Politics / Buhari Quickly Withdraws His Statement After Public Outrage by Prinq: 11:11am On Sep 02, 2018
President Muhammadu Buhari, has withdrawn the statement he made a few days ago, that the rule of law must be subjected to national interest and security.
President Buhari while speaking with the German Chancellor, Angel Merkel, said that his administration will always uphold the sanctity of the rule of law, in governing the country.
Presidential Spokesman, Garba Shehu, made this known in a statement.
He said: “In his remarks during a bilateral meeting, the President said unity and harmony in every society can only be preserved by observing the rule of law, and ensuring that agreements reached in good faith, are followed through to the mutual benefit of countries.
“President Buhari told Chancellor Merkel and members of her delegation, that the rule of law embodies all the rightful mechanisms for conflict resolution, both within the country, and in dealing with all foreign partners, assuring that his administration remains focused on delivering a peaceful, economically viable, and politically stable polity to all Nigerians”, Shehu said.
Recall, that while speaking at the opening ceremony of the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, Conference, last Sunday, Buhari claimed that it was a settled law that national security should always come before the rule of law.
“Rule of Law must be subject to the supremacy of the nation’s security and national interest”, the President told the gathering of Lawyers.
President Buhari’s comment was however, condemned by a Nobel Laureate, Wole Soyinka, as well as several Lawyers, including Human Rights Activist, Femi Falana, and other well-meaning Nigerians.
In a statement on Thursday, Soyinka had mocked the President, by saying that Buhari had obviously given a deep thought to his travails under a Military Dictatorship, and concluded that his incarceration at that time, was also in the national interest.
His words: “At his first coming, it was ‘I intend to tamper with Freedom of the Press’, and Buhari did proceed to suit action to the words, sending two Journalists – Irabor and Thompson – to prison, as a reward for their professional integrity.
“Now, a vague, vaporous, but commodious concept dubbed “national interest”, is being trotted out as an alibi for flouting the decisions of the Nigerian Judiciary. President Buhari has obviously given deep thought to his travails under a Military Dictatorship, and concluded that his incarceration was also in the national interest.”
Nonetheless, Garba Shehu, in a statement on Friday, revealed that Buhari said that he would respect the rule of law.
The Presidential Spokesman, noted that the President made this pledge during a bilateral meeting with the German Chancellor, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The President, maintained that unity and harmony in every society, could only be preserved by observing the rule of law, and ensuring that agreements reached in good faith, are followed through to the mutual benefit of countries.
Buhari told Merkel, who was accompanied by top government officials, and a business delegation, that the rule of law embodied all the rightful mechanisms for conflict resolution, both within the country, and in dealing with all foreign partners.
He assured that his administration would remain focused on delivering a peaceful, economically viable, and politically stable polity to all Nigerians.
He said that Nigeria remains grateful to the German government, for the fair treatment of migrants.
According to him, Nigeria looks forward to improving its trade figures with Germany, which had taken a strong interest in investing in the country.
The President also lauded Germany, for supporting Nigeria in providing effective services in security, education, and creation of jobs.

Nairaland / General / 15 Billionaires To Fund Ojukwu’s Widow’s Election —ohakim by Prinq: 4:33am On Aug 30, 2018
A former governor of Imo State, Chief Ikedi Ohakim, has said no fewer than 15 Igbo billionaires had been mobilised to fund the senatorial race of the widow of late Igbo leader, Dim Chukwuemeka Ojukwu, Bianca Ojukwu.

He said the Igbo would not watch the wife of their leader be intimidated by anybody in any circumstance.

Ohakim who described the late Ojukwu as the most selfless Igbo leader dead or alive, spoke at Ekwulobia in the Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State during a stakeholders’ meeting of the All Progressives Grand Alliance in the Anambra South Senatorial district.

He enjoined those aspiring to contest the position with Bianca to have a rethink, stressing that it would be a setback to the Igbo and a disservice to Ojukwu for anybody to work against the interest of his widow and in fact any member of his family in general.

