It's obvious you are looking at this from a very sinister point of view, and this isn't really were I hoped to take the discussion.
That guy is simply tribalist.
But I still dont agree that a person from another tribe should be allow to rule me.
America is a country with only Americans. America have their culture, language(a typical american mother's tongue is english).
If yoruba and igbo or hausa have the same culture(dressing, moral, language etc) then I can allow them to rule over me.

donroxy: Nairalanders sha ,

The way you posted that link I thought premiumTimes was exclusively awarded by Baba Wole Soyinka Investigative Journalism not knowing that PremiumTimes' Journalist was 'merely' among the chosen and awarded !!

Who awarded premiumTimes as best Investigative third world media ? grin ... Even Nigeria .. Where Guardian and Vanguard even My Punch dey ?

I would love to know that International Organisation that ranked premium time best ?

Obj's secret letter was primarily sourced by premiumTimes ? (IDK oo but is that real ?) .

I don't like that media sha and most Nigeria's NewsPaperMedia always stating '' a reliable source who pleaded anonymity because he is not authorised to speak on the matter'' grin

The above is what is tagged investigative Journalism ?

An Headline of PremiumTime be like :

BUHARI STEPPED DOWN FOR ATIKU

'' a reliable source who pleaded anonymity because he is not authorised to speak on the matter'' gave them the information ... grin

Tomorrow :

BUHARI IS THE FLAGBEARER OF APC 2015 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION

quoting same hishhh :

'' a reliable source who pleaded anonymity because he is not authorised to speak on the matter'' gave them the information ... grin

abegii bro : Channels has TV for Newspaper na Guardian/Vanguard/Punch respectively and Nairaland has forum even when you posted falsehood on Nairaland , there will always be a member to clear your doubt !!
These are the list of the awards 1)Adeyemi Adesomoju (Punch), Emmanuel Ogala (premium timesy and Ayoola Kassim (channels) recieve commendation certificate for their efforts 2)Local category: Bassey Udo(Premium times) 3)Asukwo Bassey's drawing won the catoon category (Published by businessday) 4)Temitayo Famutimi (punch) win print edition While Elijah's work published by Standard national magazine was runner-up 5) Rouno agbroko meyer and Inni ekot(both from premium times) won the online category while tobore ovuoere of premium times was runner up 6)Aderonke Ogunleye of premium times won the sport category 7)Investigative reporter of the year goes to the team of Agbroko-Meyer and Ini Ekott of premium times. 5 premium times reporter or 3 journalist and a team of 2 journalist won atleast one category. Why do you think it is development to be rule by a person from another tribe. Will you vote a white man as Nigerian president?.

Politics / Re: Is There Any Difference Between Senate And House Of Representatives by reedonne: 6:36pm On Aug 22, 2014
The purpose of the senate is to ensure that large states doesnt silent small states due to high number of reps.
The house of senate is create to represent the voice of state goverments. In many country the senators are appoint by there state and can remove them anytime. This was also the case in the US before an ammendment was passed to let the people elect their senator.
According to wikipedia, after the 17th ammendment, state goverment begin to lose power to the federal goverment because their weapon which is a senate that dance to their tune have been scrapped.
If we make senate, the rep of state goverments instead of people, it will increase the power of the state goverment and enhance their political independency.
Politics / Re: Is There Any Difference Between Senate And House Of Representatives by reedonne: 6:27pm On Aug 22, 2014
BeraBera: My State has 3 senators. Some Bills receive approval from the house of reps but get thrown out at the senate, and vice versa. This shows that one of the differences is the opinions of the masses being represented by the senators/house of reps members.

Ranking system.
Every post and topic should attract a number of point. eg 5 point per post and 20 point per topic (already created topic should attract negative mark), 1 point per like.
When a person made a tribalist post, they should lose 200 points.
When a person have -500 points they should be ban automatically.
There should be list of 6 non-partisan member that will determine if a post is tribalist. The poster should only lose point when 4 of them accept a post as tribalistic.
Posters with high point should have special privileges that will make them special than other members. This will discourage a user from having multiple handles. It will also make user afraid of losing point.

you know what. i don't think you have to wait for your government to become powerful enough, before you start behaving like the citizen of a country which has the potential to become a major world power. what i think is, if the people behave like it, then the government will reflect it, because the people will choose leaders who share their ideals.

National pride is very important to a country but it isnt enough.
What I meant by intellectual capacity is what the people are capable of doing, eg medicine, engineering etc.
When we have good education and good intelect for research, then national pride will force us to spend all the resource to proof to the whole world that we are the best.

Nigerians are already behaving like a citizen of a great country but that hasnt give us anything. You can check how Nigerians speak to ghanaian and south africans here. But what have we got from that? Another form of tribalism I guess.

