Idiko1: People like you only serve as sl*ves to the Ijaw nation, because you don't qualify to be an Ijaw sl*ve, If not for changes I would have shipped you off from one of my 'fishermen' ports in Abonnema, Ataba, Akassa, Bille, Bonny,Brass, Okrika, or Opobo. It is no brainer to you because you have no brain! 1 Like |

SunTzu123:That is the mainn reason he shouldn't be leading a battalion. A Major leads a specialized unit in a Battalion or as Executive Officer but not commanding a Battalion. He is the lowest field officer and just few years above a Captain. A Battalion is made of up at least 3 Companies and a specialized formation for waging warfare. Even if they want to command a Battalion with a Major, it shouldn't be a Special Force. Na dude has killed himself and his troops. |

My only concern be say some intelligent individuals go still dey rush to join the military. If you love urself, find work go somewhere else, not the Nigerian military. The only way u can serve ur country as a patriot is to make ur parents eat the fruit of them labour on you, not to die like a rodent for a country that has nothing to offer u. When are they gonna delete the service chiefs? Ogun kill all of Una. 1 Like |

samonak:You mean a Major commanding a specialized battalion? There is nothing wrong with a Brig. Gen commanding a Division. A Brig. Gen is a commissioned officer in the General Officer Cadre. I don't see any wisdom in putting a Major in command of a specialized battalion. |

The military needs an urgent and total overhauling of all its personnel. The bulk of the current numbers of both officers and soldiers must be shown the way out to sanitize the system and rid it of saboteurs. Boko haram guys have successfully infiltrated our military and their tentacles are well spread in the current set up. The entire security architecture of Nigeria must be rejigged ,redesigned and reorganized for our military to be able to win the war against the insurgents . We need to do something about our borders up north. The era of foreigners, who have cultural affiliations with our fulani/hausa people, crossing over into our country unrestricted and suddenly claiming to be Nigerians must come to an end ! 1 Like |

EzeNri: Don't be ignorant. Rank is not prove of competence. Some colonels commanded brigades during world war 2 and they were exceptional. By the way a lieutenant colonel can also command a battalion or a company. It all depends on the national army or command structure |

PHijo: Adaka Boro has led you guys right! He paid with his worthless life as his "friends" turned around and gunned him down. Please, please don't come here coming to cry, and then go to another page to recite totally false Ijaw narrative. Enjoy your one Nigeria. More loses coming your buddy, while Fulani soldiers safely posted to the south remain rich and fat while sapping juice from you. 1 Like 1 Share |

airsaylongcome:A Company is the smallest tactical unit of the Army. It is led by a Captain. A Company is made up of at least 3 Platoons. At least 9 soldiers make up a Platoon. A Platoon is led a LT and it is the smallest unit led by a commissioned officer. At least 70 soldiers makes up a Company. A Battalion is made up of at least 3 companies. It is a tactical unit and its capable of existing on its one though with limitations, because it can run its administration, operations, intelligence and others. It is commanded by a Lt Col, a Major is the XO (Executive Officer), a Major is also heads operations. If Camerounian military attacks our Eastern border, the closest battalion will be the first response to that aggression. Battalion can wage a limited scale warfare without needing support from a Brigade. A Brigade must have at least one support company while others might be organized to perform mission critical operations. A battalion carries limited ammunition and must have a source for resupply. It is the smallest military formation capable of independent military operations but those operations are limited by a lot of things a Brigade addresses. Because a Battalion can sustain hostilities for a limited period, it will need a Brigade to effectively wage war against Cameroun. When a Battalion is waging war with other sub-units from a other formations, it is known as a Battle Group and Lt Colonel or Colonel commands the group. A Brigade is typically commanded by a Colonel or Brigadier General and it is made up of at least 3 Battalions and other supporting units. A Division is a military unit capable of independent warfare within its AOR. It can wage a war on its own because it has every unit capable of helping do that. In countries like the USA, a Division CO receives combatant instruction directly from the President, not the CoAS. |

eagleu: There are more Igbo casualties in this Bokoharam thing than there would ever be amongst the Ijaw. Late major Adaka Boro is celebrated by our people because of the value we place on the sacrifices of Boro. If not for the sacrifices of people like Boro the Igbo would have succeeded in their attempt to steal Ijawland. If anyone is crying it is Nnamdi Kanu not me. You that after Fulani herders kill your people your governors either reward them with cash gifts or go to Abuja and cry. It is your Igbo stupidity that made the Fulani herders to be this brazen. |

It is about time Nigerian military had started to use drones and other technological gadgets and machines to carry out surveillance of say 200 square miles of their camps, roads and, or places of interest. For God sake, we cannot continue to lose our best warriors. The boko haram people are not supposed to pick bounty on our gallant soldiers like this. R.I.P. to the dead |
