My advise to all is that there is nothing to fret about; as long as you have fundamentally sound stocks in your portfolio.
Should your short/medium term plays get affected, apply either or both of the following 2 options:
1. Step on the breaks and exit your position to get back in immediately a sustained recovery is detected.
2. Average down if you trust they are good stocks.

The above advise may be belated considering the market has had a sign of recovery.

Hello house I just wanted to drop my observations here (I might be wrong maybe it's a one time event and feel free to correct me as I'm just starting this US Stock thing).

I noticed at the opening of market each day stock prices usually go up or down based on News, and several factors which I don't know. Then around 3 to 5 hours later it start going down and towards the end of the market it comes up again. So yesterday I decided to test the hypothesis.

At the beginning of the market Tesla share was trading around 600 or so (I got 2 the previous day at $625) so I kept close eyes on it. It went down to 540 and at that point I wanted to buy but it dip a little bit so I set the buy option to 500 (poor me i read an article online that says Tesla stock is overvalued at 500) when I came back in the evening it was already back to 590. I panickly got 1 at 580 something.

Meanwhile mid market (when the stocks were bleeding for real) I got some Sensonics for $2.2 per share, some Naked Wire and 5 pieces of NIO (I wanted to buy this one last week for over $40 but ended up buying it at $34 each yesterday). At the end of the market the 3 went up and all were Green.

Note: When I started last month I had no clue of what I was doing, I just come here and see recommendations and I buy them straight away without DD (I didn't even have a clue what to look out for then). My folder is still very very red but it's good to see 4 to 5 of the stocks being green in the middle of this dip

A lot of institutions that used bots missed out of the rally last April because who would have thought of a pandemic and its effect on the matket. Also put in mind that the US market is very efficient. That is , it reacts to info quickly. So the trends you notice are just reaction to current news. Lastly, it is assumed that newbies rush to trade at the opening of the market whike the big boys (institutional investors) do most trading towards the close of the trading session. So just hold off to onsetve wehere the trend is going unless you are uktra long teem. But nice one. Love the fact that you are trying to read between the lines

Correct. With this someone can day trade. Now that you are listening to us, is there away you can include all US stocks? Even if it means increasing your commission. Every offshore brokers rejected us, because we are Nigerians. One guy told me on twitter that Nigeria is a red zone, Terrorists. Boko Haram and Fulani Herdsmen caused this. One of the dividends of being in the same country with northern Nigeria.
Please do this, include all US stocks. You will screen for a stock and you go back to trove only to find the stock missing. Its heart breaking really.

On testing the local brokers; Trove and chaka are just manageable. These platforms are constantly having one issue or another. [b]Recently Chaka was rejecting sale of a stock I had in my portfolio (it only took my insistence that the company should sell the stock herself before issue could be resolve), again tried to but TRXC, platform refused to buy despite the availability of the stock. For Trove, just this friday I withdrew money from my account, expected positive balance was now showing negative, thus depriving me use of my available fund.

In conclusion we can say that the local brokers are just necessary evil, but we have to continue managing them probably before we decide to go for a good foreign broker. If this tick of finding childish way of withholding client's money, platform showing your positive wallet as negative balance will stop, somebody like me will be okay with the Chaka & Trove[b], the number of equities over 3,000/4000 available on the platform is no issue for someone like me

Good morning, I don't work in trove. This was sent out on their Telegram group. You can send them a mail

All US stock trading accounts are individual by default meaning all US trading accounts on Trove automatically come with a dedicated account number and is in your name with the broker.

Local stocks are custodial (held with ARM Securities who takes care of dividends and the likes ) and individual ( Sigma Securities - you have an account number but have to take care of dividends yourself )

If you don’t actively trade Nigerian stocks then there’s really no need bothering about custodial or individual as US brokerage accounts all come in your name with a dedicated account number which is individual by default as mentioned earlier

Yes, registered late last year.

If you keep changing investment strategy based on market movements, you don't have an investment strategy.

If you keep changing portfolio constantly reacting to news flows, you're not a long term investor.
