Fashion / Re: The Fabulousities Of Makeup by Queenisha: 8:12pm On Sep 04, 2008
iyaade:

@anybody who can answer me

I have generally good skin, no blemishes, no acne, pretty smooth, except for the few areas where I have eczema. I have been gettinng these itchy, dry patches of skin since I was 15, and they come and go with the allergy seasons (hayfever and ragweed) as well as in winter which is pretty harsh over here. They leave dry scaly dark patches on my neck, and chin and while creamy foundation soothes and conceals it, I would like advice on how to stop the itching and breaking and treat the damaged skin. Without the eczema, I wouldn't need to wear makeup (not that I do on a regular basis anyway) and I want to keep my skin healthy. I also have a bit of it on my upper back so makeup really isn't my answer.

Any takers?

Eczema is a very common skin condition especially with the black skin. You can relieve the systems with corticosteroid creams which can be bought OTC here in the states.
Make sure to keep those areas moisturized.Crisco vegetable oil (believe it or not) can help.
It does get better as you grow though, seasonal flare ups are not uncommon.

na only wazobia.
Then when the position is only for the wa's the zo's or the bia's,they'll narrow it then to state of origin, Local government area, village or hamlet.
Our problems are plural.
To think that a company would come all the way to Atlanta to recruit Naija professionals but their agenda is to recruit only Yoruba professionals ?
They should have simply said so.
If you're ogunnaike or Babatunde this way
all the Okereke's ,Okarafors and Omoreigwa and  Inyangs the other way.
Better still they could have gone to Oduduwa united association of greater Atlanta area to do the recruitment and no "outsider" will ever know when they came ,recruited and went
why make this poor writer waste his precious time applying and interviewing for a job when the real applicants are already chosen
Isn't that why the country is the way it is?
A whole president is away from office for over 2 weeks and not a soul can confirm his whereabouts and mission truthfully.

KarmaMod:

Her speech tonight was garbage.

Said absolutely nothing.

All I got was "My family is great and my son is going to Iraq"

I don't know what the hype by republicans was about I've heard better speeches at various high school graduations by valedictorians.
It sounded like a pep rally by high schoolers.
Wasn't impressed one bit.
What I kept wondering was why any responsible woman would parade her pregnant teen daughter on national TV for selfish gains.
Is there no shame anymore in society?
Is her job as mother not to protect her kids from shame and ridicule ?
Granted her daughter erred but did she have to accept this nomination and have her daughter she claims to love up in full view of the whole world, unwedded, knocked up with her bossoms almost up to her chin level on world wide TV.
I felt ashamed on her behalf.
I would never subject my children or family to this sort of ridicule for selfish gains.

all you folks going goo goo and gaa gaa over Sarah
wait till the Ethics committee in her homestate finishes their investigation on her alledged misconduct.
The woman has too much baggage  and no shame.
why on earth did McCain pick a woman with this many issues?
It was very irresponsible of her to have accepted this nomination with her house on fire.
exposing her family and underaged children to this sort of ridicule
Her knocked up daughter, her affairs, her ethics violation, the scandal over who actually gave birth to Trig, her dipping into state funds to pay for a lawyer, former membership to a separatist party,
ah ah
one woman ,24 scandals.
Knowing all this, she should have quietly declined the nomination and led her quiet life in faraway Alaska  with her Eskimo man and no one would have ever known who she is.
The stories just began.

What an irresponsible mother and wife.
Irresponsible not because her daughter got knocked up but because she refused to act like most responsible mothers would do in such circumstance
i.e not expose their children to public ridicule.
I have absolutely no high regards for such a woman

carnal:

@Ibime,igbos visit more because of their older folks are in the village while the yorubas especially those in lagos don't visit much because most of their elderly folks are in the cities,do you also know that alot of yoruba people don't take their people home for burial rites?