He said “Those who are contesting the poll with the wife of our leader may have the money and wherewithal to muzzle down Bianca but they don’t have the same integrity.

“Bianca Ojukwu is not an ordinary human being, she is a spirit. She has double-barreled identity and double-barreled legacy.
“We have mobilised 15 Igbo billionaires to sponsor her ambition and over 25,000 youths to work for her.”
He enjoined the people of Anambra State not to disappoint the Igbo race in the Bianca project.

He added, “The people of Imo, Abia, Ebonyi, Enugu, have asked me to beg you (Anambra) to accomplish this mission and project in memory of our great leader, Dim Chkwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu.

“Ojukwu sacrificed his Oxford education, his personal comfort, his father’s wealth to save the Igbo race at the most auspicious time”.
Bianca said she was going to the Senate to accomplish the dream of her late husband of giving the Igbo a voice in national polity.

She said, “APGA and Igbo interests run in my veins and blood; and I have a kindred obligation to defend it and that’s why I’m going to the Senate. The Ojukwu dream must not die. We can’t abandon Ojukwu.”

Bianca, a former Ambassador of Nigeria to Spain would contest the Anambra South Senatorial poll on the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance.

Her late husband led APGA for over a decade during his lifetime, and was at several times the presidential candidate of the party.

Politics / Angela Merkel To Visit Nigeria On Friday by Prinq: 3:07am On Aug 25, 2018
German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, will on Wednesday tour three West African countries, paying visits to Senegal, Ghana and Nigeria.

The German Deputy Government Spokeswoman, Ulrike Demmer, said in a statement on Friday in Berlin that Merkel would spend Wednesday through Friday in the three countries, accompanied by an economic delegation. Migration politics, particularly Merkel’s campaign to tackle the causes resulting in a stream of refugees to Europe, are likely to feature on the discussion agenda, according to News Agency of Nigeria report

The statement read in part, “Merkel is to meet Wednesday afternoon with Senegalese President, Macky Sall, to discuss economic developments in the country and regional cooperation. In the evening she will meet with civil society representatives.

“Then it’s onto the Ghanaian capital of Accra to meet President, Nana Akufo-Addo, on Thursday to discuss economic affairs and foreign policy. The chancellor is also to take part in a German business-organised round table that will focus on private investment linked to the G20 “Compact with Africa” initiative.

“Finally, Merkel is to head to Nigeria on Friday to meet with the President of the Economic Alliance of the Economic Community of West African State, Jean-Claude Brou. She will hold talks with Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari.”

Merkel had on October 7, 2016 visited three African countries before hosting leaders from Chad and Nigeria for talks in Berlin, as she sought ways to stem a migrant influx to Europe.

Merkel first travelled to Mali and Nigeria before heading to Ethiopia where she was to visit the headquarters of the African Union in the capital, Addis Ababa.

Her latest talks with leaders of all three countries are to focus on migration issues and the battle against terrorism.

Programming / Instagram Is Testing College Community Groups by Prinq: 2:57am On Aug 25, 2018
lordZOUGA, kodewrita, Javanian

Instagram is testing out a feature that groups users into college community lists, according to a CNBC report. It’s a move following the beginnings of parent company Facebook, which started out as a college-exclusive social networking platform. The service is intended for students currently enrolled in university, excluding alumni.

Some users have been prompted to join their college community to connect with other students, which adds the user to a class-based list. Joining the group lets the user add their university and graduating year to their profile. Users can view the group members’ public Stories and direct message them from the community lists.

It’s odd that verification doesn’t rely on an .edu email address or campus geolocation, but instead through “information people have publicly shared about their university, the accounts they follow and other connections they have,” according to CNBC. And it’s definitely not without its issues, as a reporter was able to join a college community group despite having graduated.

Instagram confirmed to The Verge that the feature is in the testing phase, and there are “tools to report inappropriate usage.” As more companies focus on catering to university students (including Tinder’s recent launch of its college-only service, Tinder U), it’s clear that they’ll have to take extra precautions to keep their platforms safe.

