The Northern Premier had concluded plans to travel to Sokoto for the muslim sallah holidays on January 15. His Chief Driver, Ali Sarkin Mota[Ali Kwarbar] and ADC, Aliyu Kangiwa, ensured all was in order as guests were entertained.


So having learnt of the coup,he choose to party than escape

Admitting that all the elites including Akintola and Saraduna were aware of the impending coup, demolishes the Yoruba media propaganda of Zik receiving a special tip off about the coup that other elites didn't receive.
I also remember that Zik escape on vacation to Caribbean is one of the many lies Yoruba Igbophobic propaganda machine used to paint the coup as Igbo coup.

If we accept that Zik got same tip off Saraduna , Akintola and indeed all the then elites got, but decided to not escape, it weakens the IGBO coup falsehood peddled for decades by Yoruba media even more.

So yes! This is a very vital information.

Akintola was aware of something big coming or let me say he was aware some elements of disgruntled soldier are gearing up for a show. Cuz months to the coup Akintola was already training on how to use sub machine gun and when the soldiers arrived at his resident he fired back too. So he was aware. For ZIK he was just an intelligent that took the coup serious. One of Zik quote I like will "You don't argue with a man holding a gun" so people get your history right. And stop propaganda. And b4 una come talk say I be igbo check my bio am a full blooded yoruba boy i just chose Nationalism over bigotry
