Politics / National Value, The Solution To Nigeria And Africa Problem by reedonne: 1:39pm On Aug 06, 2014 |
Whenever we are talking about Nigeria's problem, what comes to mind are corruption, tribalism, etc. But are these problem our real problem, I dont think so. National value There cant be a nation without a national value and pride. National value can solve our problem easily because 1)National value create a national pride, national value make people to be proud of their value which means national pride, this national pride can will also lead to patroism 2)National pride will make everybody work for the development of their nation because national pride make people to want to feel superior to others, and to feel superior, national pride force people to work for the development of the society. Even a dictator will work for the development of his country if he have a national pride while a democrat will wont care about his country if he doesnt have national pride. 1 Like |

Nigeria leaders have really failed us, but Nigeria followers have failed us more than our leaders. If we have a good leader, will he pass every law by himself? Anti-trust bill, PIB, etc have been in the NASS for years without anybody to pass them. If we want a good country we must rise up together and demand for it, but the current structure doesnt even allow it, the current structure make it look as if the president is the only person that rule the country and the president's people will always support him if we decide to rise up against one. 1 Like |

China's progress is a result of the hardwork of both its goverment and citizen. But here goverment is not ready to do anything and citizens on the other hand doesnt care to do his part. Unless we develop(or copy) our own technology, unless we can build everything on our own, we cannot be anywhere behind a country that build almost everything by itself. We add billions to their economy every year by buying tech stuff from them, contract them for construction works etc. Unfortunately, our leader only trust in Agriculture(which they mostly pay lip service to), they only want us to be self-sufficient in agriculture but not technology. 3 Likes |

Reski: Well it is easy for the coas to play the blame game. Lets keep welfare aside the kind of officer's we have commanding these guys are nothing to right home about. Why won't the soldier's desert when most of our officer's lack the capacity lead effectively on the battle field. They find it difficult to develop strategie's to checkmate bokoharam on the battle field but are expert's in womanizing and giving irresponsible order's that will lead these young soldier's to their death's. ''They are no bad team's there are only bad coache's. Until we get the right people to manage our armed force's through transparent recruitment process. There is also a need to retrain the current crop of incompetent never do well officer's we have at the helm's of affair's.I agree with you about the fact that our military leader lact tactical plan for this war, when boko haram attacked their base, you would have believe that they would have create a tactical plan to protect it any other time, but they keep attacking it again and again. Boko haram keep using the same tactics like wearing military uniform to operation but they havent think of how to solve the problem. Nigeria is currently on defensive mode against boko haram but boko haram keep slaugthering our army and people, why isnt any plan to protect each of the towns evacuate the villages they cannot protect. |

@Blocus The SAR are in state capitals while the mopos are in their barrack which are far away from many LGAs in the state, I think there should be a standing combat team in each LGA since ordinary policemen are afraid of criminals. |

Blockus:NOPRIN Foundation should be strengthen if they exist in Nigeria for decades and corruption is still rampant in the police service, it need a serious review. They should publicize the snitch unit, I have never heard of it and i believe 80% of Nigerians havent as well. They need publicity both on the radio and tv stations. State and Federal TVs. 1 Like |

Blockus: [b]1. Systematically phase out the old guys. Reason: You cant teach an old Dog new tricks.I support all of your point except minimum requirement for the job. I also want to add these 1)There should be a complaint organization run by civilian(non policemen) where we can report any case of corruption by policemen 2)There should be special taskforce manage by state goverment to monitor police activities in each state. This is to check corruption and illegal detentions. Training alone wont do the work. 3)Police intelligience capability should be review upward 4)Suspicious activities report unit should be created to monitor suspicious activities in the country. It should have a special hotline from the emergency service 5)Mobile police should be replace with SWAT team with each division having a SWAT team 6)SWAT team should be trained in SIMULATION search and rescue operation, hostage rescue, high powered combat with great emphasis on teamwork 7)SWAT team should be heavily armed and have special car since they can be call to operation any second. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Instead of this national conference, we should review our state and when every state have its own constitution, then we can ask each state to send delegates for a national convention where each state will say what it need from Nigeria and what they are ready to pay, at the end of the convention atleast half of the states must pass its resolution in their house of assembly and those who didnt shouldnt be force to work with it by allowing them to get out of this country or allow them to operate as Special autonomous region(SAM) like hong kong and maccau inside china, or sicily, sardinia, aosta valley in italy etc. |
Politics / Re: How to restructure Nigeria by reedonne: 9:20am On Jul 17, 2014 |
In order to unify, we must unify under one entity before Nigeria and this entity is state. Some ethnic spread over a number of state while some state have countless number of ethnics. If we are to unify Nigeria, we must unify the states first and if we want to unify the states we must allow people to choose their state, organize it and create its goverment. What I mean here is that each community must accept to be in their state, if there is no agreement between ethnic groups, they can create a state of their own, as long as they have a population of up to 200000,. There is no problem if we have 200 states as long as they are unified. Each state must also have a constitution signed by the parliament of each LG or accept by a referendum in the state. If every people in every state agree to be one entity, the national problem can be solve using the house of senate. The senate should be appoint by state house of assembly or by state law so that the senators can fight for their state well in the house of senate |

With the developments at the ongoing National conference, i doubt if we can achieve any proper restructuring in this fourth republic Instead of negociating how to stay together, why not negociate the preamble of our constitution. The preamble lied against the every Nigerian by stating that we have agreed to live togeher in unity and harmony, No we havent. Why not just try to find out the acceptancy of this preamble which is the begining of our constitution which create this entity call Nigeria. Nigeria isnt one and can never be one except if we have a condition for being one. We will be one when we ask ourself why must we be in Nigeria and we find our answer easily. Some people may say for oil, but others doesnt want to stay because they believe they are stealling their oil. Nigeria can be a unified country only when the every entity from the smallest to the biggest tribe, community, state, clan, society have a condition for being in Nigeria and their condition is being satisfied. Nigeria will be unify when everybody have something to lose if Nigeria fall, in this case patroism to your tribe will mean patroism to Nigeria, patroism to your state will means patroism to Nigeria, patroism to your community will means patroism to Nigeria. 1 Like |

akenuka: Someone should tell me that one trillion has finished.1tr for security budget not defense budget. Security budget include defense, police,NSA and minitry of interior which comprise of agencies like custom,NIS, etc. Nigeria military budget is $2.6b or 0.5% of gdp making it one of the smallest in the world. If we are to spend what other country in our rank are spending, we should be spending nothing less than $10b on military every year. Algeria, egypt,SA,ethiopia, uganda even the small chad are busy equipping their army while we are spending $2.6b for our whole 130000 gigantic soldier defense force. If these country are arming themself, then we should look outside boko haram and be ready for war anytime, considering the fact that we call ourself giant of africa we need a strong defense force. |
Politics / Re: Nigerian Army's Campaign In The North Eastern Theatre (Photos) by reedonne: 11:20pm On Jul 16, 2014 |
I just dont understand what is wrong with Nigeria armed force. Ethiopia is already operating the SU-27 air superiority fighter jet and chad is already procuring one while we pride ourself as giant of africa without a strong defense force. What is wrong with us having a Sub-marine at our level. No special electronic warfare jet and no recoinainsance jet for survaillance, No dedicated interceptor, we want to use our J7 fighter both as interceptor and fighter jet. Our military also put little regard for the live of their men, the army doesnt have a functional air support, I doubt if our army use helicopter to transport injured soldier or medic team to hospital and battleground respectively, that is if they have a good medic service. We really need to review how we treat the military. Maybe some part of the SURE-P fund should go there afterall most of us arent feeling its effect. 1 Like |
