mechanics say that at idle speed, 1000 rpm is the norm which i always argue with as i know very well that it is suppose to be around 750 to 800 RPM...

so after fixing my car recently...
i notice that my car started doing brake n quince.
my RPM was at 750 at the time..
mech says its because the RPM at idle was too low that i should increase it to 1000RPM.

so after increasing it..
i noticed its stable now but am still not comfortable with it....

pls i need advice..

How did he increase it, with screw driver right.

Guy it's wrong not to tell a rider before starting the trip cos they're paying for it except you forget to do so.

I make sure I tell you am starting the trip immediately you sit in the car whether my engine is running or not. Sometimes I do when am about to move, yet some will complain I've not moved why am I starting the trip and my response is the trip starts immediately you sat in the car.

Let me start with the bolded.

You should always tell the rider when starting the trip. In some cases, especially when they are seated at the front, I point at my phone as I inform them I'm starting the trip. In most cases they just say it's fine. In one case I experienced, the lady sat at the back and she said I didn't show her when I started the trip and I told her the notification is always sent on the app when the trip is started.

Personally, I don't feel it's a big deal telling the rider you are starting the trip as it's just to eliminate any feelings being defrauded or the likes. Some drivers would slide arrive without getting to pickup and by the time the driver gets to pickup, the rider is already waiting and your paid waiting is already on 5mins. Some drivers would even go on to start the trip before even picking up the rider.

Guys, if we are being honest with ourselves, all these are cases of fraud and it's wrong.

About two weeks ago, I picked up two ladies at Thomas Estate on a Friday night. They were going to Lekki and it was on surge. Before I started the trip, I showed the one sitting in front that I was starting the trip. Immediately I moved like 5m, the one seated behind said the person they were going to meet said there was heavy traffic everywhere so they should reschedule. She said they were no more going. I told her I've already started the trip. I ended it and it displayed N900. She was like ah an, we didn't even move! I turned to the one in front and asked her, "You saw when I started the trip, right?", she said she did. That quashed what would have been an argument of whether I started the trip before I came and all that, and I was paid.

Like I said, it's no big deal when you tell your riders you are starting the trip.

For taking permission before making calls, I wouldn't even bear the thought of a complete stranger listening in on my private conversations. Besides it's even wrong to make calls while driving because of distractions and all, that's why you would most likely be arrested while making a phone call while driving (even when in traffic) except of course you are using a handsfree device.

Bottom line is, we are in a service industry and as such, our aim should be to make our 'customers' as comfortable as possible because whether we like it or not, of there are no riders, there would be no drivers...
Thanks for the analysis bro esp on the issue of starting trip too, actually I forgot my airpod on that very day and it's not that I do ask every rider for permission. All this little little things that most drivers ignores also contributes to drivers ratings.
PS... It's been a while I've heard from Izzou, Jpworld and this guy wey come chop Madamradauto scanner

This is why drivers are where they are today because of the mumuric acts of some drivers that think the way they act is the right way when the app owners never instructed them to do so.

Now you hear that its normal to make cash transfer when actually saw that they could use their card on the app since they would be paying from their bank account not cash at hand. Some drivers caused this or is it the app companies that asked you to take cash transfer during your training?

People have made it look mandatory for drivers to inform a rider you are starting a trip when the rider's app NOTIFIES them right from the moment you accepted a trip, arrived at their location(Uber), started a trip and arrived at their destination.
So why the fuss about "you didn't tell me when you started the trip" when the app they have on their phone does that for them?

Guy be calming down.

The act might look stu.pid to you but to me it's not a big deal. Not everyone has the time to glue to their phone because they ordered a ride.

Some may be in a hurry, some don't even care when you start the trip. Sometimes I forget to start the trip maybe like 500m into the trip before I'll remember and I'll start the trip.

I had once forgot to start a trip almost half way the trip, the rider didn't ask if I had started it or not. Same way I had once mistakenly started the trip few minutes to PU rider still didn't know but I still had to inform the rider of the mistake for my conscience to be clear. So I don't think it's a big deal telling them.

Good name is better than that feel a rider will have of you wanting to defraud them.

I once gave a stranger a ride, rider doesn't know the place but I do. Rider was expecting trip to end around 6500 to 7500. Trip ended 4100 and rider was like wow! What happened?

Nothing much, just that I took a shorter route without traffic. Rider gave 6000.

You don't need to allow the attitude of some riders to change your personality.

Do you reject card trips ? In all my years of Ehailing I never paid into Uber or bolt account. I wonder how it happens. I know the system shuffle trips with cash and card to balance

U can drive a whole week without enough card trips to balance the commission. It happens.

Yesterday I picked up a rider from platinum road lekki to lekki phase 1, once at the destination he told me not to end the trip that ill tals him back, waited for like 3 mins, and we headed back, trip ended payment is 1k, he was shocked just as I was, he said when he ordered it was 800, that how come he's paying 1k for round trip, I didn't even know what to say, he just gave me 1500.

What could be the cause of that, any ideas?

Vehicle was unavailable a couple of days back and I had some runs to make. Checked bolt and it was a discount trip of N900 to destination and I guess N900 naira back.

Used public transport and I spent around N500 naira to and fro cool

Make we no lie, these riders are trying. Make we dey try treat the reasonable ones with respect. Many of us drivers would jump danfo without battling an eyelid if in their shoes grin

And this takes me back to an earlier post. I checked my trip history on bolt as a rider before I started driving and I noticed most of my trips were above N2000 naira. To bring that same money out to pay for bolt is a very big problem. grin

nothing to be shocked about, no base fare on the return trip, just normal distance per time readings.

As per drivers ratings, no one knows how far riders can go to rate u low, even if there's another rate worst more than 1 star, riders will use it on we drivers.
Ok I picked a lady around surulere, on our way going my phone keep ringing so I later asked for her permission if I can pick d call and she said yes, she nw asked me if riders doesn't allow drivers to pick calls, I said yes nw especially all this island girls, she nw said some drivers worst o, that they'll keep making long calls while driving Nd riders dare not talk but after d end of d trip they'll give d driver 1star with very bad review.
She also said she first look at my face Wen I reach d PU that I wasn't smiling and that already give a bad impression already before she later knows I'm nice and jovial...
She gisted me about how she show a driver pepper while driving her to her house and d driver said he can't go further cos d road in their area is very bad and his his car is low, she said she told d driver that's not her fault, all drivers knows Nigeria roads are bad, that he shld hv raise his car before he join d platform... After alot of dragging The driver sha manage to go front a little to like 4 houses before her house and because of this she rate d driver so low, reported him, send his num to her friends to report him as well... U can imagine how far she went to block the driver frm his career. I just pity the man, and riders that do this d most are ladies btw 16-25 years (my observation). What I'm saying in essence is that u can't please a rider 100%, jst do ur best and leave the rest.

The distance for the return trip wasn't calculated in the fare. Only the distance to d place and the total time of the trip was calculated. Update the App, or Upgrade ur phone. Bolt has improved greatly, those things no dey happen again.