That's not true.
Igbos believe that your village is your ultimate home so no matter where they are, Christmas is not the same when you don't spend it in the village.
We take pride in our villages
We build our most gorgeous homes in our villages even if you have to spend just 2 weeks in a year there
We go there to conduct our traditional and sometimes church weddings, anniversaries and ultimately our funerals.
My parents live in a city,I was born in a city but the biggest and most gorgeous house they have,is in the village.
An Igbo man without a home in his village is not yet a man.
You can move to Lagos,Onitsha and Ijebuode.
If you have a home in Lagos, you are expected to build your real home in your village.
We take pride in our place of origin.
Even when our folks have passed away or moved to anywhere else, our villages remain a place of pride
We don't do "town marriages"
any Igbo man that comes to marry someone, when the traditional things set off, everyone migrates to the village
not Aba or Enugu where the woman and her folks may be residing.
They move down home to Umuokonko Isiekenesi
straight to her father's compound
That is the real home
Where she comes from, where her father, grandfather and great grand come from
That is Igbo culture
And we are very very proud of this. cool

can't wait to go to my village,my mothers and my hubby's

Man sets sister ablaze 3/9/2008

The Nation
From John Mayaki, Benin

Mrs. Patience Iyaha, a widow and mother of three, has been reportedly set ablaze by her elder brother, Mr. Ahmed Okoro Evbohon, allegedly over her refusal to go into prostitution abroad.
Evbohon, who is said to be at large, The Nation gathered, was alleged to have committed the crime on Afuda Road in Igueben Local Government Area of Edo State.

Mrs. Iyaha said her elder brother attacked her after she refused his persuasion to travel to Italy for prostitution, adding that she was attacked during her trip to the village to attend the funeral of a relation at Igueben.

She said: "The moment he (Ahmed) saw me coming, he ran after me and started pouring fuel on me, when I tried to run, I fell. At that point he brought out fire and set me ablaze. I am a tailor. My brother threatened to kill me before now because I refused to accept the plan to travel abroad.

"I did not report to the police because we are the same parent so as not to compound the family problem."

Mrs Iyaha was admitted at Otivob Hospital before she was referred to the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH). She was reportedly ejected for her inability to foot the hospital’s bills.

ON July 6, police say, a Pakistani named Chaudhry Rashid strangled his 25-year-old daughter San- deela Kanwal with a Bungee cord in her bedroom because she wanted to end her arranged marriage. This "honor killing" came not in Pakistan, but in Jonesboro, Ga. - a suburb 16 miles outside Atlanta

A father has been found guilty of killing his daughter in what police have described as an honour killing.
The body of Banaz Mahmod, 20, was found in a suitcase buried in a garden in Birmingham last year.

Her father Mahmod Mahmod, 52, and uncle Ari Mahmod, 50, from Mitcham, south London, were both convicted of murder at the Old Bailey.

A third defendant, Darbad Mares-Rasull, was cleared of conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.

Ari Mahmod was also found guilty of conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.

Mohamad Hama, 30, of West Norwood, south London, an associate of Ari, has pleaded guilty to the murder.

Miss Mahmod was killed after falling in love with a man her family did not want her to marry.

Her father and uncle ordered the murder because they believed she had shamed the family, the three-month trial heard.

Banaz had made several attempts to warn police that her life was in danger, even naming those she thought would kill her.

In footage recorded following an earlier attempt on her life by her father in December 2005, she said she was "really scared".

However her statement following the assault was allegedly not taken seriously enough by investigating officers.

A Muslim man is beginning a life sentence for murdering his daughter because he disapproved of her Christian boyfriend.
Abdullah Yones admitted stabbing 16-year-old Heshu to death at their home in Acton, west London.

The Old Bailey heard Kurdish Abdalla Yones, 48, murdered Heshu on 12 October 2002 because he feared she was becoming westernised.

He pleaded for the court to pass the death sentence on him for his "appalling" crime after he tried to take his own life.

I wish to point out that the extreme measure was taken due to TRIBAL reasons and not RELIGIOUS reasons as some people might mix it up!

It is a shame and this Asian people and their cultural extremism sef!!! sad

these tribal reasons seem to be perculiar to certain religions.

