Bombzy: If it's Reliability & Longetivity - CAT is the best but maintenance is high when it comes to buying original filters, except you have a contract with mantrac to be maintaining your gen set.... Mikano is great also, parts are cheap and easy to maintain |

Good day House. I have an Elepaq SV2200 which I must admit has been abused by my wife. It has been in use in the open come rain come sunshine for about 2yrs now. I just returned and found out it blows heavy smoke for like 2mins after start up and sound is extremely high. Engine oil completely dries up after an average of 13hrs of usage and will have to be refilled. Please what should I expect to change to bring this gen back to optimum state. Thanks |

Kingdemu: I would have said you change only the rings, but for fully efficiency, do a complete over hauling on that engine and get a maximum output. |

Kingdemu: A complete overhaul entails, opening the engine, checking if there is clearance between the crankshaft and the connecting rod (2) checking the engine bearings (3). Changing the rings and grinding the valve of the top (4) changing of oil. Its a total checkup on the engine. Won't cost you much if you are around my shop at Port Harcourt. |

Re: Professor On Any Type Of Generator. by Kingdemu: 8:37pm On Mar 18, 2021 |
zhukafa:Too bad I'm up North Edit: Sir what will make a generator give normal power output for like 10secs after startup and then power output goes out?. The meter indicating the voltage will just be flat. And when I switch it off and restart the generator, the meter will rise to indicate normal reading and there will be output for 5secs then it will go flat. |

How much to fix piston and rims in generator |
Re: Professor On Any Type Of Generator. by zhukafa(m): 7:34am On Mar 19, 2021 |
Kingdemu: 2 things can cause that. (1). The AVR of your generator is bad. (2) The Armature coil of the said generator is faulty. They are the two basic errors to look out for in such case. |
Re: Professor On Any Type Of Generator. by zhukafa(m): 7:36am On Mar 19, 2021 |
Agparis100: It varies from the size of generator and also the area which you are and whom is involved in the job. |

Kingdemu: Same issue I had with my elepaq 1800 after leaving it in the rain for 18 months, the black smoke will soon choke the engine because it will cover the engine block and exhaust manifold and will refuse to start. Plan to buy new generator. I had the same problem and after repairs, I ringed it, since then the gen has not been itself, later the coil was affected. Find a way to repair it, go to yaba and sell to second hand sellers. Once the coil has been worked on, those second hand sellers will know and won't buy from you. I don't recommend ringing any engine. It's either you manage your oil shortage or leave it. The money you'll spend ringing it will not be financially proportional to the number of times you'll use it before other issues crop up. Same with car, never ring a car engine! 1 Like |

Been long I came here. I don't think those elepaq '4.5'kva gen they sell in jumia are good. First they are not 4.5, just 2.5kva. The guys at Blenco Supermarket showed me the differences. Secondly the image is not clear enough to know if they're original. I went to alaba last month and original is from 120k, at ebute meta, it's from 120-125k You need to physically see the gen you are buying. Don't buy those short coil types, buy the long coil and make sure elapaq or constant is inscribed(not pasted o) on the fuel tank, engine block and other places. The jumia advert does not show a these 2 Likes |

Chuwaa2: Good day, I want to get a generator that could power my pumping machine, fridge, tv and a number of bulbs and basic appliances. Which one do you recommend that’s really good and fuel efficient. I’m just coming from Jumia’s site now and I saw this gen you are taking of, it’s a good thing I came here first . I would appreciate a response. Advice from other people is also welcomed . Thank you |
Re: Professor On Any Type Of Generator. by Chuwaa2: 7:34am On Mar 21, 2021 |
Dracoe: I believe these will not be on at the same time. I can't really say how efficient most generators are. I was using Elepaq 1800 before and the fuel efficiency was superb. 5.5 liters or full tank lasts for 12hrs, but I upgraded to a genuine elepaq, 4.5kwA or 3.5kva and it does carries all the stated stuff above. I even mistakenly left on my standing fridge and big deep freezer mistakenly overnight and everything worked well. The fuel tank is 15l and lasts for about 16-18hrs. I have always admired Firman but its more expensive than Elepaq. Just as haier thermocool is more expensive and Honda even more expensive. Maintenance is all that matters. Also don't just change over when all these are on, instead put all of them off and after you put on the gen, gradually switch on the items. It stresses the generator less. If I hadn't exposed my 1800 elepaq (1.5kw running watt and 1.8kw maximum/starting watt) to rain and sun, it wouldn't have spoiled. It served me from 2018 to 2020 before it started having issues. I bought it on Jumia and it wasn't original. No crested logo anywhere, just stickers. Who knows if the original would have survived 'my abuse' In all I think you need from 2.8KVA to 3.5KVA and the coil must be long. Note KVA is different from KW. See the following How To Size A Generator The basic generator sizing formula goes like this: Form a list of all items that will be powered. Determine the starting wattage (energy needed to turn it on) and running wattage (energy needed to operate it) for each piece of equipment. These figures are typically inscribed somewhere on the equipment itself, as well as recorded in the owner’s manual. Calculate your total power requirement by adding up these kW or KVA figures. Once you know the estimated wattage needed, the generator size is easier to choose. Whatever number you come up with, choose a generator with a capacity that’s 10-20% larger than your requirement. 1 Like

Chuwaa2: Thanks a lot for the explanation. I would definitely take all this into consideration. I don’t have much appliances , the main thing is the pumping machine, refrigerator and two Tvs a 50 and 32 inch and a pressing iron.. rest are bulbs. I checked this out on Jumia, and I feel it should be okay, do you have a contrary opinion? I wouldn’t be getting on Jumia although . The first is a firman about 147k and the second haier thermocool about 175k. I’m also takin cost into consideration also

Dracoe:This Firman is around 2.2-2.5kva while the TEC is 3.5kva. In stores both will be cheaper and it will be more difficult to get an original Firman. |

Hello everyone. Good day! My lady wants to get a generator, so I wanted to know what the best brand/model would be to power a: -Single-door refrigerator -Mist fan -About three bulbs -Laptop and phone chargers Would a 2.5KVA generator be alright for these? It'd be best if the generator is durable and fuel-efficient, with a budget between 100,000 and 150,000. Thank you, I appreciate any help! |

Daniel2802:You can detect a fake Sumec Firman by identifying Firman engraved on eight parts of the Generator. Also, why not go for the newly upgraded SPG1800 Pro Max my neighbor just got it and it's really serving her well. I heard it's very strong and it can power the 1.1 and 1.6 HP Firman Gen Smart Cool Inverter AC which was just introduced to the market.
