Thanks. But all the Beer making companies are not doing well.
735i:

It's not excise duties that killed Guinness. It was their shift in strategy to premium spirits from value and premium beer. That strategy eroded their market share. ABinBev now came and finished them with competition. Excise duties just nailed the coffin.
Guinness died a long time ago.

FG destroyed them all with excise duties.

Why should one even focus on FO again? Total, Mobil, Conoil, MRS are all struggling because NNPC is the sole importer of PMS. The only action that can save the day for them will be full deregulation which the FG is not prepared to do. Who could have thought that Guinness will be selling below N25 today?
Mcy56:
MTO or no MTO, FO remains a stock to keep eye on.
Those guys are controlling almost 75% of the total share, price manipulations is evident here in some near future.
Also, their results arent bad too. Current market price still makes sense.

The foreign-denominated loans in Access Bank is a cause for worry. Almost on the same level as UBA though. I prefer to have UBA or Zenith.
Agbalowomeri:

But that is too huge for a single quarter in my opinion

GTB based on q3 FP N48 if all things being equal N64 by year end

The company will have to be very innovative in surviving in the real estate business going forward. You may need to digest this latest result to see the future if there is any.

My investment rule going forward is that I am not going to touch any stock with debts that have become an albatross. The financial sector is key for me. UBA, Zenith, Gtbank ( if I can get it lower than N23 ) Ucap lower than N2, Africa Prudential less than N3.5 I can hold them for the next 2 or 3 years.

Sure u are seeing a bit too little !! cool

Like I told some folks at a gathering the other day;

''One of the greatest mystery behind an OPPORTUNITY is that it will sometimes 'disguise itself' and hide behind an obstacle.
...hence given a much better scenerio an 'ugly look' and blowing it out of proportion.
Because great OPPORTUNITIES are usually not found in 'a totally safe and comfortable zone'.
The key however lies in ur ability to 'weigh' the difference between that which is REAL and what is virtual, and then 'seive out' the virtual from the REAL.
...then u can 'unlock' that obstacle and grap the OPPORTUNITY.
This is especially true of the stock market terrain, particularly the NSE room.''

We await the time of reckoning !! kiss

The 15b will free the coy of debts. There will be little or no finance charges going forward. It is not as if the coy is totally useless but the debts hanging over it are too much.

No No No No... Don't get me wrong. I didn't call anyone names. "Promoters" is not name calling. I am a "promoter" of Access, wapco, transcorp and fbnh because I have and argue for them nothing else. I am not ashamed to be so called.
The benefit of this forum is the constructive criticism it offers. That's what helps us make objective investment decisions, and that's my own piece of it.
UPDC is to my opinion a negative on the whole deal. That's my simple opinion. If you do rights issue on a company of N1 with OS of about 2.5billion units by creating additional 15billion units, what else is remaining? What value can you place on it?
We are all here to learn, if you think am wrong kindly correct me, so that I can also join you guys to make the money. WE ARE ALL HERE FOR THE MONEY.
On AGLEVENTIS, its a different game altogether. There is a clear value to whole deal, just like diamond, dangflour and air services.
There is no clear valuation of UACN unbundling. Its all speculation.(including my opinion)

This type of holding will likely get one on the Board. It therefore means that aside dividends other goodies will flow into the bank.

UACN as a stand-alone entity, what does the future hold for the company? Are there challenges ahead or it is just a new journey into Eldorado? Is UPDC the only problem of UACN? I need help here oooo.
onegentleguy:
The manipulations on the trade book(both the buy and sell side) of the equity price of UACN is 2nd to none !!
...all in a bid to get u to give up on ur holding with this valuable asset.
Just guide ur stake judiciously and do well to HOLD.
...do not fall for any prank !!

Currently, similar 'pranks' is going on in coys like CAVERTON, FCMB, AIICO, ACCESS, ZENITH, FIDELITY, UBA, and TRANSCORP. ...and I keep laughing in spanish !! grin grin grin

Q2 of this stock will be profitable but the other Quarters will be losses. Q1 also is always a loss but this year's own shocked me. The losses on another level.
yok:

I will say this is my personal opinion and is common in the market. You will see an equity that the financials are not good, but once a while the price will just be increasing without reason and as soon as you buy, you will find that you have bought into a losing stock.

See the chart below, compare it with the financials. Why should this stock be going up? Even if the company can perform magic, I don't see how one can make money buying such equity.

Indirectly, my emphasis is that we must do our homework, we should not buy a stock just because the price is moving up!!!. If we see that risk is too high, we should not buy.

This is likely to come up in periods that are close to earnings seasons like we are getting to very soon.

There are too many stocks on the bourse that will definitely return tidy returns in the next 6months to 1 year. Does it not mean that one should buy every available stock on offer? The answer is capital NO. I like Bigjay picks, Agba picks too are legendary.

UBA is a buy for me. There is this feeling that I have that it may still touch N6 before it zooms off.
akinssan:
For the past, last 6-month UBA has been trying to break the N6.40 prize zone four different times without any success,
any hope for a break-out, since we have had two false breakouts...Are we expecting the messiah break-out now?

Any information?