Science/Technology / Youtube Expands Non-skippable Ads To More Creators by Prinq: 2:25am On Aug 25, 2018
mkmyers45, UjSizzle

YouTube is expanding non-skippable ads on its platform. Today, the company announcedthat all creators who can already monetize content on YouTube will soon be able to turn on non-skippable ads on all videos. The change is rolling out next week and eligible creators will get a notification in their dashboard.

Advertisers usually pay creators more for non-skippable ads, so this could be a way for YouTubers to incentivize creators to stick around on its platform and produce more content, with each ad sale earning the Google-owned company a cut. If a creator turns on non-skippable ads, even previously published videos on their channel will be able to make use of them.

YouTube is also adding a tool to let creators bulk add or remove non-skippable ads and to track audience engagement and revenue flow from videos that include those types of ads. While the changes likely mean more non-skippable ads on the platform for everyone, since YouTube limited each of those ads to 20 seconds — as of a new rule change in January — the delay before each video shouldn’t be too dramatic.

Science/Technology / Nigeria Witnesses Longest Lunar Eclipse Of The Century by Prinq: 3:23am On Jul 28, 2018
Nigeria on Friday joined other countries in Africa, the Middle East, Southern Asia and the Indian Ocean region to witness a total lunar eclipse.

Astronomers said Friday’s lunar eclipse was the longest in this century, lasting for 103 minutes, and that this running time wouldn’t be matched until 2123.

A lunar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes directly behind the Earth and into its shadow and this can only occur when the Sun, Earth, and the Moon are aligned exactly or very closely so, with the planet in between.

During a total lunar eclipse, the Earth completely blocks direct sunlight from reaching the Moon and the only light reflected from the lunar surface appears reddish for the same reason that a sunset or sunrise does.

Due to this reddish colour, a totally eclipsed Moon is sometimes called a blood moon.

Unlike a solar eclipse, which can be viewed only from a certain relatively small area of the world, a lunar eclipse may be viewed from anywhere on the night side of Earth.

According to the National Space Research and Development Agency, the lunar eclipse in Nigeria started around 6:44pm as partial eclipse and developed into a total eclipse around 7:30pm.

In a statement by the agency’s head of media and corporate communications, Dr. Felix Ale, the eclipse was expected to reach its peak around 9:21pm and wane from then until it ended around 12:30am of Saturday (today).

Sports / Tributes Rolls As Ikeme Quits Football by Prinq: 3:11am On Jul 28, 2018

Praises have been pouring in from various sources for Nigeria and Wolverhampton Wanderers goalkeeper Carl Ikeme, who retired from football on Friday on health grounds.

Former Super Eagles’ number one Ikeme, who started the journey to the Russia 2018 World Cup with the Eagles, was diagnosed with acute leukaemia in July 2017 but entered into complete remission in June.

“I spoke with the doctor and he suggested I should retire, because of the toll the treatment has taken on my body,” Ikeme said.He announced his retirement in a statement on Wolves website.

“He thinks it’s what is best for me and I can’t really risk trying to come back, my health is the priority. I want to be here for my children, family and friends. In the grand scheme of things with my life in danger, it’s the minimum price I have to pay to spend the rest of my time with my family.”

However, praises poured in for the 32-year-old ex-Wolves keeper with his fellow keepers hailing him.

“Having been at the club since the age of 14, Carl is far more than just a player in our eyes – he is our brother and an important part of our family,” said Wolves executive chairman Jeff Shi.

“When Carl came to tell us (with) his news, yes there was sadness, but also great happiness to see him so healthy and hungry for the opportunities that lay ahead of him.

“Carl is strong, a fighter, something he has proven in his playing career and also during what has been a very challenging time for him, so I have no doubt he will be a success in whatever he does next. We wish Carl all the very best for the future, but remind him he will always remain a part of the Wolves family.”

Goalkeepers from various nationalities and clubs in England also praised their former colleague.

