*No-fly zone: Ganduje warns against politicizing security matters*

The governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Ganduje, has cautioned politicians not to toy with security matters, saying negative reactions from states can undermine the efforts of the federal government in securing the nation.

He described the declaration of Zamfara a no-fly zone as a well thought-out security strategy by the National Security Council that will help to overcome security challenges not only in Zamfara but other neighbouring states.

Reacting to the declaration, the governor, who spoke to journalists at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano, noted that politicians should at least wait and see how the strategy works before making comments that are capable of undercutting the efforts of our security services to keep the country safe.

Mr Ganduje’s comments, which were contained in a statement issued by the state commissioner for Information, Muhammad Garba, Saturday, further observed that the measure would aid in cutting suspected logistics supply and evacuation of the nation’s natural resources particularly gold.

“The issues of security should be beyond partisan considerations. I do not see anything political in declaring the no-fly zone in Zamfara state. It is purely based on security and intelligence report that there are suspicious criminal activities going on there.

The area has abundant natural resources, particularly gold and there is this suspicion the helicopters that venture into the forest and mining areas are being used to transport food and other supplies to the bandits including weaponry,” he said.

He said that what the country needed now were concerted efforts by stakeholders to combat the scourge of kidnappings, insurgency and banditry thumping the country rather than reducing it to a mere political tool.

The governor said in view of the prevailing security challenges, particularly in the North West and North East, there is the need for a synergy between the states and the federal government to prevent the situation from getting out of control.

He also said that a concerted approach by state governments and the cooperation of all security agencies, traditional rulers, community and religious leaders is urgently needed to successfully tackle and overcome security challenges in the country.

Old fool. Ganduje is not even a real politicians he is a kwankwaso's home boy with lack of self confidence. Mutawalle of Zamfara is far better than corrupt Gandollar.

Hosea 9:9 They have sunk deep into corruption, as in the days of Gibeah. God will remember their wickedness and punish them for their sins.

This damned country needs to be overhauled from top to bottom

Isaiah 1:4 Woe to the sinful nation, a people whose guilt is great, a brood of evildoers, children given to corruption! They have forsaken the LORD; they have spurned the Holy One of Israel and turned their backs on him.

Why won't it be politicized when under PDP led government, you guys politicized the fight against Boko Haram as being against the north.

What was your reaction when Borno was to come under emergency rule under Jonathan?

Who noticed how the former Borno governor Kashim Shettima went underground since he left office?

Modafvcking terrorists!

Ganduje is saying this cos he is on the better side of the divides.

Assuming the federal government was held by PDP, would he have said this, if Zamfara State being ruled by APC (as opposition) is declared a non-flight zone by the FG?

Two states are very much ravaged by Bandits (Zamfara and Katsina), one is declared a no flight zone while the other is left alone. How justified is that not being termed a politicized action by the federal government?

Talking about the transportation of gold being mined and exchanged for arms in Zamfara, if Zamfara State is declared a no flight zone, these same bandits can transport the golds to adjoining state like Katsina and Sokoto to exchange for arms and lift them through flight from these states.

In a situation like this, there should be buffer zone around the state in question, Zamfara. States like Sokoto and Katsina should be included in the buffer zone for the no flight approach strategy in order to have a plausible result.

Calm down George. Someone with high IQ like yourself (George) will not think they know better on security issues of a state, than the governor. Move along or you will lose your share of banana

I'm not understanding if the federal government cannot effectively monitor flights in and out of its territory how can they enforce a no fly zone.

It's well just wondering though why Zamfara will be slammed with such restrictions why the main killing field Kaduna is left unscaled.

Wondering why are some people are against the no fly zone in Zamfara even when it was alleged that private jet were used to delivered items for the acclaimed bandits.

Or do those people know more that we know?
