Yes the stadium is being build in phases, This is the first phase and it's very cool with nice pitch hybrid grass, underground cooling system, changing room, average pavilion and others

I pray the next administration will expand it to more than 50,000 capacity, because it will change the landscape and skyline of Awka City

Even as soon as next governor comes in build stadia of 20,000. Nigeria should put in a bid for next nations cup and Anambra make sure our venue is selected by NFF. It will also open us up to Africa and rest of the world. We need to start thinking strategic and how to advance. The next governor needs a handfull of advisers who are lethal not 100s of special advisers who dont know shit but to eat and drink.

I hate synthetic turf. Why can they maintain natural grass ?

Yes, but i have noticed that all natural grass stadia in Nigeria barely water the grass and they end up with huge open patches on the pitch. FIFA has approved use of synthetic pitches for FIFA events. I think 2 or 3 stadia used for the 2010 South African world cup were synthetic pitches.

China railway Beijing construction company is handling the terminal building.

They will include more than 4 jet bridges/ gates, because the apron is big enough and can comfortably accommodate 8 Boeing 747 aircraft

Let's applaud Obiano’s mediocre efforts but temper our enthusiasm.

How can a 3,000 sqm terminal building have 4 jet bridges or gates?

Again this is a mini terminal good for domestic flights. This are the sizes of international terminals in Nigeria :

MMIA - 48,000 Sqm with 8 bridges

Nnamdi Azikiwe Abuja - 48,000 sqm with 8 bridges

Port Harcourt - 28,000 sqm with 4 bridges

The new Enugu terminal being built by CEEC is roughly 25, 000 sqm with 4 bridges.

Synthetic pitches pose a serious injury risk to players. What could be so hard with maintaining a simple grassed pitch. Is it expensive or what , I am at lost to why this keep happening.

I have already done this math when i first saw the tower and counted about 8 window-like openings on it that is used for ventilation. He is counting the position of those windows as "floors" and they are not exactly aligned at floor levels. Besides, the staircase inside towers are usually spiral in most towers.

That is why the height of control towers are universally measured in meters or feet to avoid confusion about the height. This tower is 34.5 meters.

Let us do simple mathematics here for people that didn't eat their school fees. grin
Any architect will tell you the normal height of one floor in a building is 10 feet (3.05 meters). The structure measures 34.5 meters which is 11.32 floors. Thus, the commentator was right to describe the height of the tower as about 12 floors to put the height in lay man's context. If he said 34.5 meters or 113.2 feet, nobody except engineers and architects can know we are talking about a structure which will be exactly the same height as a 12 floors building.

Only in Europe, Australian, America do major international airports have such high control towers. Most African and Asian countries have towers less than 20 meters because they only use steel rods for pillars within the structure and use blocks to build the rest. So making it higher than 20 meters will risk collapse of the structure. I am glad Obiano was thinking about the future here and did not try to cut costs. Lets hope Umahi does an equally high international standard tower. For me i'm just glad that our region that was denied aviation facilities to stiffle our economic growth will eventually have international standard airports everywhere.

This terminal is 3,000 sqm in size. How do I know? I am an engineer and have checked the spans of the steel beams.

Everything will be ready soon? The building is not 50% complete. Navigational aids? FAAN approval? This airport is not going to be ready before 2022 at the earliest and most likely 2023.

Mini stadium is more than 3 months late and clearly will not be ready before September.

ICC will not be ready before 2022.

The Conference Center is far more important than a stadia. It brings in professionals and investors which Anambra needs most. It will allow Anambra to host proper regional trade shows, national conferences, etc. The only problem with ANSG is they wasted time building an edifice instead of a functional building.

Akwa Ibom built a Munich style stadium that has been used less than 15 times in the past 8 years for national matches. It hasn't put Uyo on the map.

The FIFA goal project is good for development and ANSG should develop the site into a sports center and put other facilities in that land space for youth training and games.

I just saw that witch hanging around and watching the thread in severe pains! cheesy

Since Mystery Shopper has already posted the pictures on this page to torment him, I will just post more of the terminal that seems to be the new thing giving him heartburn.

He started with lamentations on the runway, saying it was too short. Then he went to the tower, now he is at the terminal.

Soon he will be talking about our ILS Category 2, night landing lights, top notch navigational equipment, beautiful bluish-tint glass tidings all over the terminal building and the control tower. Then he will switch to the parking lot, water supply systems, Covid compliant toilets and air dryers in the bathrooms, at least 2 INNOSON fire trucks, generator house, airport gate house, aero bridges and general exquisitely beautiful inside of the terminal building itself.

Then he will complain when we begin landscaping with flowers and trees along the airport entrance roads to the parking lot , and grassing the open areas around the runway and taxiways. I am truly concerned about his mental health because he will soon be complaining out loud in his dreams as this airport becomes one of the best in Africa.