Some of the keepers in the video are Iker Casillas, Petr Cech, David Seaman, Joe Hart, Boaz Myhill, Mike Stowell, Adam Federici, Walter Zenger and Mark SchwarzerIn a video clip posted on the Wolves Twitter handle, while some of the players sang to the tune of the famous Cuban song ‘Guantanamera’ to render ‘One Carl Ikeme, there is only one Carl Ikeme’, others only chanted the phrase.

Others are Asmir Begovic, Tomasz Kuszczak, Jack Ruddy, Andreas Sondergaard, David Stockdale, Will Norris and Lukasz Fabianski.

Ikeme was in goal for Nigeria’s first three matches of the 2018 World Cup qualifiers. His first cap was in a 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier away to Tanzania in Dar es Salaam in September 2015

Career / Why Skilled Workers Will Own The Future by Prinq: 3:15am On Jul 13, 2018

What's the Big Idea?
In our current atmosphere of high unemployment there are many factors that have prevented companies from growing faster and adding jobs. But one area that has not received nearly as much attention is the labor shortage when it comes to skilled workers. Recruiters simply can't fill these job vacancies. In industries such as manufacturing this problem is particularly pronounced, as the older work force that possessed the right skills is retiring, while the younger generation has shunned careers in this sector. After all, the outlook for manufacturing was quite gloomy for a long time.

While H-1B visas have allowed an influx of highly skilled immigrants in the technology sector, that is still not enough to meet labor demands. In fact, a recent survey found that 83% of manufacturers reported a moderate or severe shortage of skilled production workers to hire. The problem is also found across many other sectors of the economy, from energy to aerospace to consumer products and technology.
"There is a huge mismatch between the jobs that are available and the workers that are out there," says Patricia Milligan, President of Human Capital at Mercer. Milligan says the workers with the right skills need to be considered "a pretty critical asset" to businesses, and the task of keeping them engaged needs to be "one of the single most important thing that leaders and managers focus on."

What's the Significance?

According to Milligan, "never before has keeping the right people and finding them been as high on the agendas of great companies as it is today." So what are successful companies doing to engage and retain these key assets? Milligan points to "world-class companies" who are working with academic institutions to more rigorously evaluate curriculums. Many of the "skills" that are currently being taught are what could be called "transitory" because the jobs themselves are being transformed or replaced by automated technological processes. More dynamic curriculums are needed to keep up with the pace of change if we hope to train the work force for the jobs that will exist in the future.

When you look at the global picture, the demographics, the birth rates and replacement ratios in the workforce, Milligan sees a "skilled workers’ world," and they will have the power. "There’s no question that the workers with the right skills around the world are going to own their own futures," she says, "and we want to compete for those workers."

Politics / FG Urges Traditional Rulers To Support Efforts To End Killings, Drug Abuse by Prinq: 3:07am On Jul 13, 2018
The Federal Government has urged traditional rulers in the country to support government’s efforts to stop the series of killings of innocent Nigerians in the country.
Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha, made the plea yesterday, during an interactive meeting with the traditional rulers in his office in Abuja.
He said traditional rulers have key roles to play for the success or failure of security administration in the country.
He said: “I’m highly delighted and honored to have our royal fathers with us today. This meeting could not have come at a better time than now, and I heartily welcome you.
“As traditional rulers and royal fathers, it is generally believed that you hold the key to the success or failure of security administration in the country, because you operate at the grassroots of the society and interact closely with people in their daily activities. You remain in the frontline of stakeholders in the business of peace building in every community.
“Peace building promotes development, which, in turn, attracts investment to the country. As you are aware, the situation of peace and security in the country, today, deserves collective approach by the government, the traditional institutions, faith-based organisations and the communities,” he said.

According to him, the government will continue to support their efforts to de-escalate communal conflicts which continue to inflict severe losses of lives and destruction of property.

“It is critical that we continue to cultivate peaceful coexistence across the country for us to achieve our objectives of building a nation.” he said
Commending them for the summit held last year in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, he said, it would have addressed some of the issues facing the country.

He added “We would be glad to see more of such noble initiatives at bonding the fragile unity caused by recent violent activities.”
The SGF also drew the attention of the traditional rulers to the growing youth population in the country and the attendant rise in drug abuse/ criminal activities.

