Don't just compare dollar exchange rates.Look at comparative earnings and comparative cost of goods and services.
The person earning $3000 per month abroad,yes has a higher standard of living,but comparatively spends the same average percentage of his salary on bills and living cost with the ₦100-₦150k salary earner here.
The major difference is the vastly improved standard of living,services and life over there,not necessarily the earnings per person.
Cost of say gala abroad is about $0.5= ₦250-₦300/one.Here it is ₦50!

to be a man in lagos is not easy. so many people are going through rough time. imagine leaving home as early as 4-5am just to beat traffic, and u left work around 5-6pm, and some people gets home as late as 11pm. just imagine this as a daily routine. half of lagosians are working just to eat/transport and pay rents. most of us dont have spare cash/savings. nobody shud argue with me please. we are all entitled to our opinions

If your analogy is true, let's say someone earning $3k abroad and the one earning ₦150k here both have 25% of their pay left after paying bills:

Abroad: 25% of $3k = $750 x 450 = N337,000 (using 450:1 as exchange rate)
Nigeria: 25% of ₦150k = ₦37,500

The person abroad can save some money over there and still afford to send $200 or more to his bank account in Nigeria (₦90,000), on top better living condition and environment. Let's not even go into the debate of how many people earn up to ₦150k a month or even half of that in most neighbourhoods in Nigeria.

Lagos is the most stressful City in the world.

The American dream just like the Lagos dream is not easy.
You have to be asleep to dream it.

After working a few years you just get tired and exhausted of the polluted city and the amount of stress it takes on you.

Long hours sitting in traffic, poor public transport and the quality of life isn't just it anymore. A lot of people have learnt a new hack work a few years and go back to a much cheaper city to live happily ever after.