This midget airport will give who nightmares grin

I dey laugh at all the pathetic hyping.

Stella Oduah Ada Anambra did the right thing and started a massive terminal in Enugu. 25,000 Sqm for international flights to serve the region . All SE governors were there in support. That makes sense not this pathetic attempt at an airport.

Enugu is 1-2 hours from everywhere important in alaigbo. A thinking governor would have keyed into that and channeled the billions being spent on this white elephant to build proper roads in Awka, Nnewi and Onitsha. 30 billion will get you at least 100 solid roads. Modernize these cities. There is no single Anambra city that has the planning of Enugu with its wide avenues and serenity. Onitsha chaos, Awka non existent roads, Nnewi, erosion and village look.

Anyways time will tell. Let's compare umueri midget terminal to Akanu Ibiam terminal built by FGN.

The solid part but funniest is that Anambra is the only State that builds Airport for there indigines and Anambra state,
Enugu airport was built for Anambra state and SE
Imo Airport built for Abia state and Anambra state
Asaba airport was built for Anambra state (Onitsha and Nnewi)
Ebonyi is building for Benue state, ogoja, ikom, abịa north

But Anambra is building there airport not for kogi people, or those in oji river, ụzọ uwani, ezeagu etc of Enugu but to boost the economic activities in Anambra State, to revolunize trade and commerce in Anambra, for economic nerve of Anambra ( Onitsha, Awka, Nnewi, Ekwulọbịa, Ihiala and other towns) and also to help our people who love traveling for business or other things and those in diaspora. alot of things that will help air travellers in Anambra

Stop thinking like a villager. The airspace has no boundary. An airport serves people across boundaries. You don't need 5 airports in a 200 km radius which is what you see with Asaba, Owerri, Enugu, Umuleri and Abakaliki. It's pure stupidity. How many people will use it? Nowhere apart from countries with massive economies do you see multiple airports in a small area.

Governance is about channeling your funds to areas of greatest impact. We DON'T need another airport. It is common sense and I continue to marvel at the stupidity of this government.

As for the hogwash about the airport boosting commerce, Anambrarians already use Owerri, Asaba and Enugu. The major game changer was the new international terminal in Enugu which was a pre requisite for handling more flights from the likes of Emirates, KLM, etc

International Conference Center – ICC, AWKA

The International Conference Center – ICC, was born out of the vision of His Excellency Chief (Dr.) Willie M. Obiano, in his zeal for accelerated infrastructure provisions across the Anambra State. The urban design task of the ICC - was to create an instantly recognizable landmark – an iconic structure - at the terminal point of the future extension of the Awka Millennium City axis. Thus, the ICC aims to represent the city’s vision of itself as a cosmopolitan city with excellent infrastructure. In other words, the new complex will not – as usual – simply occupy public space, but rather act as a basis for a new urban story, changing of ideas and for the construction of a prosperous future – legacy project.

The Concept Model of the ICC

The design is of ultra-modern international standards with a minimum seating capacity of 10,000 persons. The structure is to be provided with all the facilities and equipment necessary for international conferences, private parties, civic activities, and also would be capable of catering to many other functions such as indoor sports.
The programs contained in the complex include, but not limited to, covered drop-off area, a grand entrance foyer with atrium space, sub-dividable grand auditorium/ballroom - arena, an exhibition hall/museum, meeting rooms, green room, storage spaces, restrooms and associated spaces. Included within the exhibition hall will be a workshop/seminar area for professionals that will be used periodically throughout the year.

Features
In general, the International Conference Center – ICC - project involves a design of a state-of-the-art International Conference Center with the following features:

The site measuring 9 Ha is in the state capital- Awka Capital Territory - and lies along 2 major roads connecting Onitsha and Enugu;

The protocol access and the executive parking area, service access, truck delivery and waste disposal route is located at the tail end of the site, thus freeing the front driveway to the entrances from transit traffic. The side main entrance from the ‘Old Road’ extends to a road on the opposite side, along the high tension line corresponding to the future developments, including the connection to the future ancillary 5-Star Hotel.

The structure is iconic and is strategically sited. It is anchored in the mental landscape of the population and the international community, neighboring other notable developments and facilities such as the Awka Millennium City Estate, Prof, Dora Akunyili Women Development Center and Stanel World;

The parking lot is nestled in center of manicured greenery and has capacity to accommodate over 1,200 vehicles;

The exhibition hall and the main space – grand auditorium/ballroom - will be divided by movable partitions. Meeting rooms may also be made flexible by use of movable partitions to accommodate various number of persons in given groups

Circulation and service -all mechanical/HVAC /electrical/IT service are to meet any code required fire safety and egress of the structure will be analyzed in conjunction with the designated programs;

The proposed workshop/seminar facility for Professionals may occupy one area of the exhibition hall.