“I urge you as royal fathers to use your good offices to complement the efforts of government to stem the rising tide and save the future of our nation. There is no better place to begin than the grass roots.
“In a few months from now, the general elections will take place. It is important that we mobilize our citizens not only to obtain their PVCs but also to ensure that the entire process is peaceful and devoid of violent acts. As our Royal Fathers government recognizes that partnership with you is important in this regard.

“The message from the President is that the royal fathers hold the key to the success of the Nigerian enterprise and shall continue to improve on consultations between you and government institutions.” he stated

Earlier, the Chairman Coordinating Committee and Etsu Nupe, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, brifed the SGF on the History, Composition, Objectives and Goals of the National Council of Traditional Rulers in Nigeria

Education / 10 Best Courses To Study In Nigeria Today by Prinq: 2:43am On Jul 12, 2018

It’s 2018, a new era in Nigeria and academics is still pretty much a big deal in this part of the world.

Even though availability of jobs is not what we enjoy over here, people still get employed every day in this same country mostly because of the kinds of courses they studied.

There are certain fields that if chosen and graduated with an excellent grade the chances of getting a high paying job becomes really close.

That’s why we at Naijaloaded have decided to list out the best courses to study in Nigerian colleges as of 2018.

Accounting
The service of an accountant is required by virtually all professional bodies, accounting firms and so on. T

hey audit accounts and are needed to work in several places, like airports, hotels, supermarkets, banks, churches, schools and so on.

Their services are also required in government establishments. The accounting graduate will however need to go for professional courses in accounting as ordinary accounting degree is not that marketable

Chemical and Petroleum Engineering
The chemical and petroleum industries in Nigeria are always on the lookout for worthy graduates in these fields to employ.

Getting job in these industries may not be so easy, but anyone who is able to get such a job after graduating from the university will never have to go hungry again. The pay is good and the lifestyle it offers is top class.

Medicine
Once you finish your training as a medical doctor, you are very sure of getting job fast. In most instances, jobs are waiting for you once you finish, even before your induction.

The population of Nigeria is increasing by the day. Many more people get sick and they will want to visit hospitals for treatment.

This means the curse will always be marketable; it is as profitable as “pure-water” business in dry seasons lolz.

Theater Arts
Most theatre arts graduates are into self employment. Be that as it may, this is a thriving industry in thee Nigeria of today. The entertainment provided by this industry is well sought after by Nigerians.

So many successful and well known individuals have been produced by this industry and many of them are Theatre Arts graduates. The best universities where you can study this course in Nigeria are University of Calabar, University of Lagos and University of Port Harcourt.

Pharmacy
This is yet another highly marketable course in Nigeria. Graduates of pharmacy are involved in formulating drugs. They are taught about how drugs work and the side effects of these drugs.

A pharmacy student is also taught about how drugs interact. A pharmacy graduate can be employed by the National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC).

If they like, they can go into private practice by establishing their own pharmaceutical company. They can equally seek employment with any of the pharmaceutical companies in Nigeria.

Computer Engineering and Information Technology

We are in information age and any graduate of computer engineering and information technology is undoubtedly a hot cake.

Virtually everyone is online these days. The number of those in need of computers and information technology services will increase astronomically in the nearest future.

This means the services of computer engineering and information technology graduates will be needed more and more in the nearest future.

The only problem is that one can actually become a computer engineering and information technology expert without writing UTME or seeing the four walls of a university.

Be that as it may, already established computer engineering and information technology firms would always prefer to employ someone with university degree.

Nursing and Laboratory Sciences
Nursing is a marketable course any day. As a nursing graduate, your possibilities are simply limitless. You can work both in Nigeria and other countries of the world.

Many foreign countries are desperately looking for nurses to employ and you can travel aboard to get gainfully employed if you do not like the working condition in Nigeria.

The same thing applies to laboratory scientist. As a fresh graduate of nursing, you may not earn much, but your pay increases if you go for further professional courses, like post-basic training in surgery, midwifery and the likes.

