Gunmen suspected to be bandits on Sunday night kidnapped two female students of the Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ayetoro Campus, Ayetoro, Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun State. Vanguard reliably gathered that the incident occurred at about 9 pm on Sunday, when the suspected bandits stormed Igbole Aibo Quarter area of Ayetoro, shooting sporadically. Residents, who spoke with Vanguard under the condition of anonymity, said the gunmen, captured and abducted the two students who were said to be returning home at the time. The abducted female students have been identified as Adeyemo Oluwaseun Precious (300 level Forestry and Wildlife Management) and Oyefule Oluwatosin Abisola (300 level, Agricultural Economics). It was further gathered that the suspected bandits targeted a female call card voucher bulk dealer living in the area. But due to their failure to break through the gate to her house, which they had attacked, they resorted to abducting the two female varsity students, who were returning from an outing. “Being unable to gain access, they started shooting sporadically to create fear, and it was at this point Seun and Tosin were returning home, which is the same house the calling card dealer lives near Igbole Aibo Community Primary School, Aibo Quarter, Ayetoro, Ogun State,” a resident said. Confirming the incident, the Deputy Registrar, Corporate Affairs Unit, of the institution, Mr Niyi Oduwole, described it as unfortunate. Oduwole said that the university management is on top of the situation in ensuring the safe return of the abductees. He said,” the incident is most unfortunate. The university is beefing up security around all our campuses and hostels. “We sympathise with parents of the victims and we want to assure them that their wards will be rescued unhurt. We are on top of the situation.” Efforts made to confirm the incident from the police spokesperson, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi was not successful as calls made to his mobile phone were not picked. https://www.vanguardngr.com/2021/03/gunmen-kidnap-two-female-students-in-ogun/ The Fulani heardsmen in yewa land are overrunning almost everywhere in yewa land. No fewer than seven persons were killed, weekend, in Osun and Ekiti states by gunmen suspected to be bandit Among the victims was a family of six reportedly killed when the gunmen stormed a farming settlement in Wasinmi village, Irewole local government area of Osun State, while the other was a passenger hit by stray bullets, as the gunmen fired at a moving commercial vehicle in Ekiti State. Policemen, men of the Oodua Peoples Congress, OPC, and Hunters Group of Nigeria were said to have been deployed in the bush in the area to fish out the killers. Confirming the Osun attack, yesterday, in Osogbo, the state’s Commissioner of Police, Olawale Olokode, who spoke through his Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Yemisi Opalola, said the incident happened late Saturday night. Olokode, who noted that police had commenced investigation into the incident, said the perpetrators of the evil act would be brought to justice. The CP also disclosed that he had moved to the village with detectives to hunt down the perpetrators of the act. He, however, said preliminary investigation ruled out a possible farmers/herders clash, adding that apart from launching manhunt for the suspects, police had begun discreet investigation into the circumstances behind the killings. The CP appealed to the people of the state, particularly residents of Ikire and its environs not to panic but collaborate with the Police by giving timely information that would assist in arresting the culprits. He described the incident as unfortunate and vowed that the police would apprehend the culprits to face the law. In another attack in Ekiti State, a passenger was reportedly killed as gunmen shot at a commercial vehicle in transit between Ikere Ekiti and Iju, a border town in Ondo State. The Ekiti PPRO, Sunday Abutu, who confirmed the incident, yesterday, said that the driver of the commercial bus and the passengers ran to a police station in Ikere Ekiti and reported that while they were on their way from Ondo State, the gunmen came out of the bush and started shooting. The driver was said to have increased his speed to escape the attack but unfortunately, a passenger was hit by a bullet in the process and later died at Ikere General Hospital. While calling for calm, the state Commissioner of Police, Tunde Mobayo, assured that the command in the two states would collaborate effectively to nab the perpetrators. The commissioner had earlier in the week, held a town hall security meeting with communities across the state. Meanwhile, the commander of Ondo State Security outfit, codenamed Amotekun, Adetunji Adeleye, has urged governments to remove limitations to the crime bursting responsibility of the corps in the region by allowing it carry sophisticated weapons. Adeleye, who made the plea, weekend, said criminals were at advantage over security agents in terms of weapons in the South-West. Speaking in Akure, the commander said the agencies needed encouragement from government to be able to rid the states of the activities of criminally-minded elements. “The agencies are looking forward to acquiring more state-of-the-art equipment to combat insecurity in the states. There’s need to procure modern equipment to confront criminals. “Amotekun is doing well in terms of remuneration of officers and payment of salary but calls for more government support. “The state governor has just approved the recruitment of additional personnel and in terms of personnel, we are okay. “Though, we in Ondo State have equipment but we are asking for more funding, so we can buy state- of-the-art additional equipment to combat crimes in the state. “The collaboration with other security agencies has been yielding results through the knowledge and familiarity of the terrain by Amotekun officials who understand their own environment. Other security agencies must step in to secure the country. The Amotekun Corps are making sacrifices and they are ready to work with the armed forces.” https://www.vanguardngr.com/2021/03/gunmen-kill-family-of-6-in-osun-one-other-in-ekiti/ |

