The Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT) in Abuja has granted the request by the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its candidate in the last presidential election, Muhammadu Buhari, to be allowed access to materials used for the election. The permission is to enable the APC and Buhari inspect and obtain the certified true copies (CTC) of the materials to enable them prepare their defence against the petition to be filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate in the election, Atiku Abubakar. A three-man panel of the tribunal, led by Justice Abdul Aboki, in granting the two ex-parte motions filed by the APC and Buhari, ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to allow the applicants inspect and obtain CTC of the materials. The tribunal, in the two rulings on both motions, granted similar orders. The APC had, in a schedule it attached to its motion, listed 12 categories of election materials it sought to be allowed to inspect. Ahead of the opening of the 2019 edition of Big Brother Naija (BBNaija), organizers have announced plans to hold a reunion for its 2018 housemates. Multichoice Nigeria made the announcement after it opened the dedicated channel of the reality TV show a few weeks back. A short clip, posted on Instagram, from the upcoming reunion, Ifu Ennada is seen in a rage while Alex tries to calm her down and a security aide takes charge. Also, the host for three editions, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu is seen intervening alongside security personnel. The `Double Wahala’ season was one of the editions characterised with so much drama, love, and tactics. Double Wahala which means double trouble lived up to its true meaning with the pairing of the housemates. Highlights of the double Wahala included Cee-C and Tobi’s on and off relationship; fights between Alex & Cee-c; Anto and Lolu’s casual relationship. Reno Omokri, a former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, has blamed President Muhammadu Buhari for failing to act over the collapse of a three-storeyed building, which left many dead in Ita Faji area of Lagos Island on Wednesday. The media reported that at least, 50 children have been rescued by the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), as well as other security agencies. Reacting to the sad event on Thursday, Omokri said Buhari ought to have travelled to Ita Faji, Lagos Island, where the three-storeyed building collapsed for an on the spot assessment. Many people were killed after a trailer rammed into a crowd along Upper Iweka road in Onitsha, Anambra state yesterday March 13th. According to reports, the tanker suffered a brake failure, lost control and killed people from Toronto hospital to NITEL junction at upper iweka. An old man in the United Kingdom ate half a bucket of paint after mistaking it for yogurt. The man, identified as Bobby, became a viral sensation after his granddaughter shared a photo to Twitter. "Sooo my grandpa ate half a quart of paint today thinking it was yogurt,” Alex Stein wrote on Twitter.. Luckily, ingesting the chemical didn't have a life-threatening effect on him. A JSS 1 student of the Dennis Memorial Grammar School Onitsha has died after one of his classmates reportedly threw a stone at him yesterday Tuesday February 19th. Facebook user, Mizta Nnamdi, who shared the sad news on his facebook page, said the deceased was a super intelligent student. Read what he wrote below(photo) HE DIED BECAUSE OF THE STUDENTS ENVY AND THE TEACHER'S CARELESSNESS. THIS is Emmanuel Chukwuebuka Nnanna , a Jss 1 student at Dennis Memorial Grammar School Onitsha, A native of Oburo Ogwa in mbaitoli LGA, Imo state. He died on Tuesday 12th February 2019 by a large stone thrown to crush his head from the school dormitory window by his fellow envious student. This happened after school hours, the victim was said to finished eating in the school cafeteria, fetched water with his gallon kept the water in his corner and came outside to play football. He met two students playing football, asked if he can join them and the two boys playing the football told him to wait for they are playing turn by turn . While waiting and watching them a mischievous student carried a large stone they used to hold the dormitory door, targeted the victim from upstairs and hit the large stone on his head. The victim fell down immediately and become unconscious. The two boys playing the football carried him to the school clinic, there was no equipment to handle his case there so one of the clinic attendance carried him out the school gate and started looking for keke, he got one took him to general hospital Onitsha where no treatment was given to him. They latter took him to iyi enu hospital when he has already bled to death. While all these was going on, they did not contact his father, Kanayo hospital and other private hospitals are very close to DMGS, instead of them to take him there as his case is emergency, they rushed him to general and then far away iyi enu because it's Anglican hospital. Just like that an innocent boy that lost his mother when he was only three years, a super intelligent boy with multiple talent died because of his fellow students envy and school management carelessness. Consequently, the Presidential and National Assembly elections will come up next Saturday, 23rd February 2019 while the governorship and state Assembly election will now hold on 9th March, 2019. INEC had earlier scheduled today 16th February 2019 for the presidential and National Assembly, while the State elections were scheduled for 2nd March, 2019 before this latest decision by the commission. INEC hinged the postponement of the elections