Marketing
Marketing degree is one of the most marketable in Nigeria of today. A marketer is needed by virtually every business organization.

Marketing is not what just anyone can do; it is a professional thing and this is why any business organization that desires to thrive in the midst of competition will employ a marketer.

The marketer can equally go into private practice and he/she will be able to thrive in business than others who do not have the skills he/she had been given in the universities.

Mass Communication
This is yet another very marketable course you can consider if you are an Arts student in secondary school.

It is not offered by many Nigerian universities since not all of them have the facilities to offer the course.

A mass communication graduate can work in a TV station or radio station. He/she can also work in a newspaper industry.

He can be employed by government and he can as well go into self employment and become a freelance journalist. As a mass communication graduate, you can equally work at the embassy.

Estate Management
Many people never realize how marketable this course can be. Truth is the course is marketable and will continue to be. This is because Nigeria’s population is increasing by the day. Many more buildings are being built to meet with this increasing population.

Those who own these buildings will always require the services of estate managers to mange and oversee these buildings.

If you are a science student in search of the best course to study in the university, this course will prove to be one of the best to choose.

PS:
Personally for me, In this day and age i would say the best course to study any where is being practical, get skills, or at least get a skill you are very good at, a skill that is in demand and apply it.

Cramming theories in schools is never good for anyone but getting practical is everything

Crime / Lagos Sars Operatives Extort N5,000 From Woman, Threaten To Kill by Prinq: 3:39am On May 18, 2018

A digital marketer, Ifeoluwa Adegoke, caused a stir on the social media on Thursday after sharing her encounter with some operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad in the Ikorodu area of Lagos State.

Adegoke said she was forced to part with N5,000 to save her life and that of her colleagues, who were accosted by the policemen around 1.20pm while going for a photo shoot.

The victim, who shared a snapshot evidence of the fund transfer and the photo of one of the policemen, alleged that the operatives threatened to kill them.

“With my encounter today, it is safe to say SARS men are armed robbers. I was going for a photo shoot in Ikorodu today (Wednesday) and armed robbers SARS pulled us over and made us pay for no reason, threatening that they were gonna waste our lives. I made a transfer so they can be traced,” she wrote on her Twitter page.

The tweet went viral as some Nigerians, who lived in the Ikorodu area, identified one of the policemen, Inspector Omotosho Olushola Charles, as a habitual extortionist.

They alleged that Charles had forced them at different times to part with various sums of money without committing any offence.

Adegoke, who later shared her ordeal in details, said the encounter gave her a new perspective of SARS men.

She said, “My colleagues and I left Surulere for Ikorodu, where we were to do a photo shoot. We were four in the car and I was the only female.

“When we got to Ikorodu, the SARS operatives, who were in a vehicle, asked our driver to stop; they were five in their bus – all fully armed.

“They said we were suspected criminals and asked us to come down. They asked the driver to come down too. They checked the car, took our phones and went through them. When they did not find anything, they said we were thieves and cult members.

“When I challenged them that we did nothing wrong, one of them said he would slap me. I told my colleagues to keep calm because I knew it would be stupid for us to argue with armed policemen. I told my colleagues that they would demand money from us in the end.”

She explained that after the search did not yield any fruit, the officials demanded N100,000.

Adegoke said she took the operatives through her social media account to show them that they were managing to survive.

“But they said they did not care. I told the inspector that since we were not the kind of people they were looking for and since they did not find anything incriminating on us, they should just release us.

“They said they were going to release us because we were not the kind of people they were looking for; but they won’t release us for free. They started cocking their guns to threaten us; they said they would shoot us.

“I approached one of them and begged that we did not have the N100,000 because we were only young people searching for our daily bread. I told him that I had just N5,000 in my account and he should allow me to transfer it to them,” she added.

She noted that the men refused to accede to her request, just as she remained adamant so as to have evidence of the extortion.

The social media enthusiast said after some murmurs of disapproval, the operatives agreed.

“After we did the transfer, they did not allow us to go until they got a credit alert on their mobile phone. The policeman who released his account number told the others that he was with his ATM card and he would withdraw the money for them to share.

