And one of their players had the temerity to be boasting that they will win us, the reverse will surely be the case, we are far better than them. |

Dear parents of youth soccer players, My name is Jose and I’m a student from the Netherlands and I’m making an app for parents of youth soccer players in Nigeria for my bachelor thesis. I would love to have your help for this. It is very easy, you can fill in the survey through this link (only takes 2 minutes) https://nl.surveymonkey.com/r/KYT7FTP And If you want you could be testing a new app that might soon be launched in Nigeria! Kind regards, Jose 1 Like |

2021 AFCON Qualifiers: Benin Bank On Local Stars To Beat Super Eagles Benin Republic head coach Michel Dussuyer will now count on local league stars for this month’s 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying games Nigeria and Sierra Leone due to the unavailability of a number of his foreign-based stars, reports Completesport.com. Dussuyer will be without several of his key stars after clubs in France announced they will not be releasing their players for international games outside Europe during the upcoming window. The Frenchman was earlier scheduled to release his list for both games on Tuesday, but it was postponed to Thursday (today) due to uncertainties surrounding the availability of the top foreign pros. “We are still waiting for the list. Somebody is sure when it will come out,”a reliable source in the Benin Football Federation told Completesports.com. “The big difficulty now is that we won’t have our players in France for the games. We have over half our players in France and it is difficult for the coach to find a way around it at the moment. “We are probably going towards a local team which will be reinforced by the players playing in Nigeria, Ethiopia, Algeria and Tunisia.” Benin will host the Super Eagles on March 27 at the Stade Charles de Gaulle, Porto-Novo, and then face Sierra Leone three days later in Conakry. The Squirrels will secure a place in Cameroon 2021 with a win against the Super Eagles.

2021 AFCON Qualifiers: Enyimba’s Iwuala Replaces Sadiq For Benin, Lesotho Games Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr has invited Enyimba forward, Anayo Iwuala as a replacement for club Almeria striker, Umar Sadiq ahead of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Benin and Lesotho. This was confirmed via the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) twitter handle on Friday evening. Umar Sadiq won’t be making his debut for Nigeria this month after Almeria revealed he wouldn’t be released for the two Afcon qualifiers against the Benin Republic and Lesotho. La Unión said in a statement released on their social media pages that they are not satisfied with the conditions put in place to guard against Covid-19 and would not be releasing their star striker for international duty. Umar now joined Nantes winger, Moses Simone whose club also failed to release him due to Covid-19 travel ban, which will force players to be quarantined for two weeks.

Benin pick clubless captain Sessegnon as 10 top pros drop out vs Super Eagles, Sierra Leone Benin coach Michel Dussuyer has been forced to recall captain Stephane Sessegnon, who has been without a club for several months, after he saw at least 10 call-ups drop out of the AFCON qualifiers against the Super Eagles and Sierra Leone. Former Fulham, Sunderland and West Brom star Sessegnon, 37, was not on the original squad for the AFCON qualifiers, but has had to return to international duty after as many as 10 overseas-based call-ups dropped out due to travel restrictions caused by the Coronavirus Pandemic. The absentees are Steve Mounié, Jodel Dossou, Cédric Hountondji, Saturnin Allagbé, Sessi d’Almeida, Matteo Ahlinvi, Youssouf Assogba (France), Olivier Verdon, David Kiki (Bulgaria) and Rudy Gestede (Australia). Local reports now say Benin will have to count on the likes of Rodrigue Kossi, Nabil Yarou, Marcellin Koukpo, Mama Seibou, Adenon Khaled, Jacques Bessan, Michaël Poté, Anaan Tidjani, Jérôme Bonou, Koukou Djiman, Fabien Farnolle, Désiré Sègbé Azankpo, Arsène Loko as well as some players from the local league. A rescheduled press conference Thursday was cancelled as Dussuyer simply forwarded his new squad list to the Benin Football Federation without any explanations for his selections. Benin will qualify for the 2021 AFCON in Cameroon with a win over Super Eagles on March 27 in Porto-Novo. They have seven points from four matches, a point behind leaders Nigeria. |
