Last week was the falling flyover ( Anthill of Kwata and Aroma junction Awka), yesterday was the over bloated Aguleri water scheme. If the governor can do this substandard work at his hometown, I wonder what will become of other projects (if any) in other towns.

Six persons on Monday escaped death when a water tank sponsored by the European Union collapsed in Aguleri, Anambra East Local Government Area of Anambra State.
The project was meant to supply water to four communities in the area
The project which was sited in Aguleri, where Governor Willie Obiano hails from reportedly collapsed on Monday afternoon.
An eye witness told our correspondent that there was no casualties but that six persons were working near the scene when the incident occurred.
He said, " There was no casualties despite the high overhead tank being situated in a densely residential area. Six casual workers were working near the tank when it collapsed.
The state commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Mr C-Don Adinuba confirmed the incident.
He however insisted that it was wrong for projects of such nature to be sited in the state without consulting the state government for supervision.
"The collapse of the water tank underscores the need for greater state goverment's involvement in the execution of projects by development partners like the European Union.
There is, indeed, a need for adjustments in the manner projects are executed," Adinuba stated.

Commendation trails Anambra/EU inauguration of Otuocha Regional water project
Okey Onwuka
May 19, 2020 15:42:17

By Ekene Kwazu :

Otuocha (Anambra East LGA), May 19, 2020 (MOI) Anambra State Commissioner for Works, Mr Marcel Ifejiofor has described Gov. Willie Obiano as a leader that believes in grassroots development.

The commissioner made the commendation, while being interviewed by newsmen during the inauguration of Otuocha Regional Water Scheme at Aguleri, Anambra East Local Government Area (LGA).

The project was carried out in partnership with the European Union (EU); it will supply portable water to three communities in Anambra East LGA -- Aguleri, Umuleri and Umuoba-Anam.

The water, sourced from Omambala River would be treated and reticulated for public consumption.

It was being treated at a massive plant with capacity to treat 10 million litres of water daily with standard facilities to serve the communities.

Mr Ifejiofor, an engineer, who hails from Aguleri, noted that this was the first time the communities would be accessing portable water.

According to him, the project will go a long way improving water supply and sanitation in communities.

Ifejiofor re-assured that the communities would not relent in mobilising the people to protect the facilities.

He urged the people to make judicious use of the water and protect it from vandals.

President–General, Aguleri Progressive Union, Mr Chibuzor Onwuegbuka hailed the project noting that the water project had come in at the right time.

The PG said that it would boost the socio- economic activities in communities and promote environmental health.

An indigene, Mr Chukwuemeke Okafor thanked the government, committing him and his family to God's care. (MOI)

Guys please what's your say on this peaceful protest of Umueri indigines over Anambra airport land, Umueri Airport road, and naming of the airport as Umueri Airport
Account to them they donated parcel A and B which is 729.606 and 539.781 now they are grabbing parcel C and D for future development and estates around the airport, they also claimed Obiano is taking there land indirect in the name of airport

I think
1. The ANSG should sign a mou with them or ld agreement on the parcel C and D of land they are grabbing

2. Naming of the airport, the airport should not be named after Willie Obiano, or Onitsha ot Awka, I think Anambra International Airport is good, naming it after Umueri is not really good, Umueri is not a popular town

3. On the Airport road, I think the Nteje-Umueri road is the main road because it's in between Onitsha and Awka, the Umueri road is too far, but to please the host community, ANSG should link the Umueri Airport road to any of the three Access roads, if that will make them happy

The governor has the right to take any land that pleases him for development purposes as conferred on him by the Constitution (Land use Act). I expect the PG of Umueri town to be educating his people about this, PG is not all about collecting monthly dues.

This is fantastic. It will get the east moving in a major way. The narrow gauge is what they use in Japan and it will be fast! You will be surprised. This is modern and built by china. They know how to do it. Forget about standard gauge. If we have this rail line connecting south east states and then with the port in Bonny and our airports in anambra and ebonyi. The east is going to have an influx of our people moving back home and that are is going witness an economic boom. All we need now is to elect governors who sole job is infrastructure.

On the Rehabilitation of Eastern Narrow Guage Rail Line

Amaechi cried to the Fulani Cabal that he has nothing to show his Eastern Nigerian people as achievement except the Daura to Maradi Niger Republic and the Lagos - Ibadan Rail lines.
Amaechi told them he cannot go home and face his people again.
The Fulani cabal then decided to save their good boy Amaechi at least by half by inaugurating the rehabilitation of the Eastern COLONIAL NARROW GUAGE Railway.
So while the West and North are enjoying Standard Guage of minimum 2 lines (lanes) East will continue with old colonial narrow guage that takes 3 DAYS to reach ILORIN from ENUGU !
Very shocking some imbecilic Igbos are defending Amaechi and his Fulani friends for this beggerly crumbs of narrow guage rail line.

This is why bigoted, Igbo-hating scumbags despise guys like you and i. They try to obfuscate national developmental issues with plenty grammar and red-tape when it comes to the turn of Ndigbo or the south-east, but when it concerns the core-north (or south-west which is usually next in line for grabbing from the commonwealth), there's no too much talk....you just wake up one morning and hear a billion dollar world-class project is to be sited in their region with papers already signed and the necessary loans (which you and i will join them in paying back) already procured from China! They try to deceive naive and gullible Igbo that Buhari is fair-minded and Ndigbo are getting treated equally with the north-west and south-west, but when the likes of you and i appear on the scene to expose their lies, they get furious!

Before we cry foul as regards the rail project, what has the entire politicians from the SE said about it?
Our Governors, what has they said?
Our problem as a region goes beyond Buhari, what if the Governors come together and reject the proposal, and insist on a standard Guage?
They won't, because all of them want to be President..

I have intentionally kept calm since you started spewing trash on Umueri matters, but, it's time I educate you a little.

the governor has no right under any known law to take over any parcel of land(s) except it is "Overriding Public Interest"

And, you cannot tell me that Airport is Overriding Public Interest to Agriculture

secondly, the governor and the government cannot take over any plot of land anywhere without first issuing a revocation notice and paying adequate compensation for it.

thirdly, the government and the governor can not aquire one plot of land outside the one which revocation notice was issued and which has been gazetted

it amazes me how some people come online to talk bla bla bla on issues they are totally naive of.

mtchewwwww!