The Benefits of the ICC

The benefits of the International Conference Center – ICC - to Ndi-Anambra is immeasurable. There will be civic pride, hundreds of direct and indirect jobs created, international exposure/recognition and immense increase in the State’s IGR. The essence of the International Conference Center – ICC, Awka is highly underscored by the imminent availability of the Anambra State International Airport, the Second Niger Bridge and the dredging of the Onitsha Seaport for vibrant seaport operations in Anambra State.

The Anambra International Airport, is governor Willie Obiano biggest legacy in Anambra State in concept and execution the airport reflects the ambition, taste, style and attention to detail of governor obiano.
It was designed to mark the specifications of modern airport across the world, it has the second longest runway in the country, it has all the facilities for a 24hours operations, being fully equipped with the necessary navigation or aid and instruments for night landing.
The airport is a monument to the relentless spirit of ndị Anambra and there intrinsic aspirations to conquer the world.

Not withstanding the testimonies of top government officials, i was more interested in the testimonies of the common Anambra workers (From 51:30)

Indeed, how many Southeast governors will their workers eulogize as paying them salaries regularly for the entire period they were governor? How many governors in oil rich Soutsouth states can their workers say this about them?

I have noticed that those online touts trying in vain to tarnish the name of Obiano are indeed foreigners and non-Anambra people. My guess why they embark on such negative behavior is as good as yours. They are jealous of Anambra's progress from arguably the worst state in Nigeria about 15 years ago, to about the best and most progressive state in Nigeria today. On top of it, they deeply 'hate" Anambra people as some of them have already explicitly stated here. So it should not surprise anyone why they gather to mock the airport in Anambra as "Audio project", but praise the one in Abakaliki that has not even done a control tower talk more the stone base of the runway as an authentic project!

That is why Anambra doctors are denied housemanship position in Federal Teaching Hospital Abakaliki, but Ebonyi doctors are even Head of Departments at NAUTH, Nnewi and COOUTH, Awka. Not to mention many Ebonyi house officers, nurses and janitors working in both hospitals. Yet, Anambra people are bluntly told they cannot be employed at any level in a hospital in Ebonyi state! You pipul see all these discriminations happening in Ebonyi state, and you justify it instead of condemning it. However, if Anambra has a public policy that no Ebonyi person will ever be a civil servant in Anambra or teach in any Anambra school, you all will say its wicked. But, you won't find your voice when Ebonyi enforces these wicked state-backed policies against Anambra people living in Ebonyi.

I guess I'm particularly sensitive about this issue because I was severally denied a job at Ebonyi state University Teaching hospital, Abakaliki before I finally traveled abroad. For 2 and half years, I couldn't get any internship in any of these Southeast state teaching hospitals without going to Abuja to get Minister's letter or paying heavy bribes! After the third interview, a family friend took me to the EBSUTH CMAC's house in Abakaliki and he told us point blank that even if he took my "gifts" and added my name, it would still be struck off the list because I was from Anambra! Mind you this isn't even a permanent job, its simply 12 months housemanship!!
I was thankful he didn't take my "bribe" money and was very candid with me how things were, but it was such a painful experience for me then. So i can imagine what medical graduates still go through just because of their state of origin! After all these years in America, I was never subjected to such blatant discrimination. Even as a foreigner! That is why I intensely hate Nigeria, and i fear these evil practices Igbos have already learnt from being in Nigeria will not be brought into a new nation. God forbid we have such evil discrimination against fellow citizens in Biafra!
When people like you who should be epitome of emulation can go to any length to lie against Ebonyi State and her citizens, then it calls for a serious concern. Why are you people so economical with the truth? Your people are the ones who always insult us here and in other platforms, yet you all will keep mute and be happy with such rude act against a sister state. Oh, we should clap and cheer your people anytime they call us Igbo-Fulanis, 2nd class Igbos, poor and backward people and all those unprintable names right? You've failed! The story you narrated here is not synonymous with Ebonyi alone, its obtainable in every state, and you can possibly pass through such unfortunate situation even in your own home state of Anambra, so why are you using it as a yardstick to present Ebonyi in such a bad manner, or are you no more the supposedly Igbo unity promoter we used to know here? Oh, you've forgotten that an Anambra man is still serving his second tenure as a commissioner in Ebonyi State, a wife of Anambra man serving her second term as a local government chairman in the same Ebonyi including uncountable number of Anambra indigenes working in different government agencies and parastals in Ebonyi state. Can you please remind me of any Ebonyi man or woman who have worked or is still working in Anambra state as a senior government official? We gave Nigeria it's first minister of education yet you guys still call us poor, backward and uneducated people. We know that you may have gone beyond us in some aspects but when will you learn how to play the so called big-brother in a civil way without raining insults on others? This actually show that you guys are not civilized as you meant us to believe. "The young shall grow" doesn't mean that one is suffering from inferiority complex, it means that one has acknowledged his/her limitations and working to improve on those areas. As far as I read all the comments here which dipicts your true intentions, I can never subscribe to a new nation which is based on master-servant relationship. Ebonyi state of today can never be Ebonyi state of yesterday! We're pretty much wiser and taking care of our internal challenges.

