Would it be indicated in my i-20 that I was exempted from writing English Proficiency Exam?

Thanks for this clarification. I was also wondering how Georgia state university and university of Illinois are classified as unserious schools. Meanwhile on this same thread I saw people with half scholarships and assistantship from these schools, that's why I asked for advice from those people already in the system who knows better, I don't need advice that would discourage my efforts.

People like you are difficult to advise because you are already emotionally attached to the schools and only want to hear what favours you.

I told you that I also have admission at the University of Illinois at Chicago but it appears that was not enough for you to understand my position.

You do not need to pay enrollment deposit before scholarship or other funding decisions are extended to you and that was why I tagged them to be unserious.

However, if you are convinced that paying the deposit will make the difference, please go ahead.

God doesn’t give sponsorship nor scholarships. If you apply to schools that doesn’t have scholarships, you won’t get one. So do your research well since your prospective degree is uncommon amongst Nigerians coming to the US

It's not an issue of oil on your head, it's practical reality. Yes you studied at a top Nigerian school with scholarships - the key here is the school was in YOUR country, where you are a citizen. I doubt the same scholarship would have been available to a foreign student from Kenya, and I'm very sure it's not because the foreign student had no oil.

It is likely that schools in the US would reserve scholarships in the liberal arts to US citizens and residents. Most scholarships you may read of here are largely in the sciences. I don't see a lot of those in the arts unless you are a prodigious talent.

But don't let that deter you from searching.

You must be a truly deluded person to think that an unusual email just popped and then he got the scholarship. Wise and enlightened people are advising you to work hard, put in the effort and be realistic, and you are here arguing. Anyways, you will learn cos I don't even know where to start with someone like you.

Stop fooling around and change the oil in your head. So you think the email popped up without the applicant doing the necessary things?

If you are going for a Bsc program, you'll take TOEFL and
SAT.. If MBA, you'll take GMAT.. if going for MSc, GRE and TOEFL (some schools sees Nigeria as an anglophone country so the English test is always waived)

Study each school requirements and make sure to adhere to it. You can also call them or send a mail if there are more
questions, you'll surely be assisted

You can also ask for funding opportunities that is financial
aid that range from full ride to partial scholarship, Teaching
Assistant, Research Assistant, Graduate Assistant. These
comes with some stipend, which you have to work for of
course and not hope an unusual email pop up on your timeline.

See what you'll do. Go to that ceac website ceac.state.gov , chose your location and as soon as you do that, you'll something like "test photo" , then click on it and follow the instruction. Do that let's see what the response will be. If it says photo background not okay, edit the photo and increase the brightness a little bit.

Or let me ask, did you scan and crop the image yourself?

1. Why are you talking about military? It will seem like you just crammed that

2. In IT Support, do you deal with cybersecurity currently. You have to know how to tie it

3. You have solid home ties, that's a huge positive for your visa. Don't just beat off the idea of leaving your son behind, you can put small emotions into it.

well I can comfortably take the backlash from all comments. As long as I get relevant information. Thanks for replying, I am applying for undergraduate degree. Fall 2021, do I need both TOEFL and SAT, or just one? If only one, which is more affordable as regards to exam fee.

Like I said earlier, not all school requires an English test(TOEFL) from Nigerian students because they see Nigeria as an English speaking country so most schools waive it so it depends on the school you're applying to.

It means you'll write just SAT and if you perform well in it and you also have a good CGPA after evaluating your WAEC result, I don't see any reason you shouldn't be given a scholarship, you also have to check the school's requirement about getting scholarship because not all schools offer scholarship.

And about the cost, I don't have an idea but since you're trying not to spend much, look for schools that don't require an English test from Nigerian students so you'll be left with only SAT to write.

Good day all. I am quite new here but have gone through a few posts by people on this platform and I must say God will continue to bless everyone that has contributed immensely to humanity via this medium.

Please, I will like to ask what advise should be given to a family of five (5) where the wife just got a PhD admission in the USA and will like to go with the entire family especially because of the number of years for the program, and because of the very tight work schedule of the spouse, taking proper care of the children would be a bit challenging for him for the number of years the wife wont be available.(Note: both mother-in-laws are aged).

Again, home ties seems to be very key in visa interview. The wife is also considering the support the spouse will be able to provide for her if they all go together in terms of the taking care of the children ( obodo oyinbo, na every man for himself).

Sorry, my post is becoming too lengthy, please, gurus and my seniors in the house, your advise and comments would be highly appreciated on this matter. Thanks and God bless you all.
Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 16 by revenant: 1:50pm On Mar 08, 2021
Good day all.
So I got an admission for an MSc program (Environmental Science) in the US with no funding. Although the Program Director told me that they are working on additional funding (Which I cannot rely on) and will inform me if there is any update regarding funding.

The total funds required for one academic is about $34,000 (All Fees including living expenses). I am thinking about accessing loan for the Program through one of the agency mentioned on this thread. And a friend is willing to gift me some funds as well. I can be able to take care of Visa Fee, SEVIS Fee and Flight fare.

I want to know from those who are already based in the US if this is worth the risk, most especially with the loan repayment.

All opinions are welcome.

Thank You

You sound deluded and I hope you learn quickly that God will only certify what you have put in your own hard work... Unusual email doesn’t pop up anywhere if you don’t qualify for Scholarships. This is not Nigeria where they grant scholarships or positions to the most undeserving people. You have to do your own part before you call on God...

Lastly, you need to do more research since your prospective course of study is unusual amongst international Students. No one can recommend a good school for you because many don’t even know about studying this course in the USA. Do not leave the research for God, hit the internet, research more about it. Btw, I am currently a graduate student at MTSU and I asked a colleague about music department. It is very difficult to find a single international student in that department. The best way to go is to send an email to the department and you may apply through audition. see link below: https://www.mtsu.edu/music/musicadmissions.php

Hello brother, your story really touched me and every day we learn that doing it ourselves is the best and not to use any agency of any kind. I finished high school in 2013 but just started school last year august so you have a lot of time ahead of you. Don't be bothered about your friends in school, everyone has their own path and I believe you have chosen the right part.

Now, if you want to make progress, you have a lot of research to do. I know for a fact that public schools in Germany, Norway, Belgium and some other scandinavian countries are tuition free. It appears your parents can pay for the living expenses so you are good to go. Start making your research and reaching out to people who are already there.

Yeah comparison definitely shouldn’t be his thing right now, he should take a look at those countries you listed up their alongside Sweden too. Good things come only to those that never give in.

About you finishing high school in 2013 bro, how did you navigate the custom question from colleges that ask for a written explanation of what one has been doing since graduation?

I actually completed high school in 2014 and though I’ve had couple intern roles and jobs to go, I am anxious of this also being a possible question at the embassy.
