Delta State Govt, Lawmakers, Others in Fierce Battle with FG over £4.2 million Ibori Loot

The decision of the federal government to keep for its use the £4.2 million expected to be repatriated from Britain being recovered funds from former Delta State governor, James Onanefe Ibori has sparked off a big row with the state government and prominent Deltans insisting on its return to the state.

The Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, had on Tuesday disclosed that the Federal Executive Council (FEC) had directed that the £4.2million expected loot be deployed to fund some key federal government infrastructure projects. Malami, who disclosed this during the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the British and Nigerian Governments, added that the money would also impact significantly on the Lagos-Ibadan and the Abuja-Kano expressway projects...CLICK THE LINK BELOW TO READ MORE

The federal Government must not listen to Okowa and his cronies, because if such funds are released to Delta state they would be diverted to Thief Ibori' s account same day.
Moreover, Delta State government never concurred that Ibori funded his personal companies with Delta state government funds.
OKOWA HAS TO CONCUR THAT IBORI TRULY STOLE HUGE, OUTRAGEOUS FUNDS FROM THE STATE COFFER BEFORE HE CAN APPLY FOR SUCH FUNDS

Delta state should go to court if they want the money. Making noise in the press won’t change the MOU that was signed between Nigeria and UK. If FG violates the MoU, the UK government won’t release the over £100million Ibori loot that is still with them.

It's just the beginning,

The looted fund belongs to Delta State. If the condition for the return of the said loot by UK is for the FG to sign a MoU on the judicious use of the fund, then FG should use it to execute projects in Delta State which is already in need of several developmental projects.

I totally agree that the funds might if not completely, party returned to Ibori one way or the other because of his overwhelming influence on the State and the incumbent Governor, but the money clearly belongs to Delta and therefore, should either be returned directly to the state or be used for projects in the state by the FG

Judging by my own perspective to this matter....
I strongly suggest that the money is divided into 2 parts, 50% distributed to all 36 states equally after which the other 50% go back to Delta state purse.

You know why? We have pitched them against each other, wait, watch as many looted funds will start dropping cool.

Part of the money is already planned to be used for Delta State in building Second Niger Bridge that link Delta with Anambra States. Let Delta State identify more projects they want the money to be spent on , so that Federal Govt awards and executes the projects

The fed govt should just apply the funds for Delta state projects. The MOU should have accommodated this.

Okowa should make sure the funds are applied to Delta state and no other state. This is Delta state’s money.
