with VVD who has been an ever present for Liverpool before now, did you expect Klopp to splash the cash for another CB just for the sake of it? Hell no! Even Pep doesn't buy for the fun of it except a starter is struggling...As much as Liverpool have missed VVD and others in defense, you have to also acknowledge that they're struggling in attack...We have scored more goals than Liverpool even though Martial and Greenwood have been off form that alone should tell how bad the situation is at Anfield...

As for the $100, look around you, they must be someone that needs it more...I'm quite comfortable where I am...

Your infantile argument is laughable.

Greenwood shouldn’t have been promoted so soon, that’s the point. When Foden was Greenwood’s age, he was nowhere near City’s senior team. Greenwood has quality, of course. However, thrusting him into the senior team too soon is going to cause another Macheda, Januzaj, James Wilson. It’s too easy for United’s academy products to get into the senior team - that should worry you.

patrickmuf:

What makes City academy better? The 'Elite' attached to it? Lol...

They have played 5 FA Youth Cup finals in the last 6 years - including a victory in 19/20 season. United haven’t played in a final since Pogba and Ravel Morrison won the Cup in 2010/11. That’s how bad things have been for United’s academy.

The City babies also won the last 2 editions of the U18 Premier League cup while your own boys have been in a deep slumber. You need to start paying attention to the conveyor belt that is producing these rookies before asking a stupid question what the EDS has achieved.

patrickmuf:

If Torres, Foden and Jesus are first teamers at City, Greenwood will definitely make it there...And for your info, I have seen relatively unknowns make City bench and even played (Delap's son and a couple of other come to mind), which totally invalidates your assessment of United just because Shoretire made the squad and even then, it's our tradition...

You don’t know what you are talking about.

You are comparing Jesus & Torres to Greenwood? How many goals has Greenwood scored for 3 Lions? How many has Jesus & Torres scored for their respective countries? Are you people so ignorant of what’s happening around you that makes you spew opata?

patrickmuf:

The Liverpool line doesn't cut it, for emphasis, VVD, Gomez and Matip are all out injured, that's equivalent to City having Laporte, Dias and Stones all out...Remember, Dias was only signed when Pep saw Laporte was having difficulty recovering fully and staying match fit juxtapose that with VVD who has been an ever present for Liverpool before now, did you expect Klopp to splash the cash for another CB just for the sake of it? Hell no! Even Pep doesn't buy for the fun of it except a starter is struggling...

More nonsense as usual.

Even if you remove VVD, Dias and Laporte from City due to injury, Fernandinho and Nathan Ake would fill that role with class and not drop down to 7th. They also have Eric Garcia who is already capped for Spain. They have a monstrous squad!

patrickmuf:

As much as Liverpool have missed VVD and others in defense, you have to also acknowledge that they're struggling in attack...We have scored more goals than Liverpool even though Martial and Greenwood have been off form that alone should tell how bad the situation is at Anfield...

You can’t have a terrible defence and attack with vigor. Football is a system. It’s the defensive base that allows midfielders to bomb forward knowing they have a strong defence to thwart off any surprise counter attacks.

Besides, Liverpool’s problems are much more than VVD’s absence. Klopp has had them running 200mph for the last 3 seasons - there was always going to be a meltdown season especially with the COVID-effect that has forced most teams to play 3 times a week.

Klopp didn’t adapt to the new climate. Pep did by signing more players, Pep adapted by reducing their PPDA(passes allowed per defensive action) & Pep reduced other energy consuming football metrics. Klopp still had his team playing like nothing was missing.

The meltdown was inevitable.

patrickmuf:

As for the $100, look around you, they must be someone that needs it more...I'm quite comfortable where I am...

You can’t possibly be comfortable and present such puerile and infantile points.

Do better, kid.
