It is possibly, highly possibly TRUE!

Can you provide more information about this system?
It would be appreciated.

To be honest, it is probably TRUE. There's a certain system that they examine extremely closely during questions and answer sessions. It's probably an algorithm, some kind of software. A lot is going on on that monitor as you are done with a response and they are keying in at the keyboard, pausing intermittently, looking up at the monitor. And then,... If they are not given a definitive green light as to POSITIVE OR NEGATIVE, they ask a couple of further questions to eventually determine your status you understand?

The granting of a visa is systematic. It's based on a procedure that's digitalised---apart frm the probably--highly possible addition of VO decision making system and some psychology.

I was in there. I saw this firsthand.

Please provide us with a little bit of a backdrop to your profile. For example, are you a first-time applicant? What's your background, etc.? It's odd, but not surprising, that you were denied no questions asked (no pun intended!) Keep in mind, the embassy/consulate conducts extensive background checks on candidates long before the interview: that data is right in front of the VO before you walk up to the window. It shouldn't surprise you why interviews last only few minutes (or seconds.) Also, by "letter" do you mean you were handed a slip? It's possible that a combination of the info you filled on your DS160 and the data they have on you may have flagged you. VO may not be obligated to ask questions after all -- just doing their job. I personally don't think you were stereotyped here; but I've never heard of an interview devoid of dialogue; that simply defeats the whole point of an in-person interview.

P.S: If it consoles you, I accompanied my folks to the consulate today and I saw a young chap who was asked just one question and after that his interview was over. At least he was asked *a* question.

Extensive background check long before the interview? How?

I thought not until you come in and hand over ur passport. Thousands of people are interviewed daily. How could a vo have conducted a background check on a particular, random individual??

Business / Nairaland Man Duped Of 1.7 Milliona Naira By A Web Designer Also On Nairaland by rago(m): 12:40pm On Aug 16, 2016
The police in Lagos have arraigned a website designer, Ikechukwu Iwezor, in an Igbosere Magistrate’s Court for allegedly defrauding a blogger to the tune of N1.7m. The 28-year-old Iwezor was brought before the magistrate, Mrs. F.F. George, on Monday on three counts of fraud. The police said Iwezor and the blogger, Ola Akinlayo, met on Nairaland , a social media platform, sometime in September 2015, and started a discussion on website designs. PUNCH Metro learnt that after reaching an agreement, Iwezor obtained N1.7m from the blogger for the purpose of designing a website for him. Iwezor, however, reportedly fled to Abuja after the payment. Akinlayo was said to have reported the matter to the police after efforts to get his money back proved abortive. Our correspondent learnt that Iwezor was subsequently apprehended at Sauka, Abuja. A police prosecutor, Sergeant Innocent Odugbo, who arraigned him on three counts of conspiracy, obtaining money under false pretences and stealing, told the court that the offences were punishable under sections 409, 312 (2) and 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011. The charges read in part, “That you, Ikechukwu Iwezor, between September 2015 and April 8, 2016 in Lagos, within the Lagos Magisterial District, did commit felony to wit: stealing and obtaining money under false pretences. “That you, with an intent to defraud, did obtain the sum of N1.7m from one Ola Akinlayo, on the pretext of helping him to design a website, a representation you knew to be false.” The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges. His counsel, Danielle Abbe, prayed the court to grant him bail on liberal terms, adding that he was innocent until proved guilty. The presiding magistrate granted the defendant bail in the sum of N300,000, with two sureties in like sum. She added that the sureties must show evidence of three years tax clearance and present their addresses to the prosecutor for verification.