Hmmm..the regional stucture would have imploded eventually. Nigeria has three major tribes which attempt to lord over everyone else...everytime. the oppressed tribes in the southwest would have clamoured for thier own autonomy, same in the south east, and north. I take the clamour for these new 19 states as confirmation of this. so try to accept that when the military attempted to strip us of our tribal mindsets, and prevent further secessions by creating 36 states, they did what is best for the country.
So have they achieved what they wish to achieve?. I dont think so.
I believe that our existence as a state should be base on the support of our different ethnic groups.
If our 2nd tier of goverment is structured among ethnic groups and ethnic unions, we wont have some people that call themself ohaneze, afenifere etc when we have a legitimate goverment with a premier or governor. However a 3 or 6 regional state is not a good system.

MOBJECTIVE:

reason why i'm saying: we should start behaving like the people who we aspire to be. what you mean by intellectual capacity is what some people call soft power, and what i understand in this context as the intangible sense of self worth, greatness, or unity a people or nation has which propels them to achieve extraordinary feats. I think Nigerians have this-we simply have to start behaving like people who do. for e.g there was no discussion in the recently concluded national conference about the things that make a great people: Language, culture, national ideals, human capital, greatness of time past..all the little things that make you picture a japanese: clean, upright, hardworking, dilligent or German: intelligent, perfectionist, and think, wow, these people are amazing. we need to choose those minor things we admire, and all collectively practise them.
We are yet to have an authoritative "state", so we cant talk about nation building or national identity.
We can only progress only when we have a state that is more influencial in the whole country than any other organization. An institution that will nutralize Afenifere, Ohaneze, NEF and other non-state institution that are very influential.
Currently, the Nigeria state goverment and federal govt are yet to posses what a powerful state posses. When the state have enough power and have its own code of conduct and ethics, it can then force a national identity on the people.

Nigeria is much bigger than you think it is, with much more resources than you think it has. Africa as a whole should be the commanding power of the world, and Nigeria should be the commanding force of Africa; it's time we start behaving like it. Our continent has been subconciously relegated as the last in the mindset of the world, and the effects are just damn silly sometimes. For example, below is Africa's true size, but for conveniece and due to he fact that the true shapes of a continent are difficult to project on a sphere, everyone accepts Mercator's distorted representation of the sizes of world power countries.
Landmass or resource doesnt make a country great, it is the intellectual capacity of its citizen that does.

Because Nigeria is heavily dependant on oil only few people pay tax, and that is the main reason why we have problem here. Our people protest against the removal of subsidy but does protest the stealling of $20b, because they use money to buy oil while the $20b is in no way related to them.

Wrong move
Nigeria need a leader just as much as a ruler. Our constitution have failed to produce a leader(I mean someone who command respect of the whole nation), so I believe we should move to a semi-parliamentary system where the president must be atleast 70years old because one set of people every african respect are the olds.

Nigeria is somewhere there in the top 10. Our economy is large, but we have poor infrastructure. Same goes for Egypt.

Most people doesnt even understand that the people make the society. South is not more developed than the north because of better leader but its people. The best the goverment can do is to educate and enlighten its people, but real development come from the people.
We all know that the level of infrastructural development(especially road) in the north is the best in the country(except now that states like lagos, rivers akwa ibom are overtaking them).

Politics / Re: National Value, The Solution To Nigeria And Africa Problem by reedonne: 2:19pm On Aug 06, 2014
Can we create a national value?

If lack of national value is our main problem, can we create one?.
No, we cant, but most people living in every african country have an ethnic value, this ethnic value can make us unpatriotic, It block our sense of reasoning many times, and sometimes it cause tribalism.
If National value cannot be created, why not use this ethnic value to create national value, why not make patroism to your ethnic means the same as patriosm.
Instead of a having artificially created states or region as federation unit, we should have ethnic group (atleast we dont have more than 50 ethnic group) as federating units, we should forget about the size and population of each unit, if nigeria with 150m population have the same number of seat at AU with sychelles with less than 100 thousand population, and if california(with a population of 38million) is in a federation with wyoming(500 thousand population), we have no reason to care about the population of each ethnic group.
We should create a federalism of ethnic groups, each ethnic group should be responsible for its welfare including security, while a central goverment should be responsible for building a strong and united country. The ethnics should be so powerful that the central goverment shouldnt be able to send military into any ethnic land without the consent of the ethnic and in time of state of emergency, both the ethnic and federal govt should have equal power over the military

With the welfare of each ethnic on its own shoulder, the people of each ethnic will start a cold war to become the most developed ethnic in the country and this will reduce corruption, and it will also improve unity because a northerner wont blaim a southern leader for their problem and vice versa.