How ironic

all they need to do is put out an announcement for donors on NTA
In Okija alone, I'm sure there'll be over 5,000 willing donors if the price is right grin

Now ask them where they got that doctrine from and you'll be suprised. "The Bible".

My dear, shit is real.
Who is to say whats right and whats wrong??
Some group still do spiritual cleansing were a priest will bath a woman (both single and married), at night, alone, at a beach in order to rid her of the demons hindering her blessings.
Some groups are into handkerchiefs. The pastor rubs his handkerchif all over your body, carressing and handling as he goes in order to exocise you of the demons worring you.
Some do the hostel deliverance, where you come camp out with the pastor for some days for prayers and deliverance. ho knows what happens when the prayers are over at night??

Every group comes out with a new signature style and their miracle hungry congregation just go with it, afterall he is a man of god so he knows what he is doing.

Judge who?? Abeg leave that thing my dear. Just because you caught one does not mean nothing. Go to bar beach every night and see what goes on there in the name of religion and christianity, you'll be amazed.

Okija,I ask you again, where and how is this act Christianity and where did Christ teach or do that?
Christianity is about Christ and his teachings.
Give me one proof from the book of Christian living AKA New Testament

saying they do it in the name of Christianity is not enough.
Is it Christianity?

Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. -Matthew 7:21-23

That's life, osisi. You just have to pray that such things won't happen to your kids or my future kids. So far i haven't had any problems with the Anglican church. The only problem is when greed and power enter.

If you folks ever hear that I went to prison, it will be for snuffing the life out of anyone that dares to touch any of my kids
God forbid.
My dear it's not about any church.
It's about individuals and there are plenty out there.
Even in a pentecostal church like mine, no child of mine will be alone with any man without me or my husband there.
I cannot be naive in the times we live in.
We rarely even let them go on sleep overs but their friends are welcome to my home anytime, anyday.

I'm not saying what the pastor did was right,
But if the pastor does actually believing that she's a demon, there is no way he's going to let her apply the oil herself.
Esp if he thinks she'll cast the the "holiness" out of the oil or do sth to it.

Btw, how did he apply the oil?

who knows if he was also instructed to use his fungating abunna to carry the groundnut oil to it's destination

Strong sentiments, but Ruby does have a point.
He might have done what he did convinced that he was actually casting out demons.
I've seen people get tied and the shit beaten out of them in the name of deliverance.
In christianity, shit happens.

It's not Christianity but Religiousity
Big difference.
How did Christ teach us to pray for the sick?
Where did he ask us to pour oil in a bucket and bathe them with ?
where are people learning these things from?
The thing is that some mix African trado worship with Christianity and think it it's all good.
Fraud.
People should read their Bibles

I understand that God can minister to a man of God to do certain things in a certain way but believe me he will not be telling any grown man to look at a little girls privates talk less of rubbing or pouring things in it
Religion / Re: Annointing Oil In Private Part To Cast Out Demons by Queenisha: 12:43am On Sep 04, 2008
What is all this annointing oil craze in Nigeria anyway to the extent that private areas now need to be annointed by a "man of God"
people need to open their Bibles and read it.

He might be innocent to the point of not even having any sexual intention towards the girl.
We, Nigerians, at least some of us, are very religious. Some pastors get carried away with their anointing.

I remembered once when I was sick, my grandma took me to the Pastor in our village. I was about 4 or 5 sha.
The pastor poured some kind of detour and Olive oil inside a bucket of water, then he told my grandmas to bath me while he prayed. Do I think he has any sexual intention? I hope not.
My point is, people are so willing to believe and do anything a pastor calls a "solution", that the pastor him/herself would even make up their own '"new" style of anointing so that people can think they performs miracles.

Truth be told, there are too many bogus pastors nowadays.

That is no innocence my dear.
he  violated her.
She says he raped her.
In your case, the man asked your grandma to bathe you.
(Even that one is not biblical at all)
The pastor should have given her parents the oil to pour if it were his cure.
The girl is 13 for crying out loud
I'm sure she knows where her private part is and can pour the oil herself