on logistic challenges. INEC Chairman Prof. Mahmood Yakubu and the National Commissioners met with some observer for hours before reaching the decision. The announcement came barely few hours to the elections. Announcing the decision, INEC Chairman Prof. Mahmood Yakubu said it was a difficult decision to take. Yakubu however, said INEC will be meeting with stakeholders by 2pm today. He said: “The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) met on Friday 15th February 2019 and reviewed its preparations for the 2019 General Elections scheduled for Saturday, 16’h February 2019 and Saturday, 2nd March 2019. “Following a careful review of the implementation of its logistics and operational plan and the determination to conduct free, fair and credible elections, the Commission came to the conclusion that proceeding with the elections as scheduled is no longer feasible. Video: Thief jumps into Lagos lagoon after snatching phone from a passenger in traffic A suspected thief who could not swim, jumped into the Lagos lagoon after snatching a phone from a passenger in traffic this afternoon February 16th. Luck ran out on the thief after he couldn't swim when he landed into the Lagoon. He cried out for help and was rescued by passersby who recovered the stolen phone from him. Ashamed of his act, the thief asked that he be thrown back into the lagoon but the people refused to lynch him or throw him into the Lagoon. He has since been handed over to the police. 200-Level female student of Babcock university jumps from 3-Storey building on Valentine's Day A 200-level student of public and allied health in Babcock University had a close shave with death yesterday when she jumped from a 3-storey building in an attempt to kill herself. The student identified as Susan, was said to have attempted the suicide because she didn't get a Valentine gift from her boyfriend, while other reports claim she's been battling with depression for a while. The National Emergency Management Agency ( NEMA ) has received another batch of 160 stranded Nigerians from Libya. Alhaji Idris Muhammed, Coordinator, Lagos Territorial Office of NEMA, confirmed the development to newsmen on Friday in Lagos. Muhammed said the Nigerians arrived at the Cargo Wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, at 7.50pm on Thursday aboard a chartered Nouvel Air aircraft and were received by NEMA and other government agencies. According to him, they were brought back by the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) and European Union under the Assisted Voluntary Returnees (AVR) Programme. He said: “The returnees are made up of 68 female adults, one female child and five female infants. “Also, there are 79 male adults, two male children and five male infants making up 74 females and 86 males, including a psychologically traumatised adult male. Muhammed advised young Nigerians to desist from embarking on irregular migration which removes the fundamental rights that such migrants could have enjoyed. He noted that it was unfortunate that they had to expose themselves to danger in the quest for greener pastures outside the shores of the country. Full text of President Buhari's address to the nation ahead of Saturday's election Moments ago, President Buhari addressed the nation ahead of Saturday's presidential election. Below is the full text of his speech: Fellow Citizens, On Saturday, February 16, 2019, you will, once again, be called upon to choose the leaders who will pilot the affairs of our great nation for the next four years. This is a constitutional right which should be freely exercised by all eligible voters. 2. I wish therefore to start by assuring all Nigerians that this Government will do its very best to ensure that the 2019 elections take place in a secure and peaceful atmosphere. 3. It was indeed such free, fair and peaceful elections that made it possible for our Government to emerge, despite the fact that we were contesting against a long-standing incumbent party. 4. And as your president and a fellow Nigerian, I ask that you come out and queue to fulfill this important obligation you have to yourselves and your fellow citizens – and to our common future. 5. Let me at this point, reaffirm the commitment of the Federal Government to the conduct of free and fair elections in a safe and peaceful atmosphere. Just yesterday, I signed the Peace Accord alongside 72 other presidential candidates. 6. I want to assure all Nigerians, the diplomatic community and all foreign election observers of their safety and full protection. Any comments or threats of intimidation from any source do not represent the position of the Federal Government of Nigeria. 7. As Government has a critical role in maintaining the democratic traditions, so do citizens. I therefore urge you all, as good Nigerians, to take a personal interest in promoting and maintaining peace in your respective neighbourhoods during the elections. 44-year-old, Rafiu Moruf, has been arrested by men of the Ogun state police command, for allegedly defiling his neighbour’s six-year-old daughter at their home located behind Aferiku Secondary School, Idiroko in the state on Monday February 11th. A statement released by the spokesperson of the command, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said the victim opened up to her mother after she noticed her daughter's awkward movement. “Upon close examination, the woman discovered semen inside the girl’s private part. She questioned the girl and she revealed that the suspect took her into his room and had carnal knowledge of her. The woman reported at the Idiroko Police station and detectives went to the suspect’s house where he was promptly arrested.
