there is no how precast will last longer. Precast is to save cost and join the parapet crew. If one can't afford the casting on the building, they should just leave parapets.

I don't even listen to anyone telling me to cast, I'll do my precast and use the extra money saved for something else. Parapet is just for fancy, precast achieves that.

and you won't mind using nails or iron to grab the parapets in future grin if mere sound system can pull down pop, I imagine the kind of storm that can pull down precast parapet tongue

I saw a rain and breeze that blew on Monday along badagry express way that destroys house roofings and a newly roofed Gerrard. The breeze broke the middle of the roofing wood and destroyed everything thank God he did built-in parapet if not, all will fall with the roofing.

There are different opinion to this , if someone can afford to build a house worth over 50 million; I can assure you he or she can afford a parapet on it if they choose to . Some people choose to go for precast for different reasons, it give opportunity for different amazing design one can achieve with precast, secondly other opinion consider additional weight to the building due to the terrain.

You nailed it sir,
Most of oldest building in the world comes with precast concrete facial/ parapet

grin grin

To the naked eyes, most skyscrapers are built with concrete and not steel.

Precast is the future.

I’m contemplating a precast coping on my current build. I did one in my 1847 builds. I intend to improve the design this time around.
The cost of installing coping on flat roofs can do something more valuable in the house.

And guess what, bulk of the money goes into perishable items.

______
Pic 1 & 2 - 1847 precast coping
even you as a builder know which one is better. Don't let us beat around the bush and argue further

but I see failures in most building with precast parapet angry it's not about the design. What you cast together with you building is different from what was attached, it's clear to the eyes the one that will last long.
they are both cast together .have a look at both process..sturdy how it is done.there is a precast beam as well which the precast is tied to b4 concreat is poured unto the cast.

Sorry bro...this assumption is incorrect...below is 58 million kroner building under construction...all these walls(precast)in its entirety was done by a company called consolis 2 hours away and hauled by trucks to this site...you mean it won't last ?? Because it was attached??...majority of high rise building see on-going are precast...even most popular wooden building by eksjöhus in sweden är prefabricated in factory and joined at site

These are modular homes or prefab or what we are now calling precast. There is absolutely nothing wrong with prefab. Sometimes, prefab or modular build is a superior civil engineering design.

Dangote Refinary is a modular or prefab or precast design. Bet your money on it, it will be very much more effecient than NNPC, delivered at a far lower cost and cheaper to maintain in the long run. Parapet is not a structural membrane, so prefab (modular) should do just fine.

I predicted that. That is why I decided to spend 2020 on renovating a house. I found a great company that created a beautiful project for my present kitchen. For me, it is the main room where I spend a lot of time. Here is the company I cooperated with. As for other rooms, I deal with them by myself using catalogs and monitoring sales.

I totally I agree with the distinction you are getting at...was only trying to drive home a point about attachments wouldn't make a build less rigid or less good.

Precast...done in mold while prefabricated is as its name done and then installed later..

God bless you, people will just come out here and be saying what they don't know which is not a crime though but for them to be corrected will seem to them like you attacking them.

I even used those rollers for sliding wooden door on two sites last year in ogwashuku n asaba both in Delta State . the use is not limited to glazed doors only self

Some business lessons I learnt from building a house:

-Assemble the right team.

-Fire faster than you hire. If he doesn't fit in, let him go immediately. A trial is enough.

-Roll up your sleeves and enter the market. Know the prices or better still, buy the materials yourself.

-Be there. Monitor it yourself. It is difficult for people to reproduce exactly your idea or thoughts if you are not there to direct and supervise.

-Use the best quality in the market.

-Don't drag a bad work. Kill it at the early stages. If it is not good, stop it immediately.

What do you mean by the “frames n glasses are done here in Nigeria?” My question was are they manufactured by an aluminum and glass company in Nigeria?
Bros many of these things that people lied that are imported are made in Nigeria. There are many glass manufacturing company in Nigeria, I new one in kaduna since 1980 okay, so with POP powder, tiles, wc, pvc and many more. Matter of fact, am having conversation with someone last night about gas cylinders tubes, not knowing the company I worked for Technology Tools Engineering design them and manufacture them in another division along Apapa Oshodi express in Ilasa, called MIDGAS. I just don’t understand why people undermine capability of what Nigeria can and producing till date, I know for fact no one can deny the quality of Nigeria made cables, the are still one of the best in world till date. We’re the problem of ourselves. We will not patronize our product not until made in America is writing on it, while in fact the product is made in ABA.

mind you, those castings you see are not just an attachment but the building itself. no block here and there, all moulded from the ground to the roof.

Chief, if this is from Lagos the price is much ooo
But the Number 1 item (100mm pipe thick quoted for N2000 is too low , that is around 2500-3000 for thick type)

With the total amount I’m seen there, you can get far lesser from here.

In other news we just finished this hand railing installation is in progress
I like this job. The designs are closely knit and it screams beauty

You are right. I know MIDGAS. There is Delta glass and Curtis wire and cables. Many small ones that produce PVC pipes for electrical and plumbing.
Even plywood, there used to be SERRUMWOOD along MM Highway in Calabar. There used to be Union electric there too, they manufactured transformers.

It is well!
