In order to forestall possible breakdown of law and order, security agencies were Monday deployed to the 10 public/grant-aided missions schools caught in hijab controversy in Ilorin, Kwara State capital.

The affected schools include C&S College Sabo Oke, ST Anthony College, Offa Road, ECWA School, Oja Iya, Surulere Baptist Secondary School, Bishop Smith Secondary School, Agba Dam, CAC Secondary School Asa Dam road, St. Barnabas Secondary School Sabo Oke, St. John School Maraba, St. Williams Secondary School Taiwo Isale, and St. James Secondary School Maraba.

The state government had in the wee hours of Monday ordered the indefinite closure of the schools which were billed to resume following the government’s pronouncement that students be allowed to practice their religion, by wearing hijab in Christian schools.

A visit by Vanguard to Bishop Smith’s school, St Anthony school, C&S school, among others showed armed guarded soldiers with pilot vehicles stationed, at the main entrance of the affected schools.

Apart from this, plain-cloth security men were also seen around the schools so as to forestall any unforeseen situation in the area.

Vanguard reliably gathered that some Christian leaders who mobilised students to the affected schools were dispersed by the security operatives, likewise some students who appeared in hijab.

Armed soldiers, schools closure, all because of hijab? Where's our love? Where's tolerance? Too bad!

It's well.

If Muslim schools will allow Christian students fellowship and wearing of cross to their schools, then it's fair . Else.... injustice

These security operatives are needed mostly in Niger, zamfara, kaduna, katsina and other restive northern states not schools. Misplaced priorities

Why is the Kwara State government trying to arrogate the powers of the Supreme Court to itself? The matter is still in the SC!

Is a head gear the problem of education in the state?

they are all Christian schools forcefully taken over by the government and intimidated into religious controversies, why force a christian school to use Hijab.

religious intolerance is crazy.

they were and are still christian schools regardless of the unwanted grants..

The arguments in the dailies looks as though the Christians were trampling on the Muslims fundamental human right in a public school in quote but the real evil is a serious power tussle and a well organised act of dominance and oppression. The Ilorin predominantly Muslims have tried to use every possible political means to suppress Christian institutions across the state. This is the latest in thier efforts to destroy every last Christian strong institutions and collapse the structure. The Christian leaders in Kwara have tried, if it is the will of God that the government's directive holds, then so be it. We don't fight for God here, we make the necessary efforts and then let God fight for his church.

God's will will prevail. Did the school beg for the financial aide some 47 years ago? So they can decide to takeover any school that enjoyed the covid-19 support funds too.

Religious superiority is what is playing out here..

Janjaweeders with the help of federal govt. is pulling a stunt that will eventually consume them...
Before now,we have never been this devided along religious, political and religious lines...

I wonder why the south west is allowing these people set themselves against each other.

why always the west...
I guess it's a conquered territory

What is the relevance of Hijab to Nigeria?

Is Hijab our culture?

Will Saudi Arabia declare that all schools in their domain wear compulsory Gele, Aso Oke, Fila, or Agbada to their schools?

Religion is a CURSE in Nigeria.
Religion is an instrument of domination!

I hate religion because of Nigeria's style of practice.

Nigeria makes religion uninteresting!

We are killing our culture!

can Islamic schools admit a Christian student in their school, not to talk of allowing her put on her religions clothes. Don't be bias. Why can't the Muslims withdraw their children from the said Christians school and take the to were hijab is accepted.