Stop always explaining yourself to the evil night owl called mktinsight. Leave him for me to handle because I am the only one that understands how to put him in the bag. Focus on updating us here with the international airport pictures.

Rocksvibes234:

“We didn’t set out to build just any airport in Anambra, but a strategic one which will help boost traditional commerce in our state and beyond, but, quiet importantly, result in technology transfer and in the transformation of our economic landscape”.

Lol gradually you are exposing yourself where you originated from. So Enugu airport runway which is 3km is what you are comparing to Anambra runway which 3.7km. Which one of them do you think can land the biggest jet in the world?

Mktinsight go and tell your pay masters that you failed to confuse us with your demonic posts. Tell them that we defeated you fair and square. cheesy

Mktinsight the demonic night owl cry and die. We don't need your useless worthless posts. You have been rejected by everyone. Just go and die

Anambra international airport has come to stay. Mktinsight go and die

mktinsight:
t's you that will cry and die at this senseless waste of funds in another display of mediocrity.Cry and die. Obiano could not complete simple 3km expressway between Amansea and Amawbia but he is building airport. Go back and read my earlier prophesy which is coming to pass. Only project he will complete is Mini stadium.Cry and die. Akanu Ibiam International terminal built by proper contractors with proper funding will be completed by May 2021. Better drop your umueri village airport fantasy and connect to the rest of the world through Enugu.Cry and die. RCC has almost completed one side of Onitsha Awka expressway. Not useless IDC. Julius Berger will finish Second Niger Bridge before this rubbish of a local airport.

Hahahaha frustration about this Anambra international airport has destroyed you totally. See how you are now crying like a pussy cat in a whole. cheesy

Yes, Anambra cities from Awka to Onitsha are the best in igbo land. Awka Millennium city alone beats every city in the east including your overhyped Enugu jungle. Do you have one covered drain in Enugu? No. But the entire city of Awka Millennium city has covered drains and well planned paved roads. EBS Boulevard Awka is wider than all the roads in your Enugu. Onitsha is the best planned city in the entire eastern region. Check your Google earth.

Anambra is the most important state in SE. Anambra has the largest population and largest economy in SE. Which means Anambra is the best state by far in the region. Nnewi is the auto powerhouse of Africa.

Anambra generally has the best road networks in the SE region. Anambra is the most developed state in the SE region. Anambra has the largest GDP in the SE. Anambra is to the SE what Lagos and PH is to the SW and SS respectively. Anambra has the lowest poverty rate in the SE region.

Comparing Anambra international airport to Enugu airport is like comparing JFK airport to Nairobi airport. Just the tower building beats everything in Enugu airport. cheesy

So mktinsight go and die, you have been defeated.

mktinsight:
This midget airport will give who nightmares dey laugh at all the pathetic hyping. Stella Oduah Ada Anambra did the right thing and started a massive terminal in Enugu. 25,000 Sqm for international flights to serve the region . All SE governors were there in support. That makes sense not this pathetic attempt at an airport.Enugu is 1-2 hours from everywhere important in alaigbo.

Hahahaha you finished the night owl called mktinsight in just one post. His pain is growing as the airport progresses. You could notice that the night owl is getting really desperate, now he doesn't sleep at all. . cheesy

cjrane:

Mehn, this airport is really giving you sifia pains grin grin grin grin
So you mean the airport terminal building is not even bigger than a duplex built on an 100 by 100 plot of land? grin grin grin grin
So how did you get to measure the size from Ijebu ode? Chai grin grin grin

Someone already advised you to go there with a big iron rod and just knock down everything and tell them the project gives you sifia pains. cheesy cheesy
Or you should heed the advise of mystery shopper and either jump into the lagoon or look for a nice functioning transformer and hug it tightly. grin grin

I think you should do the needful within a month or two, because it looks like every thing will be ready soon and your pains will be unbearable. grin grin
SMH cheesy

Hahahaha another sucker punch for the evil night owl called mktinsight

ChimaAdeoye:
Lol...you guys are too funny. grin grin

The evil night owl called Mktinsight was awake throughout from 1am to 4am, now he has resumed this morning. Mktinsight is a useless hopeless mentally deranged fellow that does nothing for a living. His office is on this thread. Mktinsight is unmarried even at his old age. No one loves mktinsight both online and offline, he is all alone. Mktinsight is also a suicidal fellow.

Mktinsight oya take another pictures of Anambra international airport. We want your pain, frustration and traumatization to continue. cheesy