Whyem15:It was not clear where the National President was heading, but the photographs show he was moving within a town as his convoy of about three SUVs appeared to be moving alongside some yellow tricycles and guarded by a police escort. There were mixed reactions on Monday from Nigerians when photographs of the National President of the Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore surfaced on the internet, showing he uses police escorts and Toyota Sport Utility Vehicles. It was not clear where the National President was heading, but the photographs show he was moving within a town as his convoy of about three SUVs appeared to be moving alongside some yellow tricycles and guarded by a police escort. Some Nigerians described the Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore president’s convoy as expensive, saying such glamour shows the flamboyant lifestyle herdsmen currently live. For instance, @EjioforOnyishi on Twitter said, "This can only be possible in (Muhammadu) Buhari regime, very unfortunate." @Isi_Miyake5 said, "They’re the first-class citizens of the country. What do you expect? Their Big bro dey Aso Rock." @tammynator2 tweeted: "I'm an advocate for 'The best candidate should rule'. But, the mistake this country will make is to make another Northerner president after this failure in Aso Rock. We need a Southerner to correct some anomalies and cut back the boldness of these northern folks." @akunnenonso said," Just imagine the mopol (mobile police) escorting him. Chai. Animal country." George Gamboh (@MRgarmbo) said, "Insolence of the highest order." Justinkaycee (@JustinKayceee) said, "I said it long time ago that Miyetti Allah is the fourth arm of the Nigerian government under @MBuhari administration." Some other Nigerians who commented, however, believed that the Miyetti Allah President did not do anything unusual. For instance, @larucheebam said, "But militants sef de carry police escorts and all for Niger Delta. Militants, National Union bosses dey do all this for SS/SW and don’t see a problem with it." Son of the Most High God (@adeh_21) said, "Who no get sense no go still get sense. Abeg, long may their business flourish ooo. Up cows." http://saharareporters.com/2021/03/15/nigerians-react-miyetti-allah-president-uses-convoy-flashy-suv-police-escorts All this insecurity issue will end the day we Nigerians are ready to embrace the truth. A country where a terrorist was arrested, but he was treated like a king, and the people that arrested the terrorists were thrown in jail. 2 Likes

Herdsmen renaming Benue seized IDPs’ communities – US-based Nigerians A member of the House of Representatives, Mark Gbillah, has criticised the Deputy Speaker, Ahmed Wase, for blocking a petition by members of his constituency based in the United States of America. He said what the presiding officer did was against the Standing Orders of the House. This was just as the Mutual Union of Tiv in America whose petition was blocked by Wase alleged that herdsmen were taking over and renaming their ancestral land abandoned by Tiv people in parts of Benue, Taraba and Nasarawa states due to herders-farmers clashes. Gbillah, who is representing Gwer-East/Gwer-West Federal Constituency in Benue State, had at the plenary on Wednesday, moved to lay the petition by MUTA. But Wase, who presided over the session prevented Gbillah from laying the petition, claiming that the House does not entertain petitions from outside the country. Wase had asked the Benue lawmaker if MUTA was registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission. According to Gbillah, who faulted the Deputy Speaker, the Constitution gives Nigerians the freedom of association, and that the House has committees that handle issues relating to foreign affairs and the Diaspora. Our correspondent obtained a copy of the petition on Sunday, dated February 15, 2021, and signed by President of MUTA, Mr Simon Kusugh; and Chairman IDP Committee, MUTA, Prof. Joseph Zume. It was titled, ‘A petition against the Federal Republic of Nigeria led by President Muhammadu Buhari.’ The petition read in part, “The continued neglect/abandonment of hundreds of thousands of Tiv families in IDP camps across Benue, Nasarawa and Taraba states has become, not only embarrassing, but also a disgrace to the entire Tiv race worldwide. The time to end the assault on the peace-loving Tiv people of Nigeria is now. MUTA alleged that since 2013, “armed Fulani herdsmen have repeatedly wreaked havoc on communities in 20 of the 23 local government areas of Benue State, massacring thousands of people, destroying communities and, often, totally obliterating economic and cultural assets.” Consequently, the association said “hundreds of thousands” of displaced families now occupy 27 IDPs’ camps across the state, with many more cohabiting with relatives in unpalatable conditions. The group further said, “More depressing is that large swaths of the lands vacated by the victims have been occupied by their violators. In Kwande LGA, for example, the communities of Moon have lost their lands to armed herders who now graze their cows freely on those lands while the real owners languish in IDP camps.” Speaking to our correspondent on Sunday, Gbillah said the action by Wase was “out of line” as the Standing Rules of the House did not set the conditions for which the Deputy Speaker dismissed the petition. https://punchng.com/herdsmen-renaming-benue-seized-idps-communities-us-based-nigerians/?amp=1&utm_term=Autofeed&utm_medium=Social&utm_source=Twitter&__twitter_impression=true Instead of the tivs to create an armed group like ESN. Their main objective will be to kill every Fulani and their cows on tiv land in Benue, Taraba and Nassarawa. The Fulanis are also trying to do this nonsense in the south west, I promise you idiots, it will end badly for you parasites. 2 Likes |
