The investment awareness in Nigeria is still very very low. It has more to do with lax regulations and the selfish nature of the managers of quoted companies. Oga Loco, has advised us to get a minimum of N5m to play the market. I am looking for my own N4.8mm to complete my seed money. Chibuking81:
That's act of wickedness, for selfish purpose, then tell me if new comers will not see NSE as gambling. Let new comers see stock market as an investment arena, where payment of dividend is priority, with that ideology they will save and make huge amount of money in future, than seeing it first from nairabet ideology.

Your head is too correct Sir. CashDiMkpa:
Many of the companies that went out of business did'nt fold up for economic reasons. They folded up because they were run by crooks. Some of these are however still around.
Many of the business with better structures and ownership also experienced downturns due to combination of economy and crooked leadership e.g. Unilever, Cadbury, NB etc. but they are still around and doing business.
LESSON: If you want to invest for the long term, its still a viable strategy but select your companies carefully and always track company news as well as management news. |

Payment of 30kobo like they did last year is possible. Do not also forget that the excess tax dividend which also restricted them from paying more has been abolished. In fact I will not be surprised if they pay 35kobo. EPS at Q3 is already 46kobo thebargainhunte: Adjudging from previous released results, I doubt fantastic result from UCAP. It is a function of how you see this market. If I do not sell, I have only lost the opportunities that I could have derived if the cash was invested elsewhere. when I will say I have lost completely is when there is no recovery for the stock. UPL, if the price goes lower, it is just an opportunity to average down because I know the cash position is not bad. with the right focus of government on education, it will spur the industry again and I can bail out and never look back into that industry again. The banking sector is just the best in this market. Buy right and you will just relax and be enjoying nice dividends. Chibuking81:
I doubt it , except those that fail to answer bonanza call. Those who answer the call will at this point only lose some percentage of their earning. Like Fidelity/FCMB @ #1.40, Zenith at #16, GTB at #26 and many more. The like of Zenith and GTB will still rise above #24 and #35 soon. One can bail out if you see a good stock that loose more, and you feel that you can make more gain from it, one can come down from his vehicle and enter that one. 2 Likes |