“When we left, I traced the name and discovered that his bank account name, Omotosho Olushola Charles, is the same he uses for his Facebookaccount. That was how I got his picture,” she added.

The victim, who demanded that the policemen should be rounded up and prosecuted, said she and her colleagues could have been killed if they did not have any money on them.

She described the experience as an “eye-opener,” urging the authorities to reform the police force.

The Head of the Public Complaint Rapid Response Unit, Abayomi Shogunle, said Adegoke’s complaint had been received, adding that the police inspector had been arrested.

“My dearest @ife_luv12, I am glad to inform you that the account owner has been identified – Inspector Charles Omotosho, FSARS Ikorodu, Lagos. He is in custody; preliminary investigation ongoing. PCRRU will inform you on the next line of action. Sorry for the experience,” he tweeted.

The spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, SP Chike Oti, confirmed the arrest of the inspector, adding that the police authorities were investigating the incident.

He said, “We have arrested the policeman. His trial will commence soon. Any other person found culpable in the course of investigation will be made to face the full wrath of the law.”

“I want you to understand that even though I dropped out of secondary school, I am a proud single mother. Just take it that my life is a history. If not for God, I don’t know where I would have been. My major concern is for the young girls, I am not a victim, I am a proud single mother. Today my child is my school; she was the school that I graduated from. My first degree was that woman; you will not understand what it means to become pregnant at fourteen.”

Ada Ameh went further to remind the students that they all have various talent embedded in them:

“Aside being in school, there are other talents that you have in you. You should not allow this talent to die in you. Some of you will come out to be great designers, I have heard testimonies of people that moved from the rank of being bank managers and suddenly they started falling back to their first love.
“Be You, Be original. This is what has kept me in the movie industry for 22 years and by the grace of God still relevant. 22 years ago I was picked from the gutters, dropped out of secondary school after the baby saga; I wrote GCE and JAMB and didn’t pass the exam. It has not been easy, but I have been able to pull through all these years only by the grace of God.

Crime / Police Allegedly Kills Pregnant Woman In IDP Camp In Benue by Prinq: 9:38am On Apr 15, 2018

Officers of the Nigeria Police Mobile unit deployed to the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camp in Daudu, Guma Local Government Area of Benue State on Saturday shot dead a pregnant displaced teenager, simply identified as Queen Zoho, who stays in the camp.

New Telegraph newspaper reports that she was killed during a melee that arose from an argument between youths of the area and the policemen.

The deceased was reportedly shot alongside two other men currently in critical condition.

It was gathered that the deceased had been staying in the IDPs camp since the outbreak of the farmers/herdsmen crisis and has since not been able to return to her ancestral home as the Fulani insurgents have taken over their communities.

According to eye-witnesses, the killing which ignited serious tension within and outside the vicinity of the camp, started when a man identified as Ornyiev, conveying a passenger on his motorcycle to a village in Daudu for a wake keep was intercepted by the Mobile Policemen at a roadblock they had mounted.

“On arriving at the roadblock, Ornyiev was flagged down by the Mopol who seized his motorcycle. He (Ornyiev) then called his district head on the telephone to intimate him about what had happened on his way to the burial.

“The district head swiftly sent words that the officers should please pardon the cyclist and release the motorcycle to him.

“As they were talking, the Mopol man started beating Ornyiev. The policeman hit him with his gun butt after he asked why they were maltreating him.

“This attracted onlookers and passers-by and the policeman, in the process, corked his gun and fired shot which killed the pregnant and injured the other two men.”

Mother of the deceased, Mrs Paulina Zoho, told New Telegraph that her daughter had gone to look for water from where she was informed of the police brutality.

Mrs. Zoho disclosed that they were staying in Kogi state but only came home for holidays when they were caught up by the Fulani herdsmen attacks on their community.

She said her husband was not in the state when the incident occurred but was making efforts to contact him.

State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, Moses Yamu said he was yet to obtain full details about the killing and promised to provide later.